Leaving Mijamiya to pursue his objective of finding an entrance into the spirit world, and furthermore into the Underworld, Yurei took a taxi deeper into the mainland of Japan, using the money he received from cleaning the shrine. They delivered him near the Kasuga Taisha Shrine per his request, yet before they drove off. Yurei couldn't help but notice that the driver gave him an odd look. Ignoring it and continuing forward, the sky was getting darker and the rain heavier. But that wasn't going to discourage him, his mind was set on the freeing of his father. And the objective of his current mission was going to help him with just that.
The stories the spirits told him of a great spirit living in the statue of the shrine enticed him, and he's here to see if the legends were true. And so, he walked miles into the city of Nara, following the spiritual pressure of his target. Until finally he found it.
The winds and rains beat against the steel of his armor, as Yurei stared at the shrine in front of him. A statue of a Tiger spirit, a Byakko, glared back at him. The feline was gigantic, it's front paw was the size of his body. Yet, Youkai didn't move. He could feel the spiritual pressure from within the statue. It housed something, and he needed that power to help him on his mission.
He ripped a sack from his waist and reached into it. He pulled out blackened salt and threw it against the stature. Members of the Sen-Reikon winced at the sight of disrespect, but Yurei ignored it, waiting in anticipation for his foe to arise. As stone turned into ether, bits of black four began to appear, revealing the beats within. The sounds of people screaming at the sight of the gigantic beast was tuned out by the sounds of the spirits giving him orders.
They shouted to be heard, for their desires to be carried out. Turning into nothing but noise for him. He withdrew his blade that hummed with the spirit of vengeance, and followed his own instincts. To strike first and hard. However, as he approached the beast the weather changed. Rain turned into ice and snow, and the wind forced him backwards, wreaking havoc on the local villages. The beast, fully emerging from the stone, stood before the Vessel Of Thousand Souls, it wasn't the usual Byakko, a Tiger of all white and a symbol of virtue, instead it was an Onyx Byakko. With fur as dark as night, and stripes blacker, it was said to be the guardian of Winter and water, and a Byakko that experienced much misfortune.
It's rage was unrivaled as its roar echoed for miles. It's mere presence turned the air frigid, but Yurei stood strong. Ignoring the helicopter now on scene, he channeled the Sen-Reikon into his body. And charged forward.
