Meira awakens to pain. Nothing but pain. Suffering. Every muscle aches, every nerve screams in protest. But she moves anyway and on instinct alone she assesses the damage.

The Jedi has been hurt, but try as she might she cannot remember how or why she sustained her injuries. A dead body is nearby, a woman from the looks of things...or what's left of her.

Meira is bleeding because she has just coughed up blood. Struggling to get up, she barely makes it onto one elbow. A broken lightsaber lays there. As she slowly reaches for the shattered pieces, a gasp escapes her blue lips as she clutches her shoulder as it protests her sudden movement. Where hasn't she been wounded?! What kind of fight was this?

Meira sees another lightsaber, but considering her state of mind right now she has no idea what she's looking at. Instinctively, she flops over onto her stomach and crawls over it before grabbing it.

Next, the fallen Jedi checks on the body. Sure enough...dead. The face is not immediately recognizable despite attempts at trying to remember this mysterious woman. If the Chiss had her memory, she'd call this dead woman a Sith.

Meira grits her teeth against the pain, putting one foot on the ground before barely managing to stand and holding her side. She feels dizzy, leaning her hand against a tree. No...not a tree. Metal. She looks and sees that she is next to a crashed ship. What happened? Meira holds her head to try and stop the pounding headache. Why can't she remember what happened? In fact, why can't she remember anything? Even her very name escapes her.

She should check the wreckage for supplies, but she makes the first mistake of survival. She doesn't check the wreckage at all. Instead, Meira stumbles and half walks away from it all. Before too long she encounters a mysterious figure in brown and white robes. Meira is on edge, every breath hurts. Her body screams at her to rest but she pushes on. "He-Help...me...please..." She whispers as she falls down on the ground. Meira has the will to continue but her body has given out.

The mysterious woman comes over, checking the poor Chiss out and is surprised the poor woman is still alive after the injuries she has sustained. The old woman smiles at her, placing a hand on the Fallen Jedi's forehead, "Shhh...Your safe now. I'll take care of you. Sleep."

Too weary to fight, Meira falls asleep from the Force induced command to do so, little knowing this woman's intentions. But oblivion takes her into it's arms and the world of nightmares beckon. Faces, places and forgotten battles plague the Fallen Jedi but Meira cannot make any sense of them.

Xandra Shan looks upon the sleeping Chiss with determination. It will take much to restore her health, but her mind is another matter. It is fractured and broken. But this is an opportunity as well, although Meira herself may not realize that. A chance to start again.

The awakening begins...

Excellent read, I loved every bit of it.

You had me hooked with the first line.

One question though, what is a Chiss?

@blubber: Thank you!

A Chiss is a blue skinned, red eyed, alien race that exists in Star Wars.
