Temple of the First Strigidae

No Caption Provided

--Where the Brahma Bull walks, death follows. And where death follows, his fanatical cronies, those who have submitted their free will and sense of individuality to the Harbinger of Death walk and preach the most radical of evolutionary ideologies--

Temple Origins

Before the domineering baron of brutality known as the Brahma Bull, before the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse, there was only صفر, a monstrous Goliath with a penchant for conflict and ruthlessness fueled by a radical evolutionarily-founded ideology unlike any other before it. Not since the founding of the Arcani has the Brahma Bull identified himself as the mythical progenitor of the Strigidae. And it was in the uncharted landscapes of the Amazon Rainforest that Strigidae Zero was rediscovered, his unyielding path of destruction to set on a taciturn settlement in the still night.

There was no concept of mercy as his followers emerged. The violence that his former cronies once employed as tools of terror paled in comparison to the carnage the Cult of صفر unleashed upon the defenseless camp. They ripped out the throats of their victims with their teeth, and gorged on their steaming blood with hungry, bestial snarls. He laughed murderously as they plucked out the eyes of the terrified, wailing victims, their tortured cries lasting long into the night. No life remained in the settlement as the hulking revolutionary strode into the dark, he and his followers drenched in blood and lit by the lurid glow of the encompassing conflagration. Where he walked, death would follow.

His taste for blood and domination to be sated only once he has wiped the plague of the foul hominid, the genetic degenerates, and the weaklings of the mutant race from the face of the Earth. Until his ideological vision is realized, chaos would be wreaked upon the existence of both man and mutant. He would wipe away all in his path in a red mist, a rolling crimson fog that would erase everyone and everything in his path as he strode along in front of it, a menacing giant that would laugh heartily at the screams and cries of the doomed. And it would be from this mist that his kingdom would be erect.

A perfection reflection of the Militant Monster. His would be a frightening kingdom of slag and burning skies, and gelid air. A desecrated, decaying place washed in blood and smeared with excrement. His undead thralls, the raised corpses of victims and his followers alike would roam freely, counted as servants of the Brahma Bull. He will continue to be a force of strife and misery until his ideal world meets creation. His world would begin with the Temple of صفر. The Temple of Strigidae Zero.

The Cult

--Ready to intercept the ignorant wanderer and curious journeyman are the Brahma Bull's cronies. A collection of paramilitary mutant radicals undead and living, wielding the destructive tools of modern weaponry stride all about the dense greenery of the Amazon rainforest in perpetual observation of their surroundings.

Fanatical scholars and ideological slaves religiously worship and revere the self-proclaimed Gangster of Guerrilla Warfare, their unblinking eyes feverishly studying every weathered page detailing the militant Goliath's past as the ceaselessly elusive Strigidae Zero while the more nefarious and perverted of his followers reside deeper within the eternal pit that is the Brahma Bull's temple.

Their hearts pound in their chests as their sweat runs cold down their back. The light they see is too bright, too vivid. Smells they have never noticed before have suddenly grown overpowering, and the faintest of sounds are deafening. There is fear. Followed by disorientation and torturous pain as their bones lengthen and their bodies contort and finally the urge to kill in the all-consuming lust for blood.

They isolate themselves in the temple's darkest corners, the air burning their lungs, their claws are razors, their teeth? Daggers. Conscious thought fades as they become his now. His hounds. His commands burn within their minds as they wail their despair at the blood red moon when it festoons the dark sky.

They will kill any who oppose their prophet. They are beasts, nightmare creatures of such savagery and dread, that only they were fit to spread the unrelenting violence of the Brahma Bull's ideology--

Rules

  1. No godmodding
  2. Anyone can post here but the temple's location is meant to be very difficult to discover. If you don't sell the difficulty in locating the temple and just appear out of thin air, I'll ignore your post.
  3. You can come here to do whatever. Attack it etc. but if you want to cause major destruction, PM my La_Espada account.
  4. Sell the security here. Most of them are mutants while a portion of them are bestial in nature. Don't show up and start whooping everybody's ass just cause you can because your powers make you all that. If you do, your post might as well not even exist on this thread.
  5. Have fun ;)

@surkit: @la_espada:

It's a mix I think of credibility and profit. After decades upon decades of comics it likely feels weird saying "yeah thug 5 knocked out Wolverine" or "alien ship 206 took out Superman". That and from the most basic perspective companies likely figure the "Spider-Man vs Green Goblin" will sell better then "Captain America fights just regular Nazis."

Similarly for the vine I think it's "well my npc army probably won't defeat the hero/villain why bother" <.< which makes me want to have a character get her ass kicked here lol

@blooddiamond: That's subjective to the type of followers an antagonist may employ to defeat a protagonist. The Silver Surfer is basically a henchman of Galactus but he's still powerful enough to whoop a team like the Avengers.

True. But then a Galactus Herald gets a name is made into somebody of worth. The Hound in GoT isn't just another knight he's given an identity. Characters like that aren't like the thug Bane snaps the neck of when angry or those aliens shooting at the Avengers

@blooddiamond: Thugs aren't interchangeable with followers. A thug is a thug. But you can have a follower who is a character in their own right.

True but in the end silver surfer was sold more than the average thug in a mask. In the end he was equally as iconic as Galactus because he was a single type. If there were an army of surfers he'd lose his affect, he also met the requirements of being the henchmen of someone that can eat whole worlds, as well as the requirements of being a lesser henchmen by being within the same powerhouse of, but also less powerful as a whole than his employer.

@lea_drago: Well, I'm defeated ;P

@surkit: That has more to do with the Surfer's literary archetype as a hybrid of a romantic hero and tragic hero than him being the sole thug. Galactus has several heralds anyway, SS is just the most iconic for the same reason that while the Avengers have several members, certain characters are more iconic than others.

The fact he has an archetype actually makes him more of an individual and less of cosmic empowered muscle. For a long time he was the sole, it was only after years of Silver surfer and Galactus in comics that they built on to either's backgrounds and continuities.

With the Avengers point, certain members might be lesser known or less iconic, but at the same time they are still, iconic. They don't fall into the category of just muscle or right hands. Their known characters that had to be built on to be sold as Avengers. Same as if you want an army of characters able to take down a certain character with their own single minds and individual tact, you've got to sell them all as individuals and not hive mind drones, once they step out of that zone they enter individual status and it/he/she is a possible character in it's/his/her own right.

@surkit: I think there's a confusion with what constitutes a follower and what constitutes hired muscle or a thug here LOL. A follower is a character who is to a degree subservient to the objective of another character. Like in a team, generally you have followers and a leader e.g. Thor is a follower in the Avengers while a Captain America is the leader. But they're all their own characters for the most part. A thug or hired muscle is a literary device used in a narrative to enhance both the protagonist and antagonist. They aren't even relevant characters because they're literary tools, they're fodder. Villainous characters don't traditionally have thugs or hired muscle anymore, instead they have followers.

@surkit: Somewhere along the lines, I got lost LOL. I was highlighting the difference in characters who are followers that occasionally fulfill the role of henchmen from literal henchmen etc. In any case, good discussion ;)

@brahma_bull With 2.1 million square miles of green forestry, the Amazonia was true exposure to the conditions of purely animalistic way of living. For three months the Keijijo King was forced to make his home here, as he searched the moist broadleaf forest for what seemed to be a myth of legend here in the southern most tip of South America. Either out of fear or ignorance, those whom he encountered with the mention of the 'Brahma Bull' simply ignored him, striding past as if he were a ghost, invisible to the naked eye. Isolated in his journey he'd travelled deep into the expansive landscape navigating the various canopies with erudite acrobatic ability.

Reaching the borderline of Peru and entering Brazil, Milo could feel the presence of four others trailing behind him. Initially chalking it up to the presence of animals he continued along, oblivious to the impending danger that approached. Keen sense of sound combined with the extrasensory perceptions of heightened brain function immediately picked a projectile out of the air that cut through the wind at subsonic speeds. Mid glide Milo turned his body to snatch a poisonous dart aimed for his neck out of the air. As his body surged forward four figures appeared in the air around him, dressed in all black, faceless masks creating a frightening persona as they silently sailed to the next canopy.

"Assassins, in the Amazonia? I must be getting close to home." Milo thought to himself, drawing a single geijutsu kunai as each of the attackers drew a poison coated dagger of their own. The moment he landed the group pounced, striking with practiced synchronicity and demonstrating the elite skill of ones trained from birth. With chi enhanced speed Milo mustered an evasive defense by causing a slight deviation in his attackers strikes so that they would parry one another. Educated in combat with elevated physical prowess the group responded with that same devastating synchronized movement, rebounding off each other's strikes and attacking in the same frame. Yet this time, each attack was incredibly varied in both area of contact and angle. There was no avoiding all strikes, forcing the Keijijo King to make a snap judgement on which strike posed the greatest threat. Two kicks slammed into each side of his ribs, eliciting a small yelp as he raised his hand to muster defense for a swipe of the dagger trained for his jugular while simultaneously raising his knee up to parry a midair heel strike directed towards his solar plexus.

A weak defense caused the kunai to be swatted out of his hand, the dagger's razor edge slicing through the small piece of flesh in between his knuckle. A hurricane of strikes followed, and even with his enhanced speed Milo could not keep up with the flurry. Forced into a shell like defense with his arms and legs used as cover Tranquil could feel his consciousness slipping away. The poison had began to run its course through his system, disorienting him. This prevented the Bravehart from properly controlling his chi flow to counteract the effects and when a powerful punch penetrated his defense, his body was knocked from the canopy to the ground floor, the impact rendering him unconscious. Surrounding him, one of the attackers kneeled down, placing the dagger to Milo's neck, intent on finishing him off before one of his companions placed a firm grip on their shoulder. "No, his fate is not ours to decide," she said. Without words the group picked Milo up, dragging him deeper into the Amazonia, to a temple positioned at the center.
