They should have handled it together, but Hawkshade went home for some reason and Grimm followed him.
When an insane person takes over an asylum, you don't go home. Reaver thinks to himself as he accepted membership into the Shadow Knights. What kind of 'heroes' were these? Reaver wanted to know so he decided to accept Hawkshade's offer.
But Reaver had to go back. And since his teammates were busy with other stuff, then training to fight this Alpha Dog, Connor knew that he couldn't let his mother keep the insane asylum to herself. This problem needed to be solved even if he had to do it himself.
So Reaver went back without telling anyone about it. He went alone. This is my mother we're talking about. She can't be left alone, not like this. If Hawkshade doesn't like it, what's he going to do? Kick me off the team?
Reaver goes back to the insane asylum and perches on a rooftop. He slips into the insane asylum and begins to work. Like a silent predator, he works like a steady machine taking out the garbage. They have guns, he doesn't. But one by one, he takes them out. He knocks them unconscious. But then he has to solve a puzzle, but he solves it by following the clues. A trail. Unfortunately, it ends with a man's death because his mother became aware of what Reaver was doing, so she killed a man.
Reaver found himself taking out some more men as silently as he could. The night was young and he had barely started when he knew it was going to be a long night. But Connor was used to long nights. Every night was a long night.
The Wild Joker lays many traps for Reaver, but he overcame them all through wits, skill and determination. But as the night had worn on, the Wild Joker became more desperate. She eventually let loose a monster that could bring out the worst fears in others. Reaver was exposed to it's toxin. At first, it was working. But then Reaver fought through it and beat the monster senseless.
It all finally came to a head when the Wild Joker revealed she had enhanced physical strength. Reaver was in for the fight of his life. But, again, he relied on his wits, skill and determination to win the day. He got injured, but he knew his own mother even if she was insane. Reaver wouldn't let her win. Ever. Connor won the fight and got back in control of the Asylum. Once the authorities arrived, Reaver left so that they could deal with replacing the doctors and orderlies that were driven insane thanks to his mother's blood she had injected into them. There was nothing more Reaver could have done. And now that his mother was back in a straight jacket, locked in a cell in which she couldn't escape, Reaver went back to his hideout, the Hole. There, he patched himself up as best he could before he fell asleep and slept the day away.
