Stratagem - The Damned

Rumors circle the underworld of the metahuman community as a new player enters the scene, anonymous and hidden in the shadows, yet offering the most rare of opportunities. Not only is this new scourge offering more than generous bounties for successfuly completed assigment, but is also willing to properly outfit and arm prospective mercenaries to tackle their targets as an advance on services rendered. Such an offer is all but assured of attracting the cream of the merciless hunter crop to his beck and call.

Pray your name is not upon his lips.....

• It will be common knowledge who is being hunted, rumors get around.
• Anyone may claim a bounty, even multiple ones for repeated beatings of the same person.
• Requests to accept/collect on a contract should be made within this thread.
• Bonuses will be paid for creative methods in making them suffer

Donovan held up his hand as the three men sitting across from him attempted to start the meeting, taking his time he lifted the crystal glass and tested the wine chosen by his would-be benefactors. Satisfied that the vintage met his minimum standards he lowered his hand again signaling that he would allow them to continue and have his full attention. Normally these prospective clients would never bow down to such demeaning treatment, but they understood that exceptional talents many times came with exceptional arrogance and simply took it in stride. They knew full well of his extensive resume of accomplishments when it came to planning and executing the impossible, and their request fell among those deeds in terms of scope.

Man 1 - “We trust you have had sufficient time to review the dossiers we have provided, your lack of requests for additional information would seem as such.”

Man 2 - “We have already arranged for the payment and resources promised should you choose to accept our offer, everything is in escrow and can be transferred into your control and at your specifications within 24 hours.”

Man 3 - “You will have to excuse the wait while reviewing your...references...some of them seemed to be the stuff of urban legends of the underworld..yet each turned out to be completely accurate. We are willing to move forward without delay..but our time is limited and your answer will have to be given now or we will be forced to look into alternate contingencies.”

To any onlooker it would seem as if Donovan was barely paying attention to the trio, yet if tested as to this fact he could recite every word should he chose to. The truth was he had already made his decision days ago, but the diva inside him always enjoyed being wined and dined as men of power attempted to sway him towards their cause, even if only temporarily. Finishing his glass in a single sip, he stood up and finally met the eyes of the men as they finished their sales pitch while straightening his tie.

Donovan - “Gentleman, let me be up front and honest with you. I do not give the slightest shit about your cause, your politics, or your humorless and dreary speeches. I don't even care about the enormous sums of money you seem to be falling over yourselves to throw at me. What I do care about....the only thing I care about...is that you have brought me a challenge worthy of a man of my caliber. Therefore I will bless you with a sample of my legendary mind at work and orchestrate the ruin of these poor, now hopeless souls as you request.”

Reaching down and taking his white fedora from the table he took great care to ensure that it fit upon his head just so before making his way towards the door, stopping just before taking his leave.

Donovan - “As to the rumors of my demise...you can see the lengths I will go to in order to complete a task, I sent my twin brother Roderick into the lion's den just to make a point...then again he always was a bit of a tosser.”

Without another word he disappeared into the sea of pedestrians, the fates of his unaware targets already being decided deep within the mind of a functional sociopath now armed with unfathomable resources.

May God have mercy on their souls, for he surely will not.

Most of these look like it would rather be a suicide mission, or cost more than its worth, track the wrong guy and end up dead, or it costs thousands in planning to operate.
