The Aurora...

No Caption Provided

Apex brings to the 8th Wonder's attention that, before they undertake this mission, that they need to gather the others for a meeting in a designated room where a meeting can be held. But first, the Jade Giant needs a shower so he leaves and finds a room, seeing that it has a bathroom and washes up. After this, Apex makes his way to the meeting place should the 8th Wonder call one.

Apex turns his body sideways and ducks down in order to slip through the door, careful not to make any scratches or dents that need fixing as he does. He's in a spacious room of the Aurora. Here he stands like a stalwart sentinel awaiting for the team to arrive in Peru and for the others to arrive for a mission debrief. However, he has no idea if the 8th Wonder set a course to Peru or if the ship is even moving. Despite his enhanced senses, the ship is amazingly silent even to someone like him.

Aside from the 8th Wonder and August, Apex has not met any of the other members of the Alpha Guard. It's not because he doesn't want to, but because he's anxious to put an end to the Ghosts once and for all. Years of being hunted and forced to survive have all culminated in this moment. Plus, being a massive 8'0" tall walking mass of muscle with green skin and one can understand why Apex chooses to be anti-social. He knows he will meet each member in time, some he will get along with and others he might not. The 8th Wonder is already turning out to be a great friend, as well as a man of honor, and August seems like the type to be a good buddy as well. The others, however, are unknowns. Apex does wonder if any of the others he hasn't met will help him in this mission. If they do, he, or the 8th Wonder, can give them a mission debriefing. And that is also why Apex is here in this room now in case the others he hasn't met yet show up so he can meet them and tell them about this mission. To give them all an opportunity to help or leave.

Apex stands there, not seeing a chair big or sturdy enough for him to sit down in. He is there after having showered and put his ripped up pants in the washer and dryer. Unsurprisingly, Apex smells of evergreen and pine trees. His face holds what can best be described as determination despite his stoic nature. He is anxious to get this mission done and rescue Elite. A woman who he blames for his current condition even if it's not actually her fault. Deep down, he knows this. But Apex needs someone to blame and she's it.

So deep in thought, Apex does not hear whoever it is that happens to enter first...

Aurora, Data Center

No Caption Provided

In the coming hour, the Alpha Guard will sail the skies en route to Peru with honor in their hearts and the Ghosts in their sights. The storm that once wailed across the heavens had parted, and the American God now stood at the helm of Aurora's Data Center. Bracing his hands against the edge of a long round table, Achilles caught the cool glow of the holograms glimmering before him. They hovered above the table, shifting in shape as each one fed him newer bits of information on what his nanites had unearthed from the genes of one Aaron 'Crusher' Creed - enemy of Apex, and member of the Ghosts.

Catching every detail with the crackling focus of a speeding thunderbolt, Achilles'd soon lift his gaze to meet eyes with Apex, August and all others - or perhaps, no others at all - who'd step forward in Apex's time of need. "Our teammate, Apex, is a victim of circumstance", Achilles began, calm and hardly hinting at the stormy warrior's heart within, "His status as a metahuman is a gift as much as a curse. I say this because he's looked upon as property", the American God paused, arms folded behind his back, his distaste for those who strip others of their freedom rising from his voice, "As an asset belonging to an organization that calls itself the Ghosts".

"Presumably, because they operate right under our noses".

"They illegally capture and imprison the weak to use as guinea pigs for inhuman experiments. You see, our friend Apex is a rare success story from their ranks. A super soldier created by a level of science not yet open to the general public. We look at Apex and see a free man, rather, a man who should be free. The Ghosts look at him as stolen goods. A weapon that belongs in their arsenal".

"I disagree", he shook his head, "But, the Ghosts want him back. And I'm not too keen on allowing that. We have an opportunity to help a teammate regain his freedom, and shut down a corrupt bullshit organization, and save the people they've captured and are torturing".

Unfolding his arms, the American God continued, determined as any spirit could allow, "We in turn, have captured, de-powered and interrogated a member of the Ghosts. He is being held here, aboard Aurora, as a prisoner. He's to accompany us to the Ghosts' base in Peru. Our goal is to get in, shut things down, and free the people held there against their will, including Apex's acquaintance, Elite".

"For better insight into the Ghosts, I'd like to ask Apex", Achilles nodded, blue eyes shifting to the emerald titan, "To tell us what we need to know".

Aurora, Data Center

August stood in the Data Center of the Aurora with his arms crossed. The new group of heroes was flying to a dire situation. Yet the sky shined with brightness, The Aurora soared across the skies. The silver linings of the clouds were being sliced by the ship's vast, beautiful wings. The ship stood prominent in the bright blue above, with only small pockets of clouds to hide it. August had granted them a calm and beautiful flight. The young God's stormy eyes gazed around the room scanning everyone- or quite possibly no one and his eyes would narrow.

The concept of any being property was vile in August's eyes, he can recount the hundreds of times he had sailed the realms liberating those who had held as property by others. This...This was no different. Flashes of battles shot through his mind and he shook them away and glanced back at Achilles.

His listened to everything he said and nodded in agreement. His thoughts about the incident hid.

"We in turn, have captured, de-powered and interrogated a member of the Ghosts. He is being held here, aboard Aurora, as a prisoner. He's to accompany us to the Ghosts' base in Peru. Our goal is to get in, shut things down, and free the people held there against their will, including Apex's acquaintance, Elite".

August would grip his hands and nod his head once again "And we're going to get her back. And put an end to this horrendous organization."

August would glance around to everyone and go silent letting Achilles finish his speech.

I just want to apologize for this post, I know it's not very good. It's not even up to my own standards, especially when it comes to August.

An Hour Prior...

No Caption Provided

A stern face plastered over his face and an uneasy tension growing within, Caleb - The Symbiote Spider - leaned back into the cool steel railing, not yet, being able to come up of the situation. One hand slipped into his basic beige pants while the other rested freely beside his waist, he stood quietly eyeing each and every suspect within the helm of the Aurora; especially Apex. Caleb tests the patience of the green behemoth by nothing more than a short - but long, gaze. Why? No, how was the better question to ask when looking at Apex. Though Caleb's many questions would be answered simply by Achilles' demand.

"We in turn, have captured, de-powered and interrogated a member of the Ghosts.” He smiled briefly, though it fell as soon as it came. That’s karma for ya,' he subconsciously chortled in his mind.

Beneath several hundred feet of molten steel and other stern materials Caleb’d dare to understand, the Aurora itself soared through the blazing heat, a heat that wasn’t dared to be contented with life’s opposite nature; rain - courtesy of August Caleb could only presume.

Keeping position from where he sat, Caleb’s eyes narrowed to a slight slant, “the ghosts? Never heard of ‘em,” the Spider too confidently spoke. Though that was until he realized the name - ghosts. “Oh wait,” he sharply followed after his last statement, “s-sorry, go on.”

Nice Caleb, real nice.

@symbiote_spider: @august_hearst: @8th_wonder:

Apex has to inwardly kick himself since he should have been the one to give the mission debriefing. Chalk it up to his anti-socialism and the fact he hasn't really interacted with others for a long time. But like a Champ, the 8th Wonder picks up the slack without batting an eyelash and proving once more how strong his character is. A man who has gained Apex's respect and working towards more trust.

"And we're going to get her back. And put an end to this horrendous organization."

At this, Apex nods once in agreement. He has a history with Elite, both as a bitter rival and as the occasional, very reluctant, ally. Unlike the Green Titan himself, Elite can change back and forth from her green form into her human form at will whereas Apex is stuck in his current form. So the words from Dreamer that his powers are a gift as much as they are a curse couldn't be more true.

But then it's the other man known as Caleb whose short, but long, gaze is noticed. Apex looks over at him, green eyes glittering with curiosity but face remaining ever so passive as not to give any hint of emotion. This one he hasn't met yet. Then the awkward statement that makes it seem he's put his own shoe in his mouth is ignored simply because he's embarrassed enough and Apex does not wish to embarrass him further by commenting on it, so he says nothing and gives no reaction to it. Hopefully, to Caleb's own ease of mind and relief. But to ease the man's mind a bit, in the Green Titan's attempt to do so, he says simply to Caleb, "I look forward to working with you." Really, the statement is true for everyone in the room but he says it directly to Caleb to help break the ice between them, to ease the tension of having said something so obvious.

But to finally answer Achilles's statement to tell them what they need to know, Apex gives him a short nod and begins to speak in that deep baritone voice. "The experiments," He begins, finding such a term distasteful, "...are being held in the deepest part of the facility." He brings up a drawing. Multiple pages of drawings by his own hand. He did this after he had taken his shower earlier. They are quick drawings, not overly detailed but they are concise and detailed enough to give an accurate picture of what Apex is trying to describe. He points to the deepest part of the drawing of the facility to indicate that's where the experiments are being held against their will.

"They are heavily guarded and de-powered while in those cells. It'll have the strongest defenses." Apex says, then takes out another drawing, showing a rough, but accurate, sketch of the floor plans of this facility, Apex shows them another accurate drawing of another part of the facility, "This is where Elite will be. If they are trying to brainwash her again, then she'll be in the reprogramming section. If she's not there, then she'll be here." He points to another area on the drawing, "I spent a lot of time in this cell and always stayed there when they were brainwashing me. That's where she'll be. Likely de-powered too and in human form. As a human, she has long brown hair, brown eyes, about 5'10" and an athletic build. I describe her so you each know what to look for. If she isn't in human form, then she looks like a female version of me."

"Here's what I remember of the layout of this facility. It's underground so there really is only one way in. The main entrance. I could dig through the Earth and tunnel my way down to the facility, but that's how I escaped. They'll have a defense for that, so we can't do that. We'll have to fight our way to the main entrance and get in that way. It's our only choice."

Apex continues, "The facility has heavy defenses. Walls strong enough to withstand me, but not forever. One or two cells are made of Adamantium but that won't be a problem since part of our mission will be in cutting the power to the place. Twelve massive generators, all in specially built rooms, surround the facility and are underground. Located here." He says as he points to the floor plans drawing, his finger making a circular motion around the outside of the facility. "We'll need to destroy those first to deactivate the base's defenses. Otherwise, we'll have a LOT harder time getting in as well as out."

Once more, he continues, "In case we can't manage that, expect anything and everything. The Ghosts have been at this for years. They know how and have been trained to deal with a multitude of threats. So expect sound wave, energy weapons, electrical, even this gel that surrounds you only to get harder the more you struggle before trapping you in a cocoon. That's why we need to turn off the power. The facility won't have these defenses on emergency generators. That will leave the soldiers and willing experiments like Crusher to defend the place. So expect humans in power armor and other super soldiers like Crusher."

The Enforcer
The Enforcer

Apex notes this is the most talking he's ever done in many years. But they need to know everything that he does so they can come in and deal with everything without being caught off guard. "Aside from Crusher and one other super soldier, I don't know who else they have. It's been years since I've been there, so be ready for anything. The one other experiment they have is a man who calls himself the Enforcer."

"The Enforcer is a human that is powered by an inter-dimensional energy field called the Strength Force. I don't know much about it, but it makes him as strong as me and every bit as tough. He can also manipulate gravity in a short radius around him, sometimes using it to make himself an unmovable object and becoming impossible to stop once he's in motion. I have fought him many times and I have noticed a weakness. When he uses his strength to lift something, he loses a little of his durability. The more strength he uses, the more his durability is lowered. If he's not using his strength, he's nigh-invulnerable to damage so keep that in mind."

Finally, he pauses, then looks to each of them in turn, "Any questions?"

@symbiote_spider: @apex_predator87: @august_hearst:

A Norse god of thunder and lightning. A demigod from tomorrow's pantheon. An emerald titan with a monster's strength and a hero's heart. And an Omega-level mutant who was more spider than man. They made for an astonishing - if uncanny - team.

"S-sorry, go on"

Caleb's blunder did not go unnoticed, least of all by the American God. "Don't feel too bad, Caleb", Achilles smiled, his words assuring, "It's your first time meeting all of us, so a little nervousness is to be expected. But", the American God paused, his smile giving way to Spartan reserve, "Ours is a mission of the utmost importance. On the field, we can't be nervous, it'll make us prone to mistakes. But you wouldn't be a part of this team if I didn't think you cut it when shit hit the fan. And if it helps ease your nerves, we're counting on you but you can count on us too".

"This'll be tough"

Sweeping his attention back to Apex, Achilles passed his eyes over the the emerald titan's drawings, and his gaze narrowed. The Ghosts had forged an underground fortress, one whose very purpose was to imprison their captives and repel their invaders. "Hmm, this'll be tough. A traditional stealthy infiltration immediately goes out the window if there's only one entrance. And it's heavily guarded". For a moment, Achilles fell silent, held hostage by his own focus. Thoughts and plans cascaded through his mind, and the American God was mute no longer.

"We'll draw them out", he said with a glint of determination, "Force them to fight a battle on our terms instead of one inside a facility they're well equipped to use against us. August and I will draw them out and be the diversion. Between the two of us, we have enough firepower to destroy a couple of mountains, maybe more. Striking the ground with that kind of force will draw anyone's attention, especially an organization of secretive and hyper-paranoid criminals".

"Power armor and the like won't be too effective against August and I, so we'll bank on them sending out the Enforcer to stop the two of us. His irresistible motion is something I can use", Achilles paused. "The more kinetic energy I absorb, the stronger and faster I become. If I can sap some of the kinetic energy from his irresistible motion, it'll make things a little harder for him. August and I will force him to use more strength and therefore, according to your info Apex, lower his durability".

"We'll hold him and the rest of the Ghosts off while you and Caleb emerge from the trees and sneak into the facility. They'll be too busy with us to pay any attention to you two. Once inside, you two'll know what to do with the generators and so on. Once Elite is extracted, tear that base apart from the inside then come help August and I finish off the rest of them".

"Understood?".

August nodded along with his peer. Looking at the Spider with a reassuring nod. The worst thing you can be is a coward, to the self, to others, to the Earth... For the coward will sacrifice anything to save the physical self, even at the price of emotional death; they are willing to become a monster, to let the dark-self live where their true-self once did. But the thing about this team is that they all held true strength within them, despite what the public might think, they were heroes...no. Champions. In August's eyes. The Prince Of Thunder would listen to Achilles and Apex speak holding on to the conversation with unnerving intensity. But the young Prince's eyes would raise when he heard the plan for attack, and a small smile curled upon his lips.

They Will Learn Fear.
They Will Learn Fear.

"We'll draw them out. Force them to fight a battle on our terms instead of one inside a facility they're well equipped to use against us. August and I will draw them out and be the diversion. August would nod in agreement "These foes will learn true fear." Turning in his chair he would flex his muscles and grip his necklace tightly still listening to his demigod friend.

"Power armor and the like won't be too effective against August and I, so we'll bank on them sending out the Enforcer to stop the two of us. His irresistible motion is something I can use", "The more kinetic energy I absorb, the stronger and faster I become. Dáinslief absorbs impact and I can overload him with gravitons forcing him to exert more strength. An onslaught from us will crumble this organization. Your friend will be freed. The Norns will such."

He would turn to Achilles when he completed his speech and offer his new friend a sly smile that rivaled even Loki. He would rip his necklace off his neck and Dáinsleif would appear in it's small hammer form. Looking at the demigod's shield August would formulate an attack. Something that would most definitely get their attention...and could probably wipe out an army. And he would pantomime swinging his hammer then he'd lightly tap Achilles shield....than he'd mimic an explosion. Despite the grim air that surrounded everyone August would turn to his allies with a smile, letting his lighter side creep through. The humorous warrior.

"They have messed with the wrong team. Let us go show them why."
