The City of Angels
The City of Angels

Overview

Los Angeles often known by its initials L.A., is the most populous city in the U.S. State of California and the second most populous in the United States, after New York City, with a population at the 2010 united States Census of 3,792,621. It has an area of 469 square miles and is located in Southern California. Los Angeles is also the seat of Los Angeles County, the most populated and one of the most ethnically diverse counties in the United States, while the entire Los Angeles area itself has been recognized as the most diverse of the nation's largest cities.

Los Angeles was founded on September 4, 1781, by Spanish governor Felipe de Neve. It became a part of Mexico in 1821 following the Mexican War of Independence. In 1848, at the end of the Mexican-American War, Los Angeles and the rest of California were purchased as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, thereby becoming part of the United States. Los Angeles was incorporated as a municipality on April 4, 1850, five months before California achieved statehood.

Nicknamed the City of Angels, Los Angeles is a leading world center of business, international trade, entertainment, culture, media, fashion, science, sports, technology, and education, and has been ranked the third richest city and fifth most powerful and influential city in the world. The city is home to renowned institutions covering a broad range of professional and cultural fields and is one of the most substantial economic engines within the United States. The Los Angeles combined statistical area (CSA) has a gross metropolitan product (GMP) of $831 billion (as of 2008), making it the third largest economic center in the world, after the Greatr Tokyo and New York metropolitan areas. As the home base of Hollywood, the city leads the world in the creation of motion pictures, television productions, stage productions, video games, and recorded music.

Geology

Los Angeles is subject to earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire. The geologic instability has produced numerous faults, which cause approximately 10,000 earthquakes annually. One of the major faults is the San Andreas Fault. Located at the boundary between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate, it is predicted to be the source of Southern California's next big earthquake. Major earthquakes to have hit the Los Angeles area include the 1994 Northridge earthquake, the 1987 Whittier Narrows earthquake, the 1971 San Fernando earthquake near Sylmar, and the 1933 Long Beach earthquake. Nevertheless, all but a few quakes are of low intensity and are not felt. Parts of the city are also vulnerable to tsunamis; harbor areas were damaged by waves from the Valdivia earthquake in 1960.

Cityscape

Downtown Los Angeles-

Downtown Los Angeles- marks the geographic, governmental, and historic center of Los Angeles. Although it is the smallest region of Los Angeles by area, it includes a great variety of diverse neighborhoods, ranging from several modern skyscrapers of the Financial District to the historic structures of the Historic Core to the ethnic enclaves of Chinatown and Little Tokyo. It also contains many cultural attractions and entertainment venues. Downtown is also a center for local and regional transportation, with several freeways passing through and Union Station connecting regional trains to local buses and the metro Line.

East and Northeast Los Angeles-

To the east and northeast of Downtown Los Angeles and the Los Angeles River lies East Los Angeles. The region may sometimes be defined to include adjacent areas outside of the city boundaries of Los Angeles, such as Montebello and East Los Angeles. Many of the neighborhoods of Eastern Los Angeles house large Latino populations, although several neighborhoods, especially in northeast L.A., have more mixed populations. Many of the neighborhoods house very diverse residents. In the northern portions of Montecito Heights there are white populations of Italian and French descent. Eagle Rock also houses significant Latino, White, and Asian (in particular those of Filipino descent) populations and is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Los Angeles County. In Monterrey Hills nearly half of the population is white. The population also ranges from working-class to affluent. The predominantly residential neighborhoods of the region contain many hills, especially in northern regions.

Northwest of Downtown-

Immediately west of Downtown Los Angeles lie some of the city's earliest suburbs. Angelino Heights and Echo Park were the locations of some of the first film studios west of the Mississippi River. Now mostly populated by Latino immigrants, a great amount of distinctive architecture has been preserved from the early 20th century, including the restored Victorian homes in Angelino Heights. This region is one of the most densely populated areas in Los Angeles and serves as the former site of Chavez Ravine which was historically a Latino neighborhood until it was demolished in the 1950s in order to construct Dodger Stadium.

Hollywood-

Formerly a religious colony, then an independent city, Hollywood was annexed by Los Angeles in 1910. Its name is synonymous with the motion picture industry, yet much of movie production has moved out to the neighboring LA communities in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. Tourists flock to Hollywood Boulevard to gaze up to the Hollywood sign in the Santa Monica Mountains. The last decade has brought new life to the once-struggling parts of the Hollywood district, with various developments taking advantage of new subway stations. The wealth of the neighborhoods here is strongly influenced by elevation; some of the wealthiest tracts in the country are up in the Hollywood Hills, with gradually less affluent population leading to pockets of large working-class and transient populations further southeast.

Harbor Gateway-

Following the Harbor Gateway south to the port leads to the Harbor area, an enclave of Los Angeles that is surrounded by various cities and towns. The land of the Harbor Gateway was annexed to the City of Los Angeles so that it would have a contiguous land connection with its seaport. The most prominent neighborhood of the harbor area is called San Pedro.

Los Feliz and Silver Lake-

Nestled between Hollywood and the Los Angeles River are a group of the city's older residential neighborhoods that houses Griffith Park, one of the nation's largest public parks.
Similar to most of the city, communities in this area are significantly wealthier closer to the hills. In this fashion, Los Feliz retained its expensive reputation while other districts further south and closer to Westlake were plagued by gang wars or crime. In the last decade, the area particularly around the Silver Lake Reservoir and now Sunset Boulevard has become closely associated with gentrification, a process which has pushed working-class families out due to high housing costs.

South Los Angeles-

South Los Angeles, formerly called "South Central Los Angeles", includes most of the city directly south of downtown, Interstate Highway 10 (the Santa Monica Freeway, and Wilshire Boulevard, but not those areas as far southeast as the Harbor Gateway, the Harbor Area, or the Port of Los Angeles. This area of Los Angeles is where most of its African-American population resides.

San Fernando Valley-

The largest region of the city is the San Fernando Valley, often referred to as "the Valley," and which includes portions of the Crescenta Valley. It is mainly suburban, and houses a wide-range of socioeconomic groups. It comprises almost half of the city's land area and about forty percent of the city's population. This area is sometimes referred to known as, "North Los Angeles" as the main suburbs of L.A. Mulholland Drive in the Santa Monica Mountains forms its southern boundary. It has gone through periodic clashes with the rest of the city over policy, culminating in a failed effort to incorporate as a city in 2002.

West Los Angeles-

is the part of the city encircled by Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and Wilshire on the east, and Santa Monica and the Pacific Ocean on the west, the Santa Monica Mountains on the north, and Culver City and El Segundo on the south.
While the area is inhabited by a wide range of socioeconomic groups, it undoubtedly houses the largest concentration of wealth in the city. Attracted by its rolling hills on the north end, and close proximity to the ocean, early developers succeeded in establishing some of the most upscale residential districts in the city and the county. Pre-eminent among these are Bel-Air and Pacific Palisades. Yet further south, pockets of working class areas remain in those areas closest to former industrial areas like those near South LA and Culver City.

Westside-

The term Westside, though often debated, refers to both the western parts of the city of Los Angeles as well as adjacent cities and towns, such as Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and West Hollywood. West L.A. or West Los Angeles also refers to a specific neighborhood south of Brentwood and east of Santa Monica.

The Wilshire

Area lies north of the Santa Monica Freeway (Interstate 10), east of Beverly Hills, west of Downtown, and south of Hollywood.The Wilshire area is a collection of wealthy, middle, and working-class neighborhoods that cluster around Wilshire Boulevard. Unlike other parts of Los Angeles the wealthier neighborhoods are set not in the hills, but rather on leveled land north and south of Wilshire Boulevard, east of Beverly Hills such as Larchmont, Hancock Park, and Fremont Place. Koreatown is an example of a neighborhood undergoing a revival, with new condominiums being constructed on Wilshire Boulevard.

Landmarks/Points of Interest

While there exists hundreds of historical landmarks and points of interest in the city, here are a few to really get a feel of Los Angeles.

Walt Disney Concert Hall-

Walt Disney Concert Hall
Walt Disney Concert Hall
The Walt Disney Concert Hall at 111 South Grand Avenue in Downtown Los Angeles, California, is the fourth hall of the Los Angeles Music Center. Bounded by Hope Street, Grand Avenue, and 1st and 2nd Streets, it seats 2,265 people and serves (among other purposes) as the home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestra and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
Lillian Disney made an initial gift in 1987 to build a performance venue as a gift to the people of Los Angeles and a tribute to Walt Disney's devotion to the arts and to the city. The Frank Gehry-designed building opened on October 24, 2003. Both the architecture by Frank Gehry and the acoustics of the concert hall (designed by Yasuhisa Toyota) were praised in contrast to its predecessor, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels-

The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels
The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels
A cathedral of the Roman Catholic Church in Los Angeles, California, United States. Opened in 2002, it is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
The cathedral was built to replace the Cathedral of Saint Vibiana, which was severely damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake. In January 1995, the archdiocese announced plans to build a new cathedral on the St. Vibiana site and began demolishing the old cathedral; however, preservationists blocked the demolition, citing the building's landmark status, and demanded that the old cathedral be incorporated into a new structure. Citing the high cost of bringing the old cathedral to modern seismic standards, the archdiocese began looking for a new cathedral site.
It is mother church to over four million professed Catholics in the archdiocese. In addition to the church, the cathedral grounds also include a mausoleum, gift shop, cafeteria, conference center, and clergy residences. The relics of Saint Vibiana are interred in the mausoleum, as are the remains of several past bishops, archbishops, and auxiliary bishops of Los Angeles.

The second Angels Flight location opened nearby to the south in 1996, with tracks connecting Hill Street and California Plaza. It was re-closed in 2001, after a fatal accident, and took nine years to commence operations again, on March 15, 2010. It has been running safely since, except for another closure from June 10, 2011 to July 5, 2011, with 50 cents the cost of a one-way ride.

The L.N.D memorial is open to the public and gives tours Monday-Friday 8am-8pm for free.

Crime

Like most American cities, Los Angeles has been experiencing significant decline in crime since the mid-1990s, and reached a 50-year low in 2009 with 314 homicides. This is a rate of 7.85 per 100,000 population—a major decrease from 1993, when the all-time high homicide rate of over 21.1 per 100,000 was reported for the year. This included 15 officer-involved shootings. One shooting led to the death of a SWAT team member, Randal Simmons, the first in LAPD's history.

The Los Angeles crime family dominated organized crime in the city during the Prohibition era and reached its peak during the 1940s and 1950s as part of the American Mafia but has gradually declined since then with the rise of various black and Hispanic gangs.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the city is home to 45,000 gang members, organized into 450 gangs. Among them are the Crips and Bloods, which are both African American street gangs that originated in South Los Angeles. Latino street gangs such as the Sureños, a Mexican American street gang, and Mara Salvatrucha, which has mainly members of Salvadoran descent, all originated in Los Angeles. The 18th Street has a predominately Latino membership but is multiethnic. This has led to the city being referred to as the "Gang Capital of America".

'UNDER ATTACK' is a joke referencing a loooooong stretch of time when the CVnU LA thread had 'UNDER ATTACK' in the title, presumably because of some event that occurred in which the title was never changed back (until Nova or someone came along last year and fixed the title, lol).

Of course it's funny. But it Doesn't matter if it's funny lol

listing it as underattack leads to the thought that actual attacks/event is happening in the thread when it's not. It'll lead confusion like it already has to newer RPers.

"I'll... think about it," Sitri answered, "I don't know. Who is this person?" She wasn't used to having people just... bring up her little issue like that. She wasn't used to people knowing about her little issue. She'd been hiding it all her life, after all, and it felt a little weird, that some people just talked about those sorts of things like they were... well, not really normal, but at least... common. Heroes were a weird bunch. Maybe she should just accept that the fact that no one was running away screaming was probably a good thing, but then again, maybe she should be the one running away screaming.

Probably not right now, though. It wouldn't be a good first impression for her first day at a new job. "I'd rather my problems not be... public knowledge," she added. "I don't like the idea of a bunch of people knowing about that stuff. At least... not until when - if - I'm ready. That may be some day, but it may be never. Still, I'd rather keep it quiet for now."

------------------------------------------------

@demonboundsitri

Luna Hawk nodded her understanding. "Then I will make no mention of it to anyone, your secret is safe with me." She assured her gently. "If you decide at any time to take up my offer I'll arrange a meeting between you and Raeyn, but in the meantime I won't bring it up again. Anything you want kept private is kept private, though I do hope you consider the offer."

Since that subject seemed a difficult one for the other woman right now Kendra chose to shift the focus to something else. "Do you mind being introduced to some of the staff today? I want them to know who they can turn to and also who they can expect to have their back if they are ever threatened."

@lunahawk

"No, I don't mind," Sitri answered, "I'd like to get a chance to know people, actually. I feel like the more I know about people here, the better prepared I'll be to spot potential trouble areas." Sitri was pretty sure that "potential trouble areas" was corporate speak for "crazy ex-boyfriends." Luna Hawk had mentioned earlier that a few of her actresses had that sort of trouble. Sitri, thankfully, did not.

That's because you only had one boyfriend and you killed him, and now you don't date. Sometimes, the voice in her head could be a real dick. Accurate, yes, but not what she needed. She pushed it aside; she'd dealt with that a while ago. It was an accident. Yes, it was awful, but sometimes awful things happen. Life goes on.

It was why she didn't date, though. That and she just didn't feel like she had the time or the energy to invest in an emotional relationship, especially now that tinder and okcupid and quick and dirty "dtf" texting was a thing. In Sitri's opinion, it simplified things immensely. Too many relationships were ruined by sex, and too much sex was ruined by relationships. Or something like that. In any case, acquisition of a boyfriend was not in Sitri's current life plan for the foreseeable future. Thank heavens for small favors.

@nightreaver_:

LAX, around 11:45 PST

Tristan stood outside the airport, waiting for a cab and smoking a cigarette while quietly examining a knife he just removed from his luggage. It had been a long few hours, and the Leering Ace's voice in his head was becoming irritatingly repetitive. Come on Trist, you know they're all weaklings and liars. They deserve to die. Take a look at the man with the ring mark on his hand with that pretty young lady. His wife wouldn't like that, she'd likely be grateful to have such a disgusting liar out of her life. And the old lady in the back, she's on her last legs. The least you could do is put her out of her misery.

It had been a year since the last time the smiling devil had killed and Ace had been getting impatient. Tristan was determined to get home without incident. Ace had other plans. He looked around through Tristan's eyes before deciding on a target, a young man passing by close enough to brush Tristan's arm. Ace materialized invisibly behind him and swiped a claw along the man's throat, just as Tristan nicked his own hand feeling the edge of his blade. The stranger made it a few feet before stopping suddenly in the realization that he couldn't breathe. He choked, and the sound caught Tristan's attention. Ace made sure that Tristan alone could see him and smiled wryly. Tristan realized what was happening. "Dammitt, Ace..."

The words were barely out of his mouth when Ace teleported over to the elderly lady and let her see his grinning face. She froze, her eyes widening, her heart beginning to rush, sending her body into spasms as she collapsed to the ground. Tristan ran over to her, but it was already too late. Ace stood immediately behind him, and Tristan was enraged. He sprang from his crouched position behind the woman's body and slashed his knife blindly as he turned around...but instead of hitting Ace's torso as planned, he found himself facing the cheating man. His neck began gushing blood, and his lady companion screamed. Tristan knew better than to hang around and see what came next. He took to his heels just as people began calling for security and dialing 911. The psychiatrist dodged a few guards and disappeared into the shadows of the night.

@bladebrave@demon_diane@solarius

carried on from

The teenager was quick to check a mirror the moment she'd gotten up. Half expecting to find a devil looking at her a reflection giving off the morbid thing voices told her she was. Predicted to find bodies scattered and torn as some evil took hold. That maybe she'd have a brand from a priest who tried exorcism. Of course that wasn't what she'd found just a warm bed and an empty room. Most her belongings stored in a closet, the voices saying it was to move her out. They didn''t have a hold on her now like they had. She knew better, taking a water bottle from a small fridge she pored it on a rag to scrub away some of the dirt and scarlet stains upon her skin. Clean up as best she could, undo the bandages on her hand clean the wound and set up a new bandage. Change of clothes and some added time to her hair and she was feeling better. More at home in her skin, reflecting on the fight made her skin crawl but she'd do her best not to show it.

After a few more moments of relaxing and gaining some composure she bothered to step out of her room. Snatching up a seat besides Nathan and quick to snag the materials to make tea, coffee was gross. "Why on earth would you invite any of them? The guy in purple and the speedster were against heroes teaming up." Skimming some news on her phone showcased the latest hints of superiority from one of them. "It should be about the work not the paycheck, it isnt wrong to want funding though. It's easier to fly an advanced get or teleport to a fight then walk there. Warden's issue is to much secrecy and to bold to know better." It was hard to trust a man who advertised a satelite but then armed it for war, who called for help like a desperate lover but paid no mind to what people might be busy with. None of them were cut out for the job of a hero in Rana's book. "Promise I'll be friendly when they show up though" she remarked with a smile once more returning to her sassy but upbeat self. She had concerns of the party being to replace her still, those fiendish taunts were hard to shake away. She did her best to keep her pink and black haired head up however and not let the side effects of the other day show.

"I worked with her very briefly with STRIKE. She's a bit of an eccentric and more than a little happy to kill people but she's on the right side." Solaris leaned back against the wall, keeping a little distance from the others and watched the two of them for a moment. "Nightwarden and I have a long conversation that needs to be hashed out when he gets here. I'm not going to accept someone trying to manipulate me again, especially if they don't know what the hell they're doing."

"Sure, put her on the list," Nathan said easily, in response to Solaris's suggestion. "Feeling a bit better, girls?" he inquired, of the latecomers to the kitchen party. "Both of you had me worried for a while there. Want to talk about what happened?" He and Diane had been up on the satellite, handling things on that end, while Solaris and Rana had been at other locations, and he still wasn't entirely clear on how things had happened. He wasn't sure he was going to get an answer to the question, at least not right away, but he still felt like it was something they needed to discuss, especially if they were going to work together as a team. They needed to be able to plan and prepare on how to support each other better, in case something like this ever happened again - which, hopefully would not be the case, but realistically... realistically, life had a way of taking the worst things and making them happen.

He was, in fact, a little worried that something like that was going to happen at this party, but at the same time, he felt obligated to try. If the only time the heroes ever got together was when they were fighting - with someone else, with each other, either way - then they were missing out on a lot of opportunities to do genuine good. Maybe he was being a little too idealistic, but he was old enough to know it wouldn't be easy. Just because it was going to be difficult, though, didn't mean it wouldn't be possible. And it was a possibility worth trying for. If they couldn't change things for themselves, maybe they could set things in motion, and the next generation of superhero kids could grow up a little differently, whoever they ended up being.

"Someone, who's name I won't mention but owns a big space station that was recently destroyed, built an automated power enhancer into his station's shields. The shields decided I needed a boost, it completely destabilized my energy matrix and weakened my magnetic containment field. It was all I could do to channel most of the excess energy into a solar flare." The kilometer deep mile wide crater was the result of a contained blast directed into the earth, rather than the much worse result that could have happened.

"If I hadn't realized what was happening in time, there'd be a hole the size of Belgium where there used to be a city and most of the United States power grid would have returned to the stone age. The radioactive fallout would have probably made most of the west coast completely barren of life for the next ten thousand years. To say nothing of the damage the heat bleed out would have caused, likely altering the local weather patterns significantly and flash vaporizing everyone within a hundred miles. That's my conservative estimate anyway." She said.

"At least you were in control" Rana remarked showcasing efforts to be comforting, while concealing the jealousy hell tried to rial up. "Moment I slipped I was gone" though guessing the side effects for Rana was to complex to try. Which scared her, she didn't know if she'd be a insane teen or some walking apocalypse.

"As for what happened I'd rather not say." All she wanted was to be a hero and to prove to herself and others she was capable and not owned by hell. Admiring what'd happend just made her sound weak and unready. At least it felt like that to her.

@solarius: @iridum: @demon_diane:

"You weren't gone," Nathan said calmly. "It might have felt that way, but you were still you, inside all that. You were in enough control to keep yourself from hurting me, at the end. Now, I gotta admit that knocking yourself out to keep from doing it gave me a hell of a scare, especially with you bleeding all over the place, but you found a way to get control away from your little friends and back to yourself, and you had the strength to go through with it. I'm proud of you."

He finished with the cutting and took the knife over to the sink, washing it and his hands carefully. "I'd like it if you tell us what was going on, just because I think that'll make it easier for us to help you in the future, but if you're not ready for that, then you think about it and take your time. We'll be here when you're ready. And we'll be here if you're not. Take your time, kid." Hands washed and dried, he went over to where she was sitting and fluffed her hair, which she'd probably appreciate just about as much as any teenager - which was to say "more than she'd admit."

"Solaris, do you think we can come up with any way to protect you against that sort of thing in the future? Believe me, we'll all be right there while you give Warden a piece of your mind about the issue, but just in case he's not the only one who ever comes up with a bright idea on how to help out, maybe that's something we should start thinking about. I don't know if it's possible, but if nothing else, maybe on thinking about it, if it should ever happen again, you'd at least have a plan - and, if possible, a way to tell us about it." He didn't like the idea of something like that happening again, but at the same time, if they went around broadcasting how to destabilize Solaris to all their allies, he wouldn't want to take bets on how soon that information got out to their enemies, and then every two bit villain could turn her into a walking nuclear bomb.

Well, not everyone, it would take a certain amount of technology or skill, but if the possibility existed, someone would find a way to do it, and Solaris didn't deserve to have that happen again. None of them did.

"Thanks, Diane," Nathan responded to the status update. "Rana is... out for now. I think she made herself pass out somehow, to keep things under as much control as she could. I don't know how long she'll be out. She was pretty far gone, at the end there. I'm worried about her. I'll try to talk to her when she wakes up, but I'm not sure how much she's going to want to talk."

He sighed, shook his head slightly, and tossed a pad of paper and a pen down on the counter in front of Diane. "Here, you can take notes. What's going on is I want to get people together and talk a little bit about how things are, how they're going to be. Give some of the hero-types a chance to meet up with each other before the battlefield, get to know each other and maybe rely on each other a little bit. I told Warden we'd put it together in a few days. Hopefully by then I don't still want to strangle him. I swear misguided idiots do more damage than villains half the time." He stopped, made himself breathe before he went off on a tirade. "Sorry. Anyway. Guest list. Our group. Obligatory Warden @nightwarden17. I want to invite a couple of those others that were up there on the satellite with us. Warpspeed@warpspeed: and the Purple Provocateur@_reynard_. They might have been opposing us, but I don't think they're evil. I think if we'd known half what we ended up knowing at the end, we might have been fighting with them and not against them. Same with that young man we met at the end, Orange Water @orange_water:."

He paused for a little while, thoughtful. "Local area heroes as well. We might be setting up in LA, but we're the new kids in town, and we need to respect those who were here before us and not make it look like we're taking over their turf. That means that Moon Bird girl@lunahawkand anyone else you can think of who ought to be invited."

Diane grabbed pad and pen, and started writing as Nathan spoke. She had no problem with the idea of meeting others. This was a chance to expand, and Safeguard was taking the opportunity to actually put themselves out there. Nut cases like Warden & troublemakers like Reynard & Warpspeed didn't exactly count as the best of company, however a high profile meta- meeting or party was always something she rather looked forward to.

And then, Iridum walked out of her room and towards the kitchen. Diane was glad, she seemed rather okay. That was good. She winked towards the girl on approach.

"Promise I'll be friendly when they show up though"

Diane agreed. They might've seemed like blues, but she didn't trust the flashy and fancy types like that. The world was a much better place without them existing. They sought to monopolize what was unorganized. These were the sort that thrived on the might of their being. They wouldn't want anything to come in the way of becoming a threat for them.

On the other hand, Diane wasn't particularly fond of the methods employed by Warden either. He had no right to just go ahead and decide how a certain group of people were going to behave. Yet another face of cruel humanity, Warden simply sought to control metahumans, keep them under watch, and on radar. This kind of power, once someone had that, it would be no less than a disaster. Good girl Diane thought.

"You should find a way to invite Xae."

The hottie of the group, lightning up darkness, bright as sun, walked in on their little meeting. Diane noted down her suggestion. She had no idea who Solaris referred to, but she would find some way to get the message across to whoever it was.

"Someone, who's name I won't mention but owns a big space station that was recently destroyed, built an automated power enhancer into his station's shields. The shields decided I needed a boost, it completely destabilized my energy matrix and weakened my magnetic containment field. It was all I could do to channel most of the excess energy into a solar flare."

Diane knew who Solarius was referring to. He really was the hottest topic going around. It was laughable in a way. Now the man had suffered billions of dollars in damages, and it was more than likely that he'd face bankruptcy, one way or the other. Diane focused on her list while Nathan spoke to Rana and Solaris.

Guest List:

@nightwarden17 - The Antagonist
@warpspeed - The Hero on the Spaceship
@_reynard_ - The Purple Provocateur
@orange_water - Young Man on the Satellite
@lunahawk - Moonbird Girl
@gale_xanders - Friend of Solaris?
@wes_the_hog - Diane's friend
@lowlaville - Random stranger Diane met
@kaija - Ali's girlfriend / poster girl of UNKD
@seraphic - Seductress who fought Gods and Typhon in Miami

Diane looked over at the teenager and asked, "Is there anyone in particular you want to invite? The list I have here is just about complete too," Of course, Diane realized there were inevitably going to be more people than she was drawing up. They were sending out invites, everyone was free to come as long as they were blue. That was the purpose of this party.

This is just a notification for the party. :)

@demon_diane: How am I an antagonist? That's mildly offensive. Please just give me a chance to explain everything when I arrive. I realize I overstepped. I'm sure we can come to a consensus, I'll won't be focusing on the satellite from now on, I'll be focusing on local initiatives, helping to rebuild Grimm, aiding the poor, healthcare, security, I'd even send some money to Safeguard if you want.

@nightwarden17:

Calm down man. The guest list is something Diane wrote on the notepad IC. Any information contained within it is in her own words! Sorry for the confusion.

The actual OOC is written below in Spoiler blocks. I don't think you are an Antagonist, no. But Diane is allowed to think Warden is so. We are giving Warden the chance to explain, and he will have the chance to explain everything to everyone.

"There are going to be a lot of people there we don't necessarily agree with," Nathan said, deciding to address Rana's first comment now that he felt she was feeling a little better. "But I think that's important as well. If all we ever do is talk to people who we already agree with, that doesn't give us a chance to learn, and it doesn't give anyone else a chance to learn from us. I know I'm not going to agree with everyone there. I may not even like everyone there - but at the end of the day, we're all fighting for a common goal, and if we don't get together and talk about what that means, then that's how you end up getting people calling themselves heroes and doing more harm than good. I know a lot about that. I was that person for about a decade. Saikea... still is. When the only people you're around are people who think like you, you start thinking you must be right. That doesn't make it true."

He picked up the coffee pot and poured himself a cup, thinking for a little while, then essayed, cautiously, "What do you think about those kids from Nebraska?" Nebraska had been a long time ago, it seemed. Most people had moved beyond it, but Nathan had a feeling that there were still some people who had not, or could not. And he had a feeling the junior heroes from Nebraska, who'd taken most of the fallout from that disaster on their young shoulders, might be some of the ones who were still stuck in the aftermath of that event. He hadn't really heard much about them since then - the mech girl @_gaige_ , yes, but not a word from the others. He had a feeling they were staying out of the public, but it seemed... wrong, somehow. He felt like someone ought to be speaking up for them, or at least speaking to them. Maybe someone was, but at the same time, maybe someone wasn't. And if it had been Rana saddled with all that guilt and left alone to stew in it, he'd have been really angry. He wondered if there was anyone out there who was angry for the other kids.

"You have no idea how happy I am to hear you say all that." Solaris said. It was nice to hear humans talk about fixing their problems and getting a long instead of killing whatever disagreed with them that day. "I think if they're terrorists, they're really bad at it. They killed two people, who happened to be in the military fighting them."

Solaris crossed the room and looked down at the list of names, nodding a little to herself. "A few more people and we might as well invite the whole community. I think it's a good idea though and hopefully the location in the middle of a residential area will make people think twice about doing anything stupid."

"They were also casualties, brought on by more measures then they could account for. Of the two of them accused the most one was basically in a war machine and the other could manipulate gravity. I'd say invite them, if they'd wanted to do serious harm then they would have done so." The heterochromia hellion remarked in regard to the other team, honestly that endeavor was more complex then media wanted to show. So many meta-humans also just naturally complicated things, so much energy attacks and super human strength was displayed in one place. It opened the door for situations to go sour. "Can't really think of to many others" she wasn't the most social of people.

Then came the questions and subject of what'd happened. "You weren't gone," Nathan started, she disagreed a blood thirsty girl wasn't her. "It might have felt that way, but you were still you, inside all that." A conduit at best she'd taken the back seat in her own mind."You were in enough control to keep yourself from hurting me, at the end." That didn't really count, she wasn't after friendly fire she was a better person then that, but that was just knowing friend from foe. "Now, I gotta admit that knocking yourself out to keep from doing it gave me a hell of a scare, especially with you bleeding all over the place, but you found a way to get control away from your little friends and back to yourself, and you had the strength to go through with it. I'm proud of you." Pride was the only thing that designated, it was hard to take that to heart however when the girl tried to run from the sins that looked to consume her. Even if she could be proud in being strong she'd arguably feel bad for it. "I'd like it if you tell us what was going on, just because I think that'll make it easier for us to help you in the future" she disagreed it was in her head and nobody exactly was a telepath on the team. And if they'd have been she wouldn't have wanted to let them in. Nobody should suffer that"but if you're not ready for that, then you think about it and take your time. We'll be here when you're ready. And we'll be here if you're not. Take your time, kid." She liked the touch more then she'd have cared to admit, the kid remark striking a bit of a nerve though. Not one usually to take offense right now she thought of herself as lesser then her peers and remarks on age helped to solidify it.

"I can open a portal next time you go super nova maybe. Give you a safe place to go off, well not really safe by conventional standards. But you'd burn away most threats should be safe" Rana remarked offering what she could to the threat Solaris could provide. "As for what happened on my end, lets just say I shouldn't try and open portals into space again." She remarked looking to evade as much of the question as she could.
