The Mutant Nation – A History
Venezuela. Once a deteriorating socialist experiment, turned the plaything of powers beyond the grasp of mortal men. In the hands of humans it burned. In the hands of mutants it arose. All humans exiled or dead, a paradise built by mutants, for mutants.
Deep under the black soil of the Venezuelan forests mutants found vast reserves of vibranium. Wealth and power undreamed of poured into their hands. Overnight Venezuela became a global power which demanded respect for its mutant populace through strength.
As the stronghold for mutants it is ruled by the strongest for only the strong can protect the mutant race in a hostile world.
The first ruler was Xenon, King through his martial prowess and telepathic might. However he vanished, presumed dead.
For months Venezuela drifted, rudderless and leaderless until it attracted the attention of Ivana, a Strigidae and twenty third of her rank. Gathering her allies and a coalition of mercenaries she struck, slaying her only rival with a single knife throw and seizing the kingdom, though at a terrible cost; her eyesight.
Now the dust has settled. The remains of the dead have been removed from the streets and Ivana of the Strigidae death cult has ascended to her place on the throne.
Venezuela has undergone seismic changes at the top. Though Xenon and Ivana were similar in many ways, such as their burning contempt for humanity, however they also rule in different ways.
Ivana has imported her own supporters into the country and placed them in key positions to solidify her grasp on the country and reward those who have served her faithfully.
The Huntington Monarchy
Following the Strigidae’s abdication of the Venezuelan throne, the mutant nation developed its own electoral system in hopes of forming a democratic state. This optimistic dream led to internal political war not unlike many modern countries. The mutant abilities of those sparring for power wreaked havoc over the nation’s population, calling yet again for a change in its political style. This led to the rise of the Huntington Monarchy.
History tells of the genetic dominance of the Huntington Family throughout Old World as well as modern history. Their unmatched x-gene potential has cemented them as gods among humans and mutants alike. This paired with their present-day activism for mutant affairs made them a unanimous choice for Venezuela’s first royal family.
The monarchy is governed by the head of the Huntington patriarch, Alaric Huntington, his wife (Emma), and their four children (Valerie, Jordan K., Adriana, Liam), who act as the ruling political family for the nation. They are aided in affairs regarding the nation’s interests by similarly well-regarded mutant elites, many of which are extended Huntington family members.
Alaric is rarely seen or heard from as head of the monarchy, allowing for his eldest child, Valerie, to serve as the acting ruler of the nation and face of the mutant people.
Isla Olympus
After assuming reign over Venezuela, the Huntington Family took residence on a small island off the coast of Venezuela. The citizens of Venezuela titled the island “Isla Olympus”, in regard to the native Spanish language of the country as well as the godlike reputation of the Huntingtons. The family built an estate to house their family and staff, which is surrounded by a small city-state of mutant citizens.
Isla Olympus is considered the capital of Venezuela and is where all political engagements or ceremonies are held. It is heavily guarded from various forms of attack by both technological defenses as well as the mutant abilities of its armed forces. Its remote location and the unpredictable ocean tides surrounding it also make the journey to reach it a difficult one.
The island's architecture pays tribute to the Gothic Spanish style but has been constructed with the usage of modern material. This balance of a classic design and futuristic execution gives it the beautiful aesthetic of a modern paradise. The island's tropic climate breeds vibrant flora and fauna to enhance its utopian appeal.
The New Age
The Huntington Monarchy has kept many laws instated by the Shogunate to make the political transition a smooth one. Several of these include strict regulations on the acquisition of rare and invaluable vibranium. They have also presented many new policies designed to protect and expand the rights of the mutant population. They seek to broaden the Shogunate’s vision for Venezuela by using their international political influence to make mutant society accepted worldwide.
The largest shift in political affairs has been the Huntingtons’ interest in a strong military state. They believe this essential in proving to the world that Venezuela and all mutants should be regarded with respect as a political presence. The Huntingtons’ vision for Venezuela is a nation leading the world in medical, technological, and military capabilities in order to maintain a utopia without an equal.
