@Lord_Johnathan: Depends on the country too. Bounty hunting is a legitimate and respected profession in the USA, and the same with mercenaries. (Although they usually go by 'bail bondsmen' and 'security contracter' )

The soldiers in the Military generally regard "Security contracters" with utter and complete contempt even if they're technically legal. The rest of the world also doesn't look very kindly on them.

@Lord_Johnathan: Again, depends on the military. Just because some people in some militaries view PC's negatively you can't say that everyone in all militares do.

Its very difficult to become a PC in any american company without first serving in the military, and its an attractive job because the pay is often much better. (A friend of mine was making 9K a month at nineteen years old. Many of them make far more than he did)

Well, most of the servicemen I've been exposed to seem to regard PC's as money grubbing psychopaths who'd desert America in a heartbeat if the other guy offered them a better paycheck. But that's been a stigma associated with private militarymen since mercenaries were a thing.

Guess Mercenaries have come a long way since the thirty years war where one side could bribe away an entire army. :P

@Vorzhilok_the_Traumatizer: I think its less the contractors themselves, and more the awareness of the current military balance of power.

Not only would they be very unlikely to actually survive any battles against US forces, but after they inevitably lost the conflict no country in the world would be safe for them.

The reason why Vine canon is so convoluted and disjointed is that at some unknown point in the past multiple parallel realities merged. The characters with the most constant reinvention and retcons are due to their having to adapt to more versions of themselves merging than the norm. The reasons and forces behind this event remain unknown to even the most omniscient within the Vine Prime reality.

How the hell is canon convoluted? I Mean, Yes there is minor things with individual character's individual canon...But nothing on the big scale

@shadowknight666: The Ninjans invaded.. then somehow that magically didn't happen, and now its happened again.

France is floating in the sky in some peoples canon, and russia is ruled by a vampire in some peoples canon. But in others, and their RPGs, its not.

The west coast got destroyed in WWWII's first post, same with Hawaii. Obviously not canon to many people.

Someone blew up the moon, yet Impero and Liberty had a very romantic date there.

And.. so forth.

@Kratesis: The Ninjans clearly invaded, It's just there were so many plot holes

France is floating in the sky and russia is ruled by a vampire, They did not write two GIANT RPs for it not to be canon

West Coast...Okay I'll admit that's muddled

The Moon thing, You got me there too.

I Still don't see a problem though, NONE of these things are hindering anyone's writing whatsoever

@shadowknight666: Some of those things are part of why I haven't written Liberty in a long time. The large scale vine is so confused its very difficult to have character that operates on that scale.

So while they might not hinder everyones writing, many of the problems with vine canon have affected my writing.

@shadowknight666: Yeppers. On one hand its doesn't really affect some people. On the other hand it forces everyone down into that street level area if they want to have a realistic effect on the world.

So while I enjoy Kratesis a lot, i do wish that the LL level scene wasn't made so difficult by the current state of the canon.

@shadowknight666: Hehe, that's kinda my point. Characters must have an impact equal to their scale to be believable.

Cain has a personal impact on other characters inside his circle, the same as most normal people (makes sense.. as he is a normal person mostly). He's certainly made an impact on Longshot, on various street-level events, and has really good showings even against Closer and his empire. He's made the RIGHT impact.

Liberty is kinda stuck. What would be logical for her would be retaliation against the Ninjans for the deaths of 40% of the world, and to attack russia. But I can't really DO either of those, or anything else on that scale. Which is okay at first... but after so long the character stops being believable.

Grimm city has a massive shroud that ends at it's city limits. The shroud makes it so that it is always night and everything is filtered black and white, sin city style.
