Something I proposed on the "Official RPG Ideas Thread" that I thought I'd make its own thread for the sake of seeing just who all might be interested in this idea. I already know one person is, but I wanted to see if anyone else was too.
Restating the premise from the orignal post, the idea is a six man team of Exiles, like in the original series, being sent by the Timebroker to an alternate universe' Wakanda, with the task of unseating its ruler: The Shadow King. In this world, early on in his marriage to Storm, Black Panther was possessed by Amahl Farouk so completely that nothing remains of T'Challa's psyche. Using Wakanda's futuristic technologies, Shadow King enhanced his psychic abilities to new levels, completely dominating Ororo's mind. He then used her powers to seal off Wakanda and it's neighboring nations from the rest of the world in an impenetrable dome of hostile weather, ensuring that his iron-fisted rule would not be challenged.
As Exiles, your mission will be to infiltrate Wakanda, evade the Shadow King's forces and whatever surprises he may have in store for you, free Storm from his control if possible, and most importantly, end Amahl's reign of terror... By whatever means necessary.
Consisting of the players' reimaginations of pre-existing Marvel heroes & villains, the team needs to be six men (& women) strong, with various skill sets between them that make them adaptable to whatever situation they may face on their missions. This doesn't necessarily have to be how the line-up can turn out, but optimially, the team should have:
- A leader, someone experienced with being part of at team and strategizing under fire.
- A magic specialist.
- Someone who knows their tech, a hacker, mechanist, inventor, etc.
- A stealth specialist, someone who can get into and out of places without being easily detected.
- Muscle, brawn, someone who can dominate a fight and take damage (i.e. a tank).
- An energy powerhouse, a person we can rely on for fly-by strikes and damage, but not so overpowered that they plow through the mission with ease (essentially, no god-modes or su/stu characters).
Again, this doesn't have to be the set criteria for the team, seeing as this sort of specialization rarely showed up in the initial Exiles series. I should note though, that it would be beneficial for the team to have a telepath on this mission, seeing as they're going up against a psychic heavyweight like the Shadow King and all.
Anyhow, that's the primary idea for the moment. Sound like soemthing you guys might be interested in trying out? Again, this is my first time trying my hand at making one of these campaigns (and/or, being a "DM," if you will), so I'm not sure how well this will all work out. I'm willing to hand the reins over to a more experienced person for the finer details of the campaign though, if need be, so there's that.
