CVaU: Because I can, really.

Not done with CVbU by any stretch but I've determined that the world needs more..uh...worlds?

So I'm going to create CVaU or Comic Vine Ancient Universe which is literally the exact opposite of CVbU. All of the locations will be familiar ones but they will be ancient versions of themselves. This will be a world that exists as another reality, it's not the past of CVnU, it's a world that is in its ancient phase with hints of a time that has come before. I'll follow basically the same template as I have been for CVbU except with old stuff. Just like CVbU the purpose of this universe is for people to jump in and out as they wish and have some Alt fun for awhile outside of the main universe. I'll request the locations be put on the location thread because I expect low activity or infrequent activity and that will make it easier for people to find the various locations.

First on my list is Ancient Egypt, second is Ancient Gothic...who knows after that =).

Any locations you'd like to see get the Ancient treatment? Keep in mind they won't be Historically ancient (Except for Egypt) because the world didn't evolve the same way. So there can be an Ancient LA, for example.

I kinda feel like there wouldnt have been an "ancient" Gothic but thats me.

@supreme_shaytan: Could be wrong, but I just assumed it was something kinda like Marvel 1602, where it's basically just an alternate universe set in the past. Same/similar characters (if writers so desire), different genre, so to speak. Or a different feel.

Could be wrong. That was just my assumption, or how I resolved the "Ancient Gothic?" conflict in my own head.

I got that vibe too, its been awhile but I think even in 1602 there were marvel locations that hadnt been developed yet. American itself was still in its infancy in that series. No Hells Kitchen, I think the Baxter building was gone as well. The Inhumans werent moon based they were pirates, things like that. Not that I have an issue with ancient Gothic. Just seems like a cool idea to have some current locations that had yet to be created in an ancient sitting.

I don't think it needs an Ancient Gothic; just that Gothic, since its inception, has been one of those places that people flock to or at least maintained a relatively stable amount of activity, so I can see why Hawk decided to make it anyway....for now, at least. Once the hipster instincts kick in, people're gonna go "blah, Gothic! Hate it!" But for now...

Yeah it's definitely for activity purposes, I wanted a place that people really associate with easily and I'm still working out my plans for an ancient version of Gothic. As certain details of the setting become known it will seem less weird.

Would this be a good chance to try one of those things I talked to you a while back that would be an alternative version of Hawk Lords with different animals and a different god and different specific system?

Yes. All the gods of Egypt have their own version, Hawk Lords are just more numerous and popular.
