@valerie_huntington: *Drops phone*
It's Val!!!
Electrons do not behave randomly and neither do chemical processes. Every electrical and chemical process that would ever occur was set into stone the moment the laws of physics stabilised. In the real universe, you have no free will because that's impossible. Arguments to the contrary are impossible; there are only fallacies to the contrary.
Of course, this puts me in a bit of a predicament, existentially speaking.
@aria_al-sef: I love that saying and the outlook it implies. Determinism is near and dear to Ivana and Arrachtach's heart.
@strigidae_23: I thought that seemed right up your alley.
"All worlds begin in darkness and also ends the heart is no different, darkness sprouts within it, grows, consumes it...in the end every heart returns to the darkness from once it came. You see darkness is the hearts true essence." -Ansem(Heartless)
James Merrarn: "I once considered 'by reason alone', however discovered it faulted, by reason, because no matter how smart we think we are and how much we know. We simply cannot comprehend everything."
You thought I was a remnant. An old wives tale meant to scare the bad children...those bad children have grown into evil men. What stories will you tell now? None...the stories will be their own. The day they looked into the eyes of Black Virtue.
@charlemagne: oooOoOoohhh. Ominous.
@charlemagne: Wha???!!!
Is he actually going to stick around for a while to start some shit or are you just teasing us again?

@miss_america_: That's from Black Sails, an underrated show on Starz. I've not seen The 100 so I don't know if it's good or bad. That being said, I am using gifs of Roan from the show lol
"I have been on zis Earth for 106 years, you think I have wasted it? I devoted myself to studying the ancient world, ze arts of necromancy... bridges between life and death that your American TV shows can barely even fathom."

"I fight for myself only. Don't get too comfortable with me nearby."
"Everything I have and am, I owe to myself only."
"Do I look like a banker? No? Then you should know, I don't to loans."
"Knowledge is truly the source of all power. One only needs to find the most applicable material"
"Horizons are boundaries that limit only mortals. They are nothing to gods."
"Death is a pleasantry and should never be confused as anything else"
"The imaginary things can be the most dangerous in the universe. Every weapon, magic, technique and army started out as nothing more than an idea"
I was ancient when the first primitive organics squirmed from their primordial soup. I have seen countless biological organisms evolve, develop, build mighty civilizations and empires, and then vanish back into the uncaring nothingness. In may cases, I have taken it upon myself to snuff out these fragile, flickering flames, but in many more, I needed only to wait and observe, while they inevitably orchestrated their own oblivion. Organics are doomed by their very nature, because they lack the power to ever fully separate themselves from their base, biological urges, and those urges will always ultimately assert themselves over the higher functions of even the most advanced animal mind, and utterly destroy all that they have built.
"It's not about the means, only the result."
"Of course knowledge is power, but power is it's own reward. Nothing more exists."
"There's nothing like feeling the crushing of bone beneath your boot, or the smell of searing flesh melting onto you lightsaber."
Greed, avarice...where do these things get us? All things have a price, it's true, but does that mean we must stockpile our common means of currency? Money, power...no matter how strong they make you seem, they just make us soft and vulnerable in the end. Take a lesson from the fox and the raven: take only what you need to survive, not more, not less. What good do riches and past strength do you if you're dead?
It doesn't matter how big the wolf is, or how cunning the snake, or how reknowned the hunter. What matters is how long the fox can evade him, how vicious the bird is in engaging him, and how determined the prey is to survive.
There is nothing more inherently amusing than a human who thinks himself powerful. Human power is, by its very nature, limited, because even the most tyrannical despot is utterly dependent, to some extent, on the consent of his fellow humans. Human sentiment is beholden to emotion, so in order to gain true power over humanity, one must control not just what they think, but what they feel, their base urges and desires. Control over a being of free will is an oxymoron, a deluded fabrication of minds deeply in denial over their own weakness, for the only time one is in complete control over another is when the resident will has been crushed.
