I need your help…please guide me…teach me in the way that you where taught …I’m going to make him proud but I’m not strong enough how can I win when I’m not strong enough!”
“I’m not strong enough!” Talon screamed as she jerked forward from her bed as she ruffled her covers. Her emerald eyes flashed all around her as a cold sweat poured down her face and drenched her bed. Her black locks laid on the side of her face as she sat herself back, pulling the covers over her. As her back seated against the back of the bed. And like a scared little girl she sat there her bedding covering her. She was so scared. So vulnerable so….so weak! She slowly calmed herself down as she took another look at her dark room, The dim lighting of the moon light crawled through her windows and soon engulf her resting place.
Her eyes flickered feral yellow as the moon light hit her eyes. But soon it disappeared behind a drifting clouds above and darkness remerged itself. She felt scared. Something she had never felt before. She was immobilized. Staring, frightened out her window. But her gaze was not aimless. There was a purpose. She knew what needed to be done. There was a larger battle facing her and she needed to be ready. She was going to show them what she was….most of the time she barely was a live. Yes blood numbed through her veins yet she never truly was alive. Now she was…she was so close to awakening. So close, and it was dangerous.
Slowly she pushed aside her linins and her full body was revealed in the moon light. She so seldom slept in her bed that when she did it was always nude. As she placed her bare feet on the wooden floor she slowly walked over to her dresser and pulled out a pair of clothes. But these where not just any clothes they where special. They where significant. It was her uniform. Before Wolf Pack, before Hyperion, before Secret Wars. She needed to remember who she was and she was: Weapon X-23 of the Facility. Number 372, agent X. That was who she was…and she needed to remember.
Placing on her Facility uniform she walked over to her cupboard and picked up her cell phone quickly dialing a number she had not for several years. It rang a few moments before there was an answered. “Agent Conduct, address yourself” the voice was cold, and much harder that before but the voice spoke to Conduct was harder. “Weapon X-23, of section 001 number 372, I require your assistance!” She could hear the agent on the other side gasp in shock as there where a few second of silence. “X…X-23?...Why…how, what is the reason for this drastic action I though…” “I am presently located in Scotland. Your devices should be able to locate me with that information.” “Answer my question X! Now!” The voice on the other end was angered. Laura knew this but that did not change her.
“I require you to bring me in. I bestow you the honor. Find me with in 5 hours do you understand. And if you do not….them I’ll have to go else where..” With that she hanged up and placed her phone back on top of the surface. With that she quietly opened her door and exited her room. Her sword was in hand and her daggers in her belt that wrapped itself around her waste. The truth was, she wasn’t strong enough. She could never be! If she had any hopes in completing her mission she’d have to do the unexpected and by that she meant turning herself in….but to whom? There where many people who wanted her but there was only one she desired to find her…who she knew she could count on into making her a monster once more and that….that was the Facility.
Like a ghost she drifted in the halls of the manor. Her dark locks laying over her sword. She was able to located a harness for her word that would be able to hold her sword on her back. The moon light hat entered through the transparent windows glimmered off her sword and reflected on the walls. Her fist where tightly closed. And her eyes where set ahead of her at the large double door exit that she would soon be going through. There where still doubts in her mind as to what she was going to do. If this was the right thing to do. But she had passed right a long time ago. Now things needed to happen, She’d waited a long time and now, now she would find out who she was.
As she pushed aside the two doors the icy wind filled the halls as she quickly exited her home and locked the doors. She did her best to make it appear as if she was never here. Doing her best to keep her scent hidden. What she needed to do. She needed to do alone. She was not strong enough. She never could be. She needed to change. At her current situation a confrontation with her opponent would prove fatal. Even though he was banned from using some of his powers it did not make it any less harder. Constantine, was a hard adversary she stood no chance against him. And she knew that very well.
As she disappeared into the forest she thought a moment about what she was going to do, and if her father would approve, and he probably would not. Walking into the belly of the beast he’d object to it. He’d object and say what she doing is a drastic attempt to become stronger. He’d say that she does not need to so this. He’d say that he’d always be there to help her if she needed him. But he had helped her so much more than she ever knew possible. It was time for her to do something with out his permission. She had no Idea what effect it would have on her…but she had to try….she need to be stronger!
As she approached a clearing in the Scottish woods she waited there as the time passed slowly. She had all the tie in the world to reconsider her choice. But she would not. When she made a decision she stayed to it and did not change. Nothing would change….only her attitude. Soon the sound of a pair of foot steps filled the silence as they came nearer. Her eyes shifted to her figure that had just came into view. The moon light hit her as she could see her face clearly. “Well X-23, its been a long time” the young woman said with a simple smirk. Talon smiled and chuckled slightly. “Yes…yes it has old friend”
Two weeks Later, (One week till the Championship)
Slowly She approached the Wolf Pack manor. Exhausted and probably even more tired than she ever thought possible. She appeared not do different than when she had left. Though her hair had grown out a little more, along with her eyes which where in their feral form. Her hands where clenched and covered by the black gloes that encompassed themShe had not noticed that though. She was to tired to even think of any thing else. But at least she did it. Whether it would work or come to any use she would have to wait for the battle and see. Brushing aside her long black locks of hair from the sides of her face she inhaled the forest air. She had missed the trees, the manor even the annoying Akwa.
At this point she realized what a blessing she had been given. Sure she didn’t get along with every one perfectly yet, they tolerated her and she the same. But to think that she could have still been a HYDRA agent working for the Facility, going on assassination mission. To think she could have never escaped HYDRA. Doing what she did reminded her of what she had. And she was not willing to loose it she never could be! This was hr home. She was the daughter of a king!
Not bothering to climb though her window she pushed both of the doors aside with great force that they banged against the walls. Slowly she processed to walk to her chambers where she’d get herself cleaned up and most likely rest a while. Approaching her door she pushed it open was glad to see that no one had been in here recently. Slinging her bag on the floor she removed her attire and walked into the bath room. She could have showered but she always did that. She had a bath in her room, why not use it? Because “It would be an inefficient wait of time” .
Her better scenes replied to her. She sighed and retreated by taking a shower instead. The day that she would be able to get rid of her weapon side manor would be that day that she’d be free. But till that day she’d do every thing in her power to be as decent and tame as possible. After five minuets she turned off the water and stood there a moment as the heat from the water discontinue. And though the cold breeze blew in threw her window she just sat there against the tiled walls thinking to herself. “Can I really do this, what if I fail? Will he still keep me afterwards…What will I tell him if I fail?”
Finally she suppressed these questions and soon dressed herself in something night worthy yet also able to walk in public with, with out any one thinking twice. But soon the scent of her father came into play as she heard his foot steps. She knew he was coming to her location she could smell it off him. Quickly she leaped onto her bed and sat herself down ad decent as possible. She sat there a moment her heart racing. It was only then that she noticed that her eyes where still in their feral form. And just in time. As he knocked on the door her eyes faded jade as gave him permission to enter.
Why was he here? Was there something wrong with her previous performance? Was he less than happy about her. Did he know about where she went. But all those thoughts faded when she saw a smile form on his face. She sighed in relie f as he sat himself down across from her. Truthfully she felt awkward remained silent as she stared at him. "Well," he said with a slight chuckle. "These past few weeks have certainly been interesting to say the least....." She nodded in a agreement to what he said.
"You've come such a long way, Laura.... Why, it seems like only yesterday that I took you in. My my, you were wild back then... just as wild as you are right now.... just as I was when I was your age....." She could not stop herself from revealing a small smile at his remark. Yes she was wild back then, seeing every thing to be pointless and her life to be meaningless wild didn’t cut it. But she’d changed only now she was wild in a whole completely different way. But as she looked in to her fathers eyes she could see that wildness with in him. And previously she had seen it.
"Tomorrow I will be leaving for Athens." He said continuing the train of thought ".....and I want you to come with me, Laura. For an event such as this, it is important for you to be at my side." Thought she kept her calm appearance she was devastated inside. didn’t he not trust her, did he think he needed to keep an eye on her. Did he think her un-loyal. But then he smiled again and she had to hide her annoyance for how he always left her jumping to conclusions. "Do not misunderstand, I do not want to check up on you or anything..... It's just that... it would make me proud as your father to have you by my side.... if you would."
She felt like letting out a scream of joy and quickly accepting is proposal, yet she remained calm. "If you decide to accompany me, we will be leaving tomorrow morning. I will let you know when we are ready to depart." Just then before he got up he stared into her eyes. She didn’t move didn’t flinch as he uttered those few small words "Goodnight, Laura......"
With that he left Laura inn her room an in silence. She was over joy that her father did not feel embraced by entering her chambers. Actually she’d always wanted him to do something like that. Now if only she was able to retaliate her feelings toward him….maybe then would she be able to fully see herself as his daughter. But it was getting late. And she knew The Greystoke Ledged waited for no man….or daughter any way. She looked at her hands a moment then sighed as she left her gloves on. So slowly and silently she crept under the covers and slowly drifted off to sleep.
The next morning Laura was frantic, she was excited to a point that she was slightly showing it in her eyes. Se was eager to right and ready to win if even at all possible. She got herself up and quickly dressed herself ad awaited William Greystoke to call for her. It was obvious that he wanted to get there as quickly as possible yet in style. Though se was a little bit uncomfortable with the several Lycan body guards that accompanied the two of them, she had forced herself not to mind. At the air port to Athens they rode on a privet jet to their location. It was very nice, though Talon had traveled a lot she never took fist class.
As she was seated next to her father she cautiously looked over to him. She had been rehearsing what to say to him all night now was time to say it “Sir Greystoke. I am honored for this opportunity to accompany you to Athens in this kind of manor. And I an truly grateful to e going with you.” There all said and done…but now it was time for Laura to speak “And I want to thank you for every thing you’ve done for me. Even though it may appear as if I don’t care or don’t noticed I noticed every thing you do. Down to the smallest gestures of kindness. And I am sorry that I can never repay you fro what you’ve don’t…and” she paused holding back the tears in her eyes “I’m sorry that I can’t express my gratitude and my feelings the way I want to”.
With that sniffed and wiped her tears quickly looking away from her father. But as she looked back at him she did not see disappointment in his eyes and to her that was good. As the flight progressed the exhaustion of those two weeks got to her as she caught herself drifting off to sleep several times. She didn’t know how, or when it happened. But as she fell asleep she awoke to find herself leaning on her fathers right arm as she held it tightly. In shock she quickly pulled away and almost fell backward off her seat wide eyes and stared at him a moment then attempted to calm herself due to this uncalculated action of emotion.
The flight soon landed after that as the two set foot in Athens. Every thing was smooth from there, they where accompanied by the guards to a Hotel set up by the United Nations. And like the flight it was firs class. Never the less as her father was about to enter his room she motioned for him to wait and entered first. Sure this as what the Lycans did, secured the room. But f there was one thing she knew she was good at this. Detecting any thing from listening devoices to bombs. But gladly she could find non and quickly gave her father green to enter. With that she slowly approached her room but stopped at the door. Looking around she saw no on around and quickly headed to the roof of the hotel.
Emerging she was stuck by the day light that hit her strait on. Sitting herself down on the roof she stared out yonder and thought about her father, about her actions and about her future.
