Poll Can I destroy China? (33 votes)
Welcome to Click Bait title thread. In all honesty I'm asking if anyone has a problem with me using Beijing for an event location that would most likely result in most of the city getting blown apart.

@undefined: Ooooooohhh! Interesting!
No, the whole reason we had to restart the CVU was because too much of the world was destroyed. I would like to avoid having to do another reset so soon.
I'm generally against 'shock value' destruction for two reasons.
A: There is no shock. We aren't shocked that some major part of the world was exploded. We don't feel shock or awe and we aren't impressed by super powerful new villains. We feel mildly annoyed.
B: There is no value. Nothing ever comes of this, it never creates interesting canon, it rarely creates an RPG but even if it does its just one RPG, and it just serves to become another thing that annoys people.
No one ever wants break anything anymore!!! I say go crazy have fun.
I'd say it depends on the event and the reason why, but you going in already thinking that the end result is going to be destruction is a little off-putting. It scares me because I feel like you knowing what you want the end of an event to be and setting it up as if that's just what's going to happen tends to take from the event itself and takes away the opportunity for quality content on the vine.

This right here, Fellas. #truth
You need more story for it, basically. People aren't quite as interested when it just happens to be another rampaging villain with a predictable ending.
I have a different question that I'll ask here because it's sort of related (because it's the polar opposite):
Can I rebuild Emerald City?
@the_custodian: You asked the wroooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong person lol.

This, with annoyance values ranging from "mild" to "this is sofa king lame."
Here's the thing. Worded the way this is, it makes it sound like the destruction is the whole point of the business, with the RP just being fabricated so you can indulge in some wanton destructo-physics. I'm not saying that this is the case, and I understand you not wanting to give away your entire RP, but you're almost guaranteed to get more downvotes than otherwise, because this is what it implies.
@the_custodian: if you want to rebuild emerald city, talk to Sha, since it's her thread.
That's also a world-changing event that could possibly lead into WW3. So the story part of it will have to be... Pretty heavy.

I'm just curious as to what purpose
I consider my thoughts of trying to capture New Mexico to be too major.
Speaking of which, is taking a state for myself too major?
2.086 million people, 121,697 square miles of people? Yep. Too major.
IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION FOR ALL WHO SAW THIS
The title worked and did it's job to get people to look but I don't think some of you read the description and it wasn't explained well enough. The whole premise of said RP is going to be a war thing, a basic follow up to The Age of Imperialism by Eclipse. When I said China I meant Beijing but, saying china brought more people here because that sounds outlandish and crazy. The whole mass destruction thing is probably going to happen due to the power levels that are coming so I need the community permission to host an event that will most likely have a high death toll and some alot of things going boom.
...sorry, it's been a long day.
@twin_dragons_: I definitely read it, and I understand the difference between China and Beijing. I assume that's the case with most people. But that...doesn't really change the nature of what you're getting at. It still comes off as destruction for the sake of destruction or attempted shock value/"hey look at how powerful I am."
At least, my sentiments stand.
@arquitenens: Don't tempt me. It's the kind of character I'd make, too. ;)
PUNISH THESE SINNERS
I would like to point out that he is actually not intent on destroying the whole of China. The title was meant only to capture your attention, he intends to endanger Beijing from the looks of it.
Ehhh I don't know, I think he might have a plan but it involves this and he's asking for everyone's thoughts on it.

This is exactly what I'm saying. The plan is something entirely different and I'm simply asking for your permission as the community to use china in the OOC information that will happen. Everyone needs to be patient and let the story unfold as it goes on. If the OOC gets enough negative backlash then I will cancel the event. I just need permission to say that its happening there.
@nemesis_liafador: Every time I try and talk to them I get ignored soooo.
@twin_dragons_: I think most of us get it.
The title was click bait. The rp ain't out to just destroy. But the rp likely will result in it.
But people are hesitant I think cause we've only been told of destructive potential, as opposed to narative potential.
It's also just got the bad timing, as we've had Greece, we've got Columbia, there was recently Denver, and we aren't sure if the sky empire claim is still going to happen. You dropped an idea when the vine might be tired of the core concept behind it
