◇ Westden ◇
Isolated in a remote, snowy region in the freezing extremes of the American northwest, Westden is a town surrounded by a large forest and locked in a perpetual winter that cuts it off from the rest of the country. GPS, mobile data, etc., rarely work in its graying streets. Only landline calls work as a reliable means of communication. Small in community and understaffed in law enforcement, Westden has never dealt with crimes beyond petty theft and vandalism.
Alas, a series of harrowing disappearances has disturbed the town’s peace.
At the onset of these disappearances, foul play wasn’t considered. Instead, local law enforcement explained them away as townsfolk getting lost on hikes or finding themselves trapped in the surrounding woodlands. Yet as the disappearances increased, an unsettling pattern emerged; the most recent victims were children too young to wander the streets alone. With neither a culprit nor an explanation, panic ensued.
Rumors of a serial killer emerged, but they soon drowned under the rising tide of superstition from the elder townsfolk. With local law enforcement too under-manned, the people of Westden were left with no choice but to investigate the disappearances themselves. Sadly, their aggressive capture of potential suspects pitted them against Sheriff Dempsey, whose stance against vigilantism held firm. As tensions rose, so too did the disappearances secretly perpetrated by a rogue sect of the Blackfire cult led by Momma Bo Vera.
Convinced that the Mother of Betrayal had misread the ancient texts upon which their faith was based, the Blackfire rogues rebelled against her leadership. According to them, the apocalypse will not be a fiery storm brought on by the Death Riders of Erra, the ancient Akkadian god of plague and mayhem. Instead, the End Times will come from Osmaer, the Black King; an otherworldly terror, a bringer of an eternal global winter.
Thus, as Westden grows colder, Blackstone’s interest in its affairs grows stronger.

- Standard RPG rules apply, so no godmodding, metagaming, etc.
- This RP is meant for characters who rank as Street Level+, but an exception can be made for certain characters who rank above it. If you'd like to take part in the RP but your character's ranking is above SL+, send me a PM on this account or on Stephen Slick and Old Samson since I no longer use my other accounts.
- Westden is entirely fictional.
- The cause of the disappearances is an IC mystery, so your character should not automatically be privy to the Blackfire cult's involvement unless your character is part of the Blackfire cult. If you'd like that to be the case, PM Gambler on one of his accounts as the Blackfire cult is his concept/idea, which you can read about in his Momma Bo Vera bio.
