"On Halloween night 15 years ago, the North family suffered two great and simultaneous tragedies: the murder of one son, and the incarceration of the other. In one of the most brutal cases of modern fratricide, the then-six-year-old Roger North took a steak knife from his family kitchen. He ascended the stairs to his sleeping brother's bedroom. Tommy awoke with a blade in his throat and, by that time, it was already much too late.
Roger was taken to juvenile hall and waited to be tried as an adult. But psychiatric staff from St. Annabelle's Mental Hospital claimed to be able to help the boy. He now resides there, eating three meals a day and sleeping in the only room he's known for 15 years. Local law enforcement in Los Angeles has deemed him a minor threat to society, but still unfit to rejoin it.
There is a growing rumor that Roger isn't even human, that his soul was forfeit on that dark Halloween night. Some believe that he is a shadow of the cruel unconscious mind of humanity bleeding into reality.
Others simply call him the Boogeyman, and warn children of straying too close to that isolated hospital where he resides.
Shapes are said to haunt that road to St. Annabelle's at night. There are no street lamps, and the trees grow dense along certain sections.
Whatever the truth is, it must be sought with extreme caution - or not at all."
