@quintus_knightfall: They sat under the caressing orange hues of the setting island sun, warmed just as much by the other's presence as they were by exotic climate. She couldn't help but be skeptical toward the idea of any moment in her life surpassing this one in pure joyous ecstasy; her every thought thoroughly enthralled by the way his deep blue eyes seemed to undulate with the same mesmerizing motion as the ocean, or the way the sunlight set his dark hair on fire with a gently glowing halo of the most brilliant sunset colors she believed she had ever seen. Their conversations failed to ever require extraneous effort, their respective intellectual entities expressing themselves in ways completely comprehensible to the other, regardless the topic of discussion. They tossed their heads back in laughter over various reminiscences, which they found time to discuss in between kisses of various lengths but never dulling passion.
In a moment of silence, prevented from being a cold, empty silence by the adoration in the warm evening air radiating from the couple, Quintus shifted from his position holding her in his arms to retrieve something from underneath their shared blanket. For a moment she was annoyed by the absence of his touch, but she instantly forgot everything she had ever thought the moment her eyes rested on the item he had unveiled.
The diamond was magnificent, its every angle capturing the lights and colors around it and reflecting them with even greater breathtaking vibrancy. The unrivaled rock seemed to sparkle within her own pale blue eyes, who became their own fluid diamonds as the dazzling light within them blended with the subtlest layer of tears. Unable to even comprehend doing anything else she launched herself at him, relinquishing herself mind, body, and soul with a kiss that transcended its traditional form. There was a hush upon the island. The wild cries of exotic birds, the steady white noise of the island's city in the distance, the crash of the ocean waves hugging the white-sanded beaches in an endless string of embraces, all moved slowly out, receded, and fell away like shadowy reflections on the sea's shimmering surface - and the two, it seemed to her, were infinitely remote.
"Yes," she answered, words that fell from her pouty lips and into his ears with a wild, untamed passion that had been delicately formed by the strength of her ardor into a whisper of the most delicate fervor.
