A genius and an experiment walk into a convention.

Video Games, one of the most popular forms of entertainment in the modern day and age. People make money making them and can even make money playing them. Those who don't profit from it usually do it out of sheer boredom or fun.

Today was a gaming convention, and one of it's main features was a Virtual Reality free for all in a science fiction world, there was a surprisingly small price to enter, but the reward would be a new game console and a check of $5,000 and $2,500 for the runner up. Thus far, only 53 people had signed up. Actually, this was a bit less then they had anticipated. But it was too late for them to back out now.

Enrico stepped in, he wasn't a professional gamer, he did this for the enjoyment of it and to practice his predictive abilities, although the promise of $5,000 dollars was something he did enjoy. As he glanced at each of the other contestants he began running scenario's for their strategy types, probable weaponry choices, if they'd attempt team ups or not, etc. Some of them knew what they were doing already, they'd probably even had beta tests of the thing. Unfortunately for the other contestants, there were two people here who were way ahead of them already. Enrico wasn't the only one who had extreme advantages in these situations. A person of quite incredible super powers did as well, Alexis, aka Contingency. Of course, nobody here knew they would be fighting someone who had a form of precognition, the ability to pinpoint weaknesses, and wasn't opposed to using her various other powers in order to cheat either.

Enrico got into the gear that would immerse him into this fictional world. And soon, the games would begin.

Four types of classes, assassins, tanks, commando's, and jets. Assassins had camouflaged armor, though not full invisibility, and specialized in sniping and close range combat with high speeds. Tanks could also snipe, but specialized in mowing down opponents while taking heavy damage, they weren't especially slow but weren't fast either, they were also gifted with extreme jumping. Commando's were especially fast and had a high rate of fire combined with accuracy, and had unlimited grenades. And jets had high speed jetpacks, tons of grenades, and gained extra accuracy while at high altitudes.

Various med kits and ammo packs would spawn throughout the battle, although it took time to use either, and med kits only worked completely if you hadn't sustained a lethal wound.

Winner was decided by who was left standing. Although if you managed to kill half of the entire amount of players you could still gain an extra reward equivalent to second place.

Let the games begin.

"Hahaha what is this some sort of joke?"

Contingency stretched her limbs in powered up form as several gamers began to mock her appearance yet she simply smirked at them then she smiled in a very friendly manner "Aww thanks guys I appreciate the support, lets just try not to underestimate each other and have fun ok?"she cocked her head and closed her eyes still keeping up the appearance of a good sport even when she heard the bunch burst into mocking laughter Those jerks will get what's coming to them. It was now time to select classes and after careful contemplation Contingency had selected the commando class I'll get the most amount out of my speed and precog with this class "Alright selecting gear"Alexis selected an SMG+Revolver for her armament package follow by a Flashbang+C4 as her equipment package.

There were many people watching infact the gaming event was being live streamed by some Youtubers, next thing Shepard realized after a short count down was that she was in the game however apparently the location was reminiscent to some fictional futristic city with flying cars and incredibly tall skyscrapers, "HEEEEYYYY OVER HEREEEEE!"Shepard shouted loudly once she realized the game had begun Time to bait players into killing each other not too long after shouting a pair of jet players who seemingly teamed up in a free for all arrived and then opened fire onto her position however unfortunately for them she had dived into a ventilation shaft and escaped into the insides of the building.

Enrico didn't have to think very long, the most advantagious in this situation for him were jet and assassin due to their speed and maneuverability. Commando was pretty moderate, it was very versatile but it also had plenty of weaknesses as well. Tank was good for team games, or free for all if there were few other players and you were the only tank, but in this game it was almost just a way to feel cool when you actually killed somebody if you had no skill.

Weapons available: Sniper or long range rifles, silenced pistols, a katana a wakizashi or jian sword, and a poison gas grenade designed to cause continued damage and limit physical capabilities. Although a med kit would remove it's effects, just not fully repair health.

He went with a semi automatic sniper rifle, the jian sword, and he was pretty much stuck with the poison gas grenade. By far assassin was the most limiting on weapon choices. While the sword was complimentary, it was functionally useless without using speed burst or good stealth.

He appeared in the futuristic map, instantly he looked around walking swiftly in between two buildings and shut his eyes listening and thinking. This map would function like any other in theory, with predictable spawn locations for players and kits, as well as sniper locations and attractive places for various teams or types of players. This took him just a little over a second to process the probable situation of everything for the next few blocks all around him, had this been the real world it'd have been more intuitive, as he was already familiar with it. Still, it was close enough of a mix to make sense.

He walked backwards pinpointing where a sniper inevitably took place in the building beside him. He climbed until he found a good window to get through and pried it open at the edges with the sword before silently moving in a room away from his target. He pulled out the rifle and put away his sword, swiftly he opened the door and fired for the head before ducking behind to avoid the sniper from across the street. Every single time. They need to get more creative. He thought grinning before thinking back to the location of the other one, he moved and raised his rifle still behind the wall, closing his eyes to get a good mental perspective. Bang. Another shot from his rifle as he came out as a crawl to see if he'd hit them. Bingo, time to collect weapons and ammo. Swiftly but remaining attentive he began to obtain them, before continuing to stay hidden to scavenge off of others who were left unguarded or in positions not easy to sneak up on him, or at least not easy to take him out anyway.

Shepard saw the feed on her HUD on who just drew first blood and snickered amused at the wacky gamer names being used "This Nex Amicus is probably some bad mofo, he probably goes running around with akimbo smgs while praying in Latin"Alexis commented to herself amused not worrying about getting detected as the danger lines of forty nine other players were visible through walls allowing her to keep a safe distance away, soon she found herself at an area that spawned medpacks Time to rig some C4 after placing some explosive ordinance beneath the med packs she rushed to a corner where the sun was at her back then went prone by some large office plants.

Contingency saw an Assassin running into the med pack room while a Commando chased him inside, Shepard pulled out the detonator and pressed the switch that created a loud boom.

Guess things are picking up now. Enrico thought noticing the kills by contingency and as others began killing as he kept to the shadows counting down how many were left and their probable locations and situations, I can't kill half the people today. Too risky, only a 60% chance of success since there are other experts here who might get there first. Contingency managed a double kill, luck, skill or strategy? Could be any of them. In any case my mission remains the same. Best to avoid contact until further evidence.

He avoided stepping into the vision of where he knew another sniper probably was, and instead sidestepped and knelt down holding out his sniper rifle pointed up and waited, Five, four, three, two, one, now. He pulled the trigger just as the Jet flew overhead,

He chuckled rushing backwards and into a vent to go after the grenades and hopefully a pistol that he could get from the Jet, "Nobody in these games ever has a normal user name. We're all just referencing something."

@mr_warthen:Things were now starting to pick up in pace, the C4 kills attracted many players a little too much for comfort to sneak around which meant Contingency was quickly detected by other players and now on the run in an attempt to lose them "What the hell this is so unfair, four friggin players teaming up on one???"she muttered in annoyance before diving over a counter top and then felt barrages of bullets destroy the alcoholic beverages above her.

Dam it I only got two kills and now I'm about to lose just as it seemed Contingency was going to get eliminated by a team of four commando's she heard some loud rapid booms but they were not coming to her direction but towards the commando's shooting her, a Heavy enemy player had arrived and began firing a heavy machine gun towards their direction.

Contingency crawled around as they were distracted and began getting far behind the Heavy however when she reached a good fifty meters away she saw the kill feed

Enrico raised his eyebrows, Geesh, four kill streak. That guys on a roll! Bet he's either a heavy or a jet, they're the most likely to do that many so quickly. In the mean time.

Enrico dashed into corridors as he heard incoming footsteps and calculated their approach speed and direction. Apparently Contingecy wasn't the only one gaining attention. His scavenging wasn't really appreciated by other players who wanted those kills clearly. Fortunately for him he didn't have a heavy on his tail, just an assassin and a jet.

He waited as the footsteps drew nearer to the corner he turned and threw a poison grenade in to get at them before dashing away. The only med kits around weren't really in especially noticeable places which meant they'd probably die eventually, although they also might last just a little longer to get killed by someone else who saw the chance.

"People are going down quick, soon enough it'll be down to just a few of the better players and those occasional really lucky guys who somehow make it this far then die the moment that stroke of luck ends." He said to himself, "Keep away from Contingency and darklordofall till at least one of those two is dead. Don't want to risk getting teamed up against by people who might know what they're doing."

He stopped in his tracks as a grenade flew into his path as if in slow motion, Gosh flipping gosh! Run!

He hightailed it backwards and around the corner just before it detonated behind him. Bit to much effort into thinking about darklordofall and Contingency. Should have remembered the patterns. Somebody nearly got me there. Focus on surviving, just make it into the top two and this'll of definitely been worth it. First place would be great but don't put too much effort into that. Shame I can't use my gear, it's way better then this stuff.

@mr_warthen: Why are there so many commando's? Shepard contemplated in confusion as she saw five new danger lines moving towards her position but it seemed as if they were unaware of her position and now was the perfect time for Shepard to use one of her Flashbang grenades, with careful timing she tossed it at an angle of a near by pillar which caused it to bounce out of her sight.

After she heard the bang she knew she had little time to waste and engaged into a sprint as she switched to a revolver then slid across the floor as she neared the corner, from her prone position she took advantage of her super human reflexes but toned it down to where it was close to super human but not to the point one could axcus her effectively and fire five rounds each one being a head shot under the time span of two seconds. Five bodies dropped in near synchronization as she stood up to check her revolver which had one round left "Read em and weep boys"Shepard commented smuggly to their bodies as an announcer alerted the remaining players that she performed an overkill.

@contingency:

"Geesh, nicely done." He commented as he noticed the overkill even though nobody was close enough to hear him. Not many left. Time to start assassinating the few who are left. He thought considering where they probably were and their situations. Two blocks to the left I'd wager someone's there, on the way there'll be a sniper across the street on the roof taking advantage of the fact most jets are probably dead by now or aren't going to be able to get to him before he gets to them. He thought rushing through the buildings and then stopping before he crossed the path of the window, "Here we go." He rolled a poison gas grenade to the other side of the room, it went off as if someone was trying to hide that they were at the other doorway. Bullet whizzed into the puff of smoke and into the wall on the other side, That's a machine gun...Well ok then, probably a tank.

He grabbed the sniper rifle and rushed across the room aiming mid step as he did so and noticed the bulky figure on the building, Armored head. Go for a distraction. He fired at the tanks shoulder offsetting his aim and causing some damage. Rushing into the other room and racing across until he drew his sword and ran it into the unsuspecting jet trying to hide until the battle was over.

Down. He ducked as the tank inevitably mowed through some of the wall above him and the floor unpleasantly close. Nice try. I'd like to live for now though. He thought rolling into where the tank had previously been shooting. He slid the barrel out of a hole in the wall after making sure the tank was in visual and repeat fired at his head to take him down.

Five players left, Myself, Contingency, Darklordofall, Iamthebest, and Snipermaster. Time to find out where they all are, wouldn't want to find out they finished off the others and started heading after me without me knowing their location. Especially if they grab a med kit.

He started carefully making his way around the map looking for the most likely places they would be while attempting to stay out of sight and remain extremely quiet.

OOC: Figured we'd be getting close to the end of the actual battle pretty soon. Also, just threw those names out. Don't really care if they're used or anything.

@mr_warthen: Contingency layed flat on her belly as she readied the detonator to set off the last of her C4, there was very few players left and instead of risking pushing forward for more kills she just waited like a patient Jaguar.

She was camping the spot of a power weapon, it was a grenade launcher and anyone who wanted it would have to enter the room where she placed C4 beneath the floor which held the weapon.

@contingency:

Enrico crept around watching, listening, and thinking carefully. This was where choosing assassin class came in useful. It had the most camouflage, and due to its speed burst it could escape a tank should it have to. Unfortunately, it was also the situation where a tank might seemingly come out of nowhere and surprise you.

He stopped in his tracks, A grenade launcher, Hmm, I can't make much use of that. To bulky and dangerous for someone who's focus is on speed and agility, it would make it impossible to effectively use. He squinted at it and looked around the room, Conveniently placed...how...incredibly unlikely. Could be a trap. Perhaps I should leave and wait to see if anyone falls for it.

He exited pretty quickly heading to find a way across the street. He did so carefully as usual until he heard something, gunfire, but no death, quickly he pinpointed where he thought it came from. Someone was getting jittery and had just accidentally alerted people to their position, probably was shooting at one of the flying cars or something thinking someone was hiding in them. He moved towards the location keeping to the shadows as much as possible until he found them. Iamthebest! Yet another commando, those seemed to be quite popular in this game. Probably due to their more adaptable abilities, and that they had the most similarity to a real soldier then any of the others did. Probably survived mostly by chance. He's spinning around like a lunatic looking for people. Enrico didn't waste time ducking behind the wall and throwing a poison grenade in following it soon after sword at the ready. Person was in fact pretty skilled when Enrico closed in, he tried to put up a fight with rapid firing, but was too slow to keep up as Enrico ducked to the side due to the poison taking effect. He deflected the first slash but Enrico merely redirected it back into the mans chest defeating them

Just a few more to deal with. Getting intense. He thought grinning.

@mr_warthen: Come on get it get it go pick it up....ugh dam Alexis sighed as an Assassin walked passed her trap and just as she was about to stand back up she saw the last Heavy turn around the corner but Contingency was sure he had saw her so risking no chance she detonated the C4 immediately, there was a boom and the floor beneath the Heavy collapsed.

Yet no kill feed What happened? Alexis stood up and wielded her SMG only to stumble as the floor shook and Darklordofall super jumped through the floor she was standing by shrouded in a white aura, He used his super after seeing me of course! Alexis saw him with the grenade launcher equipped and she was hilariously outclassed in armor as well as fire power so she tossed a flash bang towards the Heavy and back flipped through the window behind her. Contingency was now in free fall and just as it seemed just was about to hit the kill barrier she landed on a flying car taking severe health damage in the process but surviving in the end.

@contingency:

Well hello! Guess I found two of them! He thought hearing the blast and seeing contingency manage to land onto a flying car as a heavy came after her, How inconvenient for you. He noticed a flash in the distance and grinned, And how convenient for me. Goodbye snipermaster.

He ducked behind a window and kept his eye on the sniper who was probably working on how he could kill the heavy and then contingency. Swiftly Enrico drew up his own sniper rifle and trained in on the shine of light off the enemy scope, he focused, and fired.

Snipermaster! was killed by Nex Amicus.

"Bingo! Just those two left!" He said aloud, If I leave Contingency to die then darklordofall will be too full on health to easily take down. One on one tanks are the hardest to be rid of at this point in the game.

He leapt across trying to swing over other flying cars to get near Contingency, "Make you a deal. We take down the tank and then we can go after each other, because the other option is I hightail it out of here and go after whoever manages to survive." He said quickly hiding behind it just in case she decided to refuse, but also sending shots after the tank who's shield should come down any time now.

@mr_warthen: Alexis saw the kill feed and readied her SMG by the time she turned around Nex Amicus was already near her Wow this guy moves fast she heard is offer and contemplated as the cars looped around the skyscraper "Sure fine with me Nex it isn't like a fifth of the players didn't do that already but I'm not engaging until I get a health pack" Alexis replief back then pulled out her revolver and killed the NPC driver, not many knew there was a hidden game mechanic that allowed the player temporary control over the flying vehicles and she commandeered it back up the skyscraper.

Darklordofall began firing at her but Contingency continued as she closed the distance between a medpack spawn then aimed her vehicle towards the Heavy when she was three quarters of the way there and in a amazing display of timing she jumped off the car into a near by window as it fell towards Darklordofall, there was another boom and the floor collapsed unfortunately his shield was still up at the time of the explosion but Contingency believed the daredevil act would buy her enough time to find a med pack she was after all close to in game death.

@contingency:

Here goes then. He thought holding onto the car and staying over it to fire before leaping onto a wall as she did the same. He was using his sniper rifle for more more and up close purposes at this point. Sniping was almost impossible with so few players when the only goal was to kill each other. He kept his distance and used his superior agility, and predictions, to evade most fire as the heavy trained on him as well.

"Hey darklord, you're shields down." He said grinning and firing several shots. Tt wasn't, at the time, but it caused him to stop for just long enough for the shots to go well and slam into his armor as the shield did in fact finally deactivate. "Ok. Shield down. Reduction of health by approximately 10%." He called out racing into a safer location to attack him the moment Contingency grabbed a health pack but not before getting grazed as the massive machine gun fired at him yet again. 4% reduction in health.

He rushed around the building and practically flew out another window firing at the heavy who started to fire back, more of Enrico's shots were hitting and only a few of the Heavy's did. Unfortunately the Heavy had significantly more armor. Enrico grabbed another flying car and thus changed his in air route very quickly hiding behind it and skipping from car to car to keep out of fire but still within range to become active again. Health: 86% Heavy Health: approximated at 80%

@mr_warthen: Darklordofall instead of risking further loss of health out in the open quickly retreated back and deep inside the building now switching to the six magazine capacity in his grenade launcher, the Heavy was going to look for another health pack and shoot anyone daring to follow him with a grenade launcher. Contingency had healed herself back to full health and carried with her a spare medpack just in case, she saw Nex far back and began waving at him then fired a few bursts at the floor of where she was standing in order to gesture Nex to group up with her.

After doing this she took cover behind a wall still not trusting Nex completely but more worried of a stray shot from the Darklord's grenade launcher, Contingency would not move an inch until he arrived at her position and once he did she would raise her hands in a surrendering manner "Hey don't shoot, I'm calling you here because Dl is digging in the building and has a power weapon with him, we're not going to kill him before we run out of ammo"Alexis pulled out her knife and gestured it "I have no more C4 or revolver rounds and only one flashbang followed by three clips of SMG ammunition left"Alexis then pulled out her med back "now you can agree to my plan and I'll give you this health pack or you can not and risk looking for another one down there against the guy with a grenade launcher"

@contingency:

He quickly got to her location by piggybacking on the various flying cars or other things to swing from and, "How about the plan first before I decide." He said feeling how much ammo he still contained, relatively good, but not sufficient for both of them. Besides, taking down the heavy first was top priority in strategy at present. At the very least he'd end up second in this path. Second was sufficient he believed.

"Wouldn't want to agree to something when I don't know the detail yet." He added awaiting her explanation while also listening for any movement that might signify them being in danger.

This has been a rather exciting game in my opinion. I'd do it more often if it didn't attract attention. Guess that's why I dumb down my skills though, that way people don't think I'm cheating and they don't look into it any.

@mr_warthen: "Okay okay fair enough so here's the deal, my SMG can't do enough damage and your sniper rifle can't be fired fast enough so the only stuff we have that can do reasonably high burst damage is yes you guessed it our melee weapons" Alexis gestured to her combat knife then Enrico's sword before gesturing to her flashbang and ranged weapons"trade your sniper rifle with me so I can rapid hip fire it at DL and aggro him, you can use your camo to sneak around while he's distracted. Find a place outside of my Flashbang radius and once I throw it you have to use your speed burst and rush a decapitating strike towards him" after stating this she shrugged "A few commando grenades and rapid fired clip from your sniper rifle should wittle his health down to the point two critical strikes to the neck will kill him and before you argue with me just remember he's going to be shooting at me first with a grenade launcher"

@contingency:

Could be a trick. He thought the moment he heard she wanted him to trade over his sniper rifle, Meh, even if it is. I was fine with second place anyway so it won't matter much.

"Good enough." He responded preparing to make the trade, and head out to get into position, "Clarification. After he's taken out, as long as we're both left, we should end this pretty reasonably. Start off again at equal health and with our normal weapons, or at least no grenade launchers, rockets, or miniguns."

@mr_warthen: A few minutes later and Alexis arrived on the agreed map location, she peeked around a corner to see the now fully healed enemy player camping in a corner next to a health kit Well aren't we lucky? Alexis let out a quiet sigh and readied a Commando grenade but would wait just a bit longer incase her mutual ally was not ready yet.

Alexis wasn't going to risk her only one life if Nex Amicus didn't have a good chance of reaching DL in time. With her other free hand she wielded his sniper rifle that had a full clip and at this distance she was sure she could land atleast half the shots although they'd only be body shots the half mag should drop the enemy player HP down by 20% followed by some grenades which could drop it in a potential other 20% however the other 60% of health remaining would be her ally's duty.

@contingency:

Enrico got into position sword prepared as he silently found the closest location where he would get the most swing behind it without risking getting seen. The first attack would be a normal one, the second would be speed burst. If he had to he believed he could get in a third before the flashbang wore off.

Tanks weren't all that easy to kill, of course now that it was two against one things were considerably more evened out. Shame one of them wasn't a jet and could use target locked rockets, that'd drain health considerably faster. But jets weren't really very adaptable so they might not have made it this far anyway.

@mr_warthen:It was time, Alexis cooked the fragmentation grenade and prepared to exit cover as she counted down three...two... Alexis got out of cover and tossed the grenade at Darklord's head where it seemingly detonates upon impact then she took advantage of the mild disorienting effect as she dropped to a knee avoiding the first shot from a grenade launcher which narrowly missed her head. Alexis used her skill rapid fire with Nex's gun in one hand while prepping another grenade with her other, the barrage hit her foe just as predicted and in under a second but DL reaimed and fired another shot, Alexis rolled away barely in time but the splash damage alone took half her health away "I can't last much longer!"Alexis shouted out as a que for Nex to prepare himself.

Alexis stood up from her evasive roll then tossed another fragmentation grenade to Darklord before tossing away Nex's sniper rifle so she could switch to her knife, a grenade launcher shot fired but fortunantly it was aimed at her center of mass so Alexis managed to dodge the projectile with a quick twist of her hips and some precognitive assistance, she saw the projectory of another shot this time aimed at her feet but she was in no position to get out in time so she tossed her combat knife moments before the projectile was fired. Boom, the projectile was prematurely detonated but took off 5% health from Darklord and another 20% from Alexis however this bought Alexis enough time to finally toss her flash bang.

There was a bright flash as she couldn't escape the radius of her own grenade so she ducked and covered her head in a defensive manner to hopefully avoid another stray impact grenade from hitting her, It's all up to Nex Amicus now I have no other weapons or gear left aside from my unlimited grenades.

@contingency:

Enrico prepared taking a good few steps back and began running just as the flash bang went off. He leaped into the air as he closed in slicing at the heavy's neck and then avoiding the inevitable fire that was sent in the general direction of the attack, he quickly swerved around and enacted speed boost zipping on and off dark lords neck twice to be sure although he got hit with a backhand as he managed the last one.

The heavy fell to the ground and Enrico crashed into a wall from the force of the hit, Well then. 85% health left. In this situation I could probably beat her right now or force a draw but I'd rather play fair. He thought standing up, "Well that's over."

@mr_warthen: Alexis stood up and shook her disoriented head while blinking a few times "Now that there's just the two if us who do you say deserves the win?"Alexis asked a reached for a new frag grenade that spawned on her person and watched Enrico from a distance of ten meters.

He only has a sword but I only have grenades, Alexis's eyes glanced to the sniper rifle ten meters away from her but it'd have to be reloaded even if either of them could reach it in time and DL's weapons were to heavy for their in game strength stats to use effectively especially under these conditions, My thirty percent HP versus his eighty percent I may have to...pull a few strings to turn this around.

Alexis squinted her eyes and prepped an evasive stance but didn't dare move forward or backward she simply taking caution in case Nex would try to rush her with the sword.

@contingency:

He considered it his right arm just as ready to send the grenade back at her should it be required, "We could get health packs, and use weapons befitting one on one combat. Assault rifles or pistols, combined with the dagger/sword and respective grenades. Alternatively we could use just sword and dagger, or we could force a draw by simultaneously blowing up."

He wasn't sure if she'd agree or just try and off him right away, a clever throw of that grenade could even out the health score or straight up end him right there. While he didn't really want that to happen he also didn't want to assume it would, and preferred to give people the benefit of the doubt even when it backfired on him.

@mr_warthen: Contingency made a dismissive head shake while laughing and juggling her grenade "Hmmmm let's not do that, we're here already and it seems a bit silly to waste any more time diddly daddling when we're gonna kill each other anyway"Alexis stopped juggling the grenade and slipped her thumb into the pin but didn't pull it out.

Instead Alexis began to pace left and right while examining her foe "You thinking what I'm thinking?"Alexis askes curiously but still kept her guard up

He cocked his head at her his sword beginning to dance around his hand an he put on foot forwards with the other farther away from her, "It's conceivable. Let's try it and find out, if I'm wrong or can't adapt I'm pretty much screwed anyway. If I'm right, well, let's just see."

@mr_warthen: Contingency smirked and opened her arms in a about to receive a hug gesture "Aww well it's a win-win scenario for me" she curled her index finger back and forth several times to Nex "alright come on, your move I'll give you one chance" Alexis grew a wide grin confident on what was about to happen.

@contingency:

Peculiar isn't she? I'm going to have to talk to Algor about this, and how she managed to last this long. He thought chuckling aloud,

"So be it." He said simply suddenly racing towards her, this however was as much real as it was fake. He very much suspected either her to throw it, or try to attack him as he closed in in one way or another. This was why he had three primary plans:

1. Should she throw the grenade he would send his sword to make contact with it before it could get anywhere near him, forcing it to detonate on her instead of him. Then proceed to grab his sword to attempt a kill.

2. Preform a slide as he got especially close aiming for the legs or torso.

3. Should he preform the second action properly he would follow it up with a stab towards her spine or heart, either of which should completely incapacitate or destroy her health.

At least those were what he hoped would happen.

@mr_warthen: This is almost too easy Alexis saw Enrico's actions in slow motion as she kicked up her mental reaction speed up several notches to ensure that from her perspective she had all the time in the world to plan her movements perfectly, the pink haired girls visual precog which allowed her to see the literal trajectories of incoming harm was icing on the cake when it came to avoiding the damage from Enrico's sword.

Alexis pulled the pin out with her thumb, If I toss the grenade now he'll just smack it away but if I don't move he will skewer me like a pig however nothing says I can't charge at him too in my own way Alexis started running towards Enrico but as he was halfway from reaching her and in what Alexis assumed a most likely a perfect prediction to be too late for him to cause any last moment changes, she countered his action by engaging in a impressive front tuck flip maneuver that launched her high above Enrico with the sword barely managing to reach the soels of her boots as her momentum from the prior sprint gave her some distance I got to toss the grenade now, if not it'll detonate on me as Alexis was still in mid air her perspective was upside down due to the tuck but she forced herself free and tossed the fragmentation grenade towards Enrico's back as he still slid.

Even if Enrico managed to turn around and swing his sword in time the grenades fuse was already at such a point that it would detonate faster than his sword can swat it away, if he someone how managed to survive the attack Alexis would collapse onto the floor and pull out another freshly spawned grenade.

@contingency:

Game over. He was already certain that any attempt at this point would either be fruitless, or would attract way too much attention to him. So instead he went for the next best bet. As he slid across the ground he was pretty sure exactly what was going to happen, using one hand he threw himself into the air and rocketed his jian sword at Congingency as fast as possible while detonating a gas grenade at her. The combination would likely hide the sword and even if it didn't he figured it was unlikely she could dodge it.

His hope? That the sword would stab her before her grenade went off. It had everything to do with timing and preforming it perfectly. The unfortunate fact was Enrico was unaware of her ability to see path lines to as much of an extent as she could, and while it wasn't out of the question in his mind it was certainly not at the forefront.

He watched his sword move into the poison gas as her grenade closed in on him like they were the slow and smooth motions of a calm wave. He grinned as it was about to detonate just hoping to see if he'd gotten her or not. Without powers or quite incredible skill, the chance she'd escape that were extremely low. On his end he knew he would die, it was just a matter of if she'd go out first or if he'd lost.

@mr_warthen: Take it or move, take it, move screw it I need the money sorry guy I'm not looking to die today Alexis saw the danger lines shift which alerted her of Enrico's next movements before he even did them thus allowing her enough time to make her following action believable to the audience watching, the sword was a lengthy object but it was slim and in a balanced game Alexis was sure that Enrico would have killed her fair and square yet all it took for Alexis to survive his attack was a mild twist to her head as she laid flat on her belly.

The sword flew by narrowly missing her face but did inflict a deep graze on her neck which depleted her health down to a mere 5% unfortunately however it appeared that Enrico did not achieve his mutual kill, to the audience in real time it would appear as if Contingency got lucky and simply guessed the right way to avoid his sword throw even with the poison gas obscuring her vision.

Enrico leaned back as the simulation ended, and they all exited their spots. Best plays of the game were being played on various screens as was a rather fantastic virtual and real life congratulations to the winners.

He stopped for a moment as Algor's words popped up on his eyes,

Enrico, that was not normal. Throughout the game Contingency was revealing highly unusual patterns for someone to survive. I can replay it for you.

"Do so." He said. At high speed the entire game played through revolving around Contingency's actions as Enrico continued to walk to receive his prize and analyze the quick flow of data, "Similarities to superhuman speed and/or precognition." He typed in to Algor who confirmed this had an 82% chance of being exactly that.

Quickly he stepped to congratulate Darklordofall for lasting so long and obtaining half the total kills, and then began to head to Contingency with an identical expression on his face in order to shake her hand, although right after saying "Good game." He would add, very quietly

"This is not blackmail, but I'm sure you cheated, and I'd like to talk to you about that after this if possible."

Skilled you may be indeed, but now that I've seen the evidence she follows the patterns of precogs or speedsters and that indicates I should learn more to determine your threat level. And if not, it should at least be an interesting talk.

@mr_warthen: There was a grand ceremony awaiting Alexis and several people opting to have a chat with her but Alexis rejected them all except the request of the last player she defeated after all his whispered statement of her cheating pulled some of her focus onto him.

After a quick trip to cash in the money she won, Alexis arrived in a private location with Enrico still with her appearance containing pink hair and purple eyes "So you suspected me of cheating, do you have any hard evidence to say it wasn't well just a little luck?" Alexis was skeptical of this man and didn't know what his intentions were so she was more than willing to leave immediatly if she felt any ill intentions or hostility.

He grinned as the lenses on his eyes scanned her biological scans and Algor ran calculations, he lifted up his watch as it revealed various holographic scenes of the game which gave extreme suggestions to superhuman capabilities once analyzed, "Ever heard of one of a quantum computer AI? I made one of the best, at least in this time period. And the more we see of you the higher the percentage is that you've got either superhuman speed, precognition of some sort, or probability manipulation."

Algor spoke from the watch displaying numerous scenarios at high speed to get the information across. "Greetings. The probability of superhuman capabilities has increased to 87%. Probability of offensive maneuvers are indeterminate. Probability offensive maneuvers would be fully successful is 24%."

"There is no such thing as luck mathematically speaking, it just doesn't happen. I don't want to blackmail, bribe, or run tests on you. What I do want to know however is just how you did that?" He asked, "Usually I don't lose in games unless I do it on purpose, or I'm facing someone with precognition or super speed. When that does happen I like to know who they are and how they legitimately beat me."

@mr_warthen: Alexis listened quietly with alert attention and after everything was said and done she began an over dramatic skeptical humming that lasted a full thirty seconds while her eyes remained squinted then she examined Enrico head to toe.

"Oh fine" Alexis finally spoke wearily "okay so here is the short story since I'll save you weeks of research, I'm an ex government agent got drafted into the Military at the age of seven after my parents died but I myself was dying due to various genetic ailments born with at birth eventually my health degraded to such a point I was on the verge of dying so I agreed to be operated on via super vague life saving surgery of course figures no one would add in the part that you'll get super powers but then again I don't think they knew"Alexis raised her index finger to gesture for Enrico to wait a second as she took in a deep breath of air to continue "I spent years doing deep cover missions involving aliens,demons,biological hazards and invasions but after six years I let my guard down once and some stupid beach witch mind controlled me into yes doing that incident in NYC about seven months ago but the injuries inflicted on me screwed me up pretty bad and I was in the hospital for a while however after I got out I got fired so now I'm here on my own"Alexis exhaled and inhaled "ripping off other players while still trying to get used to my still crippled body, as for how I did what I did well I have enhanced speed combined with precog, the precog works by letting me see trajectories of incoming harm it even works through cover and concealment so your gas grenade no offense was useless"

Alexis keeled over after rapidly speaking about her whole life story, her breath exhausted as she breathed in and out heavily.

Enrico's face became more and more entertained as the story wound on calculations running through his mind rapidly from the science behind it to the story itself and how this all occurred, he chuckled just barely containing it enough so nobody noticed it, "Sweet goodness that's fantastic! I mean I can't say I enjoy people cheating but it's too amusing!" He said carefully keeping his voice down,

Algor spawned writing on Enrico's eyes:

Did you miss the part where she said she's technically become crippled?

He paused realizing that might have been rude and his fingers twitched while he bit the inside of his lip, "Sorry if that was a bit offensive. I don't take to people very well. I specialize in, well, science. Actually..." He considered it for a bit, "You said you got crippled? Do you mind if I check out how? Like I said I'm good at science, I have a lab that's maybe decades ahead of everyone else, and I gave myself a form of telekinesis while in college. I mean totally up to you I'm just interested." He was a bit hesitant in offering because he had a way with screwing up talking to people, and due to this being a relatively spontaneous offer he was already getting stressed about it, as shown by his left hand consistently cracking its knuckles and wrist.

@mr_warthen: Alexis shrugged her shoulders while speaking with uncertainty "Honestly I don't know, I guess I wouldn't mind giving a new pseudo super scientist some help but I need assurance that you're not one of those crazy super geniuses out to enslave or destroy countless live"Alexis clasped her hands "I got to know you and I need some leverage slash insurance"her pink hair and purples eyes faded away to brown as she spoke "I'm all for help but remember that whole got mind controlled by a witch to attack a city filled with innocent people and destroyed my career then crippled me part?"Alexis asked rhetorically and pointed at her brain "the best doctors in the U.S couldn't fix a part of my brain that got lobotomized, I got lazered and while I lost some memories and got some severe nerve damage from getting my spine cut by a laser so I still rather not risk going to a super smart guys lab with out assurances"

Alexis sighed then crossed her arms "but if you gave yourself powers in college then it shows you got smarts, tell me though say I go with you" Alexis rolled her wrist "aside from a check up what do I get out of this, what's the hard incentive?"

@contingency:

He just kind of sat there for a few moments thinking about it, "Hm, on the side of my morality? I suppose you could look into my past if you wanted, you might think of me as a bit insane but I'm not the sort of person who'd want to dominate the world or obliterate it. I prefer being, like, of background importance. I'm there, and yes I'm relatively powerful and clever, but I'm not around for the glory or the power, or the fun."

He looked at his watch with Algor running simulations, "For you though. There's a plausibility I could fix it, I may not be considered a practicing doctor but that's just because I don't bother to get that license. I invented this-" He pulled back his sleeve and slit his wrist before a second sleeve formed over it and healed it up, "Uses energy to heal me. So to be clear, I know how these things work and I figure them out pretty quick. So I think at the very least I can find out how you can be helped if not be able to do it myself."

@mr_warthen: Fix, fix this? Alexis's eyes and face filled with awe but only for a second before it switched to one as if he offended her, the girl's facial expression revealing much empathetic pain at the suggestion then she replied "I don't want to believe in false hope but if there's a chance I can have these conditions corrected I want to take it"

Alexis nodded her head "all right before I agree to your proposition I still need a method of insurance incase you're lying"

He cocked his head at her again his eyes drifting in thought, he clenched one fist, "I want to be clear, revealing this threatens my safety and that of others. Then again, not revealing it does the same to be honest. Algor open up Watchman specs."

Algor picked up imagery of the Watchman technology Enrico possessed and events in which they'd been used, "An alternate persona so to speak. I'll be honest, I have no clue how it got started, just straight up don't remember it, but that's me." He pointed to the image, "Work with STRIKE. Though they don't know who I am either at present, my past is a bit of a mess. And I don't mean a torn apart family or whatnot, I mean I might be a merge between two dimensions. In either case, Enrico Warthen is also called the Watchman and up till now literally nobody was aware of that but you. At least as far as I know. That help...at all?"

@mr_warthen: Alexis blinked her eyes as she processed the information in a confused manner however after a while she nodded her head and gave a some what acceptant expression "Okay...that is good enough for me" Alexis raised her hand to his as she gestured for a handshake "I'm Alexis Sera Shepard, when do we start mister...huh?"Alexis cocked her head like a curious cat "I don't believe I got your name unless it's Enrico Warthen right or is that the other guy?"

Enrico shook it realizing he probably should have done that first, "Yeah it's Enrico Warthen. Watchman is the fake name. Umm, nice to meet you..." He said, "I guess we can start anytime, honestly I have a rather loose schedule, when I feel like it."

@mr_warthen: Alexis smirked as she squeezed his hand with a surprisingly weak grip "Alright all we need to do now is exchange our contact information then come onto an agreement on what day we should meet"Alexis reached for her phone as she preppared to share her contact information "so you think we can do that check up this Saturday or Sunday?"Alexis explained "I got a date this Friday"

Enrico lifted up the information on his watch into the same holographic form so it was easiest to read, and so he could more easily input any information, "Oh...well good luck, I suppose would be a correct response...or congratulations maybe? In any case, either Sunday or Saturday will work, Although it's preferable to just know when, so I'm not missing when it happens. "

@mr_warthen: The exchange of contact information went smoothly and she nodded her head "both is fine hah but as for time probably at night around six or seven and I'll keep you updated with phone calls, is there anything I should bring or know before I leave?"Alexis asked as she checked the time on her phone seemingly in a rush to be some where.

@contingency:

He thought about it, "Um, just not to mess with too much in there. Some of them have only one prototype and to be honest I'm not full of money so replacing things isn't really in my finances right now." He said cringing at the thought of it, "Other then that though we should be fine."

@mr_warthen: "Gotcha"Alexis gave a thumbs up then turned her back and waved goodbye with out looking "see you later Mister Enrico"

"Adios!" He responded giving a wave similair to a mock salute as she left.
