DC Entertainment Reveals Plans to Celebrate 75 Years of Robin

Can you believe little Robin is turning 75? DC Entertainment is ready to celebrate everyone's sidekick.

The big news is the announcement of the follow up to BATMAN ETERNAL. There is a little change and a reason we're talking about it here. Later this year we'll see BATMAN AND ROBIN ETERNAL.

BATMAN & ROBIN ETERNAL, the sequel to the blockbuster weekly series BATMAN ETERNAL, will begin on October 7 with weekly installments over the course of six months. Scott Snyder (BATMAN) and James Tynion IV (BATMAN ETERNAL, CONSTATINE: THE HELLBLAZER) will act as “showrunners” for the series with Tynion as lead writer. Supporting Tynion will be Snyder, Tim Seeley (GRAYSON), Genevieve Valentine (CATWOMAN), Steve Orlando (MIDNIGHTER), Jackson Lanzing & Collin Kelly (HACKTIVIST) and Ed Brisson (SHELTERED), all scripting key issues of the weekly series. Artists contributing to the series include Tony S. Daniel (DEATHSTROKE), Paul Pelletier and Scot Eaton.

It was also mentioned in BATMAN AND ROBIN ETERNAL would be 26 issues. We'll also see the return of CASSANDRA CAIN in the DCU! James Tynion IV said, "She plays a very very central role in the story."

DC also shared an infographic with the evolution of the various Robins over the years.

If that wasn't enough, in December we'll see a five week "Robin War" crossover with GOTHAM ACADEMY, ROBIN: SON OF BATMAN and WE ARE ROBIN.

"Robin War" will be feature two bookend one-shot specials written by Tom King (GRAYSON) and story by King, Lee Bermejo and Pat Gleason, with art by Khary Randolph and more.

Tight I'm reading all of these books so a crossover sounds great maybe the man-bat kid from Gotham Academy will become a robin or Maps

I really like how they are essentially giving King the reins to try out a small scale event. The guy is one of the most talented writers DC has found in years and I could definitely see him heading a major event in a few years.

I think it's interesting to note that the preview image has a red robin but there is none on the infographic and I love that Tom King is writing the bookends, mainly cause I love anything he writes

@dan12456: I totally agree, I'll read anything he puts out, which is awesome since he's getting so much work like Vision at Marvel, The Sherrif of Baghdad at Vertigo and Omega Men and Grayson, I just hope he doesn't spread himself thin

definitely gonna be reading the Eternal weekly series again. although i have my doubts about the writers this time around, aside from Seeley since he'll be reprising his role, he's proven himself.

Yeah, after the death of Terry McGinnis in the events of Batman Eternal, Tim Drake becomes Batman Beyond and now has his own series starring Timothy as Batsy

Dick Grayson, Cassandra Cain and Harper Row are going to be the three main characters in Batman and Robin Eternal.

First off, why is Harper, who isn't Robin, on the cover when Damian, the current Robin, isn't? That's weird.

All true, but it's not main universe Tim that's Robin. It's a version from five years in the future that popped up during Future's End, which is why i'm confused as to why they said Tim Drake is currently Batman (Beyond), when the main version is still with the Teen Titans as Red Robin.

Overall picture is nice though, and i'll be checking this out.

I'm not doing the weekly thing again with Batman & Robin Eternal. Batman Eternal wasn't bad, but ultimately nothing that happened in it really mattered. I'd really like to have that $156 back.

I really enjoyed the first Eternal series and I am a fan of the character being used in this upcoming series so I will definitely be giving B & R Eternal a go.

he's currently both...the Future's End Tim became Batman Beyond but the present day Tim is still Red Robin

Which is a bit of a time paradox, but whatever.

Guess the point I'm making is that Tim Drake as Batman is an actual thing that matters, unlike every other Future's End character.
