Comic Vine Weekly Podcast: Final Episode
I didn't know Tony had left CV and now the podcast is ending. Not trying to be dramatic, but this kind of feels like the death of CV.
Thanks for the history lesson, Mat. Congratulations to your wife's pregnancy and sorry to hear about your dog's passing.
Thanks for all the good times though.
I am really gonna miss this podcast. You and Tony had a brilliant chemistry together and I will have nothing to replace this awesomeness. Best wishes to Tony on his future endeavors.
Mat, thanks for this final gift for recording the final Comic Vine Weekly Podcast. My question finally got answered!
:D
Thanks for the last Podcast Matt. I'll be closing my account now that Tony's gone because I think Game Spot ruined Comicvine and I will not support them. Going over to Tony"s new site.

whats Tony's new site?

Wow. Just wow. I'm a frequent ComicVine reader but I barely post. In college studying electrical engineering so I don't have the time to read many comics right now. Just wanted to thank Tony for the years of great podcasts, articles, reviews, and tweets. Live long and prosper G-Man.
Has anyone told this guy he sounds a little like Seth Rogen?
Anyway, sounds like the fat lady's getting ready to expel some air from her lungs. It would have been great to catch some of those fights he mentioned in the early days. I wonder if it's still around to listen to?
It ain't over til it's over, right? Enjoy it while you can, folks.

What a shame. I loved this site. Now it seems like it will go the way of Anime Vice. I can't help but feel that so much potential has been squandered in this case.
Well I guess it was only a matter of time until the definitive features of this site went away after Tony's departure. I haven't listened to every podcast but I've listened here and there over the years and this was solid as far as podcasts go. I wish Tony well on his new website endeavour. Thanks for doing the last podcast Mat, but it kinda sounds like this is the beginning of the end.
Thanks for Everything.
So this is How it ends.
Is that means comic vine will die soon?if yes then all cv friends can meet in twitter @devilmaycry2341
@kingofwhales: What I don't get is, why would he sell this to gamespot only to make a new one?

I feel you, been using this site for years for my comic interests, and Hummingbird for anime interest, now HB has turned into Kitsu, and this site has already lost it's soul, and it might just completely die.
Thanks for the show guys.
I'll admit, I never quite understood Tony. Not a criticism, just an observation. I like him alot, but the guy was an enigma. He projected this puritanical kind of image, but he admitted to cursing like a sailor. And he got SO uncomfortable with sex and sexual content. Never wanting to say a bad thing about ANYthing for fear of sounding negative.
Then there's the lack of transparency. I think maybe there's just a high amount of professionalism involved, but everything is so secretive. When Sara left, that was the weirdest thing I ever heard. Something strange went down there, I maintain to this day. She then proceeded to vanish off the face of the Earth. Now Tony's gone and this is the first I've heard of it.
I know this sounds like complaining, but it isn't! Tony and the guys provided hours of great stuff and I'll miss them all. I'll even miss trying to figure him out lol.
@venom_mouse: You just totally explained why I couldn't get along with him after a while. :-(
@Iceslick: You are.....?
@venom_mouse: I will just say I knew the comicvine cast personally behind the closed doors for a little while.
@Iceslick: At least add some specificity to your vagueness. This type of stuff is part of the problem.

I met you once, maybe twice, at conventions, for a total of maybe 30 minutes. I'm 99% sure Tony would say the same thing since we were attached at the hip.
So what you're saying is incredibly misleading.
Once again, the site isn't going anywhere. There's new content (features) going up over the weekend. However, I'm on a much needed vacation next week, so... yeah. Stuff will get back on track after that.
You can still hear my dumb voice, in podcast form, here... on a show about music videos.
I will absolutely miss the show. People have lives to live. If they don't feel like sharing everything about their existence with the internet, that's fine by me. I don't think it's fair to judge Gman or inferiorego for not sharing every little detail after they've giving us all hours and hours of free entertainment. I don't know either of these people personally, but it seemed like this announcement and episode was difficult to make. That sucks. On top of that, he had to put his dog down. That sucks even more. Sorry for the hard times inferiorego. For what it's worth, you get a big thank you from me and a congratulations to you and your wife on the spawning of a human. Good for you guys!!!
P.S. Worst part? Who is going to ask all those deep meaningful questions about how super heroes go to the bathroom in their costumes now? We may never find out now!
Man, this is sad. It's not like this is the end of CV, but it still feels like a big step down from how this site used to be. I'll miss the features and editorials and podcasts, but I won't stop using the forums.

lol, I think we are going to get along pretty well.
What a bittersweet podcast. It was cool to hear some of the history of the site but very sad when you realize it's the last one ever. In my head the title image was turning from colour to black and white as the outro music played.
I'm really happy to hear Mat's great baby news, but very sad to hear about his dog. Thanks a million @inferiorego for doing this final podcast and explaining everything. Hopefully by now you've bought a pack of Ricola cough drops and felt their sweet Swiss relief. And thanks a billion to you and @gmanfromheck for everything you've done for the site and the show.
I wish I could say I've been listening from the beginning but since 2014 I've been enjoying this site and this podcast consistently. I know that's only a fraction of how long it's been around but it still feels like a long time.
I highly recommend Podcast Killed the Video Star. I'm loving it. If anyone enjoyed the non-comic book and non-tv/movie related banter on the CV Podcast you'll love PKtVS. It's banter of the highest quality. Hopefully Tony starts a new podcast at some point, I'd love to hear it.
I'm also really happy to see Mat's success at Gamespot. Personally I'm really loving what Gamespot is changing into. I know the hardcore GS users don't seem super happy to have non-video game content on their site but if you asked me what subjects I'd like to see on a website I would say Wrestling, Video Games, Comics, Movies and TV (in that order). So they have me covered for everything I care about.
That being said, it's impossible not to notice the slow down of editorial pieces and reviews on CV which is a bit of a bummer. It seems like Game Spot's entertainment focus is movies and tv first, wrestling second and comics third. I'm sure they have their reasons for this (and I'm betting it's simply based on views) but they'd definitely need to hire more writers to work on comic related content and maybe they just don't have the resources. It's a downer for the hardcore comic fans on CV but my understanding is that CV started as a Comic Book Wiki and a community forum which doesn't seem to have changed one bit. In that regard it can continue on forever as long as the users enjoy chatting with each other and updating character entries.

I don't believe you. The Best Stuff in Comics weekly feature vanished, and the news and previews coverage has become very sporadic. This site has gone to the dogs since being merged into gamespot.com

Is it mean of me to say I laughed? A lot? That was some of the funniest, most awkward, buncheduppanties hilariousness I've come across. I think Sara and I would have got along. Why isn't she with the site any more? Is that Cory guy still around? Sorry for the questions, just curious.
I agree with the Tony guy about Batman, ultimately, but still, talk about being a little too pressed up against the window, haha!

Yeah Sara was great. The interaction between her, Tony, Cory, and frequent guest/writer James Robinson was great. Tony and his chronic fear of sex vs. James' constant sexual innuendo was great. Tony would go after Cory and then James would say something about his penis or about gay sex and Tony would clam up like someone showed him a picture of a naked old lady.
