I'm just curious,I know very little. What's his orign? Does he have a real name?
What do we really know about the Phantom Stranger?
We don't know much about him but that's sort of his whole gimmick, if we knew more about him he wouldn't really be the Phantom Stranger
That's the appeal of not knowing much about the Phantom Stranger. Been that way for 60 years and he's still going strong.

yeah then he would be the Phantom Acquaintance, and that doesn't soud as cool
Well, even if we learned more about him, he could always become... stranger! Nyuk nyuk nyuk...
Sometimes it is a better decision to just go to bed...
Anyways, I got really into Phantom Stranger a few years back... and even though he has made a host of appearances, even his established history is managed in a very vague and mysterious manner... he really does maintain that vibe of the unknown. While it'd be fun to see a bit of development on the mystery of his identity/powers/purpose/etc. less will always be more when it comes to the character.
@TheOptimist: I'd hate if the pulled a Wolverine on him, cause let's face it sometimes the mystery is way better than the explanation
Some things about him, while not revealing a lot;
He is the Multiverses's Agent of Neutral Observation. He never truly acts on something, unless its fate has already been carried out. His existence is a Curse, most likely due to his refusal to choose a side in a Religious/Cosmic/etc battle. He is around Spectre level in power, but his main ability is that he knows EVERYTHING that has or ever will happen.
He killed Jack the Ripper, and it was awesome.

it's been confirmed he is Judas Iscariot
When did this happen? because I can't tell if your joking...
Makes sense, Geoff has no original ideas.So new 52 just ruined The Phantom Stranger for us by ripping off the twist from Dracula 2000.
Now we need only wait for New Gods to sparkle.
I have always believed that the Phantom Stranger was a manifestation of the collective unconscious of all living things. This is where his immense knowledge comes from. Because he is a part of everyone he is made up of mostly people unknown to whomever he is helping and thus remains a stranger. He only provides the help that is needed to solve a problem and only in extremely dangerous conditions does he take physical action. But that's just my thoughts.
