@general_disarray: No Alfred Hitchkock movies ? No Bourne movies ? No Da Vinci Code ? No Young Sherlock Holmes ? I don't have time right now, but your list is poor.

@jb681131: lol that's harsh. I know Hitchcock is highly rated but I haven't seen his films, only seen Bourne trilogy once need to rewatch, haven't seen the others.

@mazahs117: Se7en is a good shout, I need to watch it again, been a while. What makes you say No Country is a mystery film?

@general_disarray: perhaps it's the whole "cat-and-mouse" aspect of it with the characters. If anything I guess it's more of a suspense/thriller

You didn't include the 2 movies with the biggest twists ever:

  • Usual Suspect - maybe my all time favorite movie
  • The Sixth Sens

and what about:

  • The Italian Job
  • Face\Off
  • One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - not really a mistery mvoie
  • Rope (Hitchkock)
  • Rear Window
  • The Departed
  • Looper
  • Night Call - not really a mystery movie
  • Kingsman
  • Sully
  • Return of the Jedi
  • Who Frames Roger Rabbit - it's on your list, but it's goooood
  • Catch me if you can
  • Shutter Island
  • Zodiac
  • Mistic Rivier
  • Minority Report
  • Twelve Monkeys - probably my second favorit movie ever

Films where mystery or suspense are an overarching theme. Usually with a big reveal / twist involved.

  1. Sin City
  2. Watchmen
  3. V for Vendetta
  4. Sherlock Holmes A Game of Shadows
  5. Sherlock Holmes
  6. Memento
  7. Wu Xia
  8. Prometheus
  9. Hateful Eight
  10. Who Framed Roger Rabbit

This was another very hard list to compile since Mystery is among my most favorite genres. There were so many I left off being limited to just 10 films, but I am satisfied with what follows;

As always, in no particular order and links lead to trailers.

Good Choises, but some James Bond movies are pretty bad.

Easily the best mystery story ever written, admittedly this is a 3 part episode series but frankly you have to watch it in one sitting.
