Would you kill baby Hitler?

You were somehow teleported by a wizard to Braunua am In, Austria, in 1889, inside a random construction. You started exploring the construction to see if there is any clue for your mission there and suddenly you heard a sound of an infant. You followed that voice and you saw

Adolphus Hitler as a baby, which you very well recognized him.

His parents somehow left him on a sofa and he is alone. You waited there for another hour and no one has returned to their home nor has the wizard teleported you back and you are left there with innocent Hitler. Hitler’s faith depends on your choice. What are you gonna do?

I do nothing. He has not committed any crimes as a baby.

No; if his crimes weren't connected to Biblical prophecy, I would be more likely to have him kidnapped and raised in an environment completely foreign to his ideology; probably have him raised by an African tribe or a village in South America; I would of course factor in his eternal salvation and make sure that there was a Christian and Biblical mix in the environment where I placed him; however, I think Biblical prophecy would still be safe, as Hitler only tapped into a festering overall environment in Germany and parts of Europe as a whole.

No and I wouldn't go back and kill adult Hitler either. Can't risk messing with history especially something so great. A little tip of the scales could make it so I was never born which is a big no no imo. If anything I'd kill myself so I dont accidentally change history. But then again maybe its a closed loop and i already lived out my end years in 1889 and onward. In this case nothing i do will change anything, because i already attempted it in our current history.

There is only pne solution: i must prevent my own birth to break the loop and end my suffering.

Some European countries would eventually become hyper-nationalist regardless of Hitler. In alternate history, it is possible those countries even win the war and not attack Russia until later.

Also for all the butterfly effect people, you can't really help changing the future in these situations. Anything you do could cause everything to change, literally anything.

No, killing baby Hitler could potentially erase my own existence, furthermore the timeline doesn't like being messed with, and may self-correct meaning my infanticide solved nothing.

Now, to be clear, if a similar situation arose where killing a baby would save millions that had nothing to do with time travel, I'm killing the baby.

In this situation, no. It's a baby. I don't think I'd be any good at raising him, but it'd be damn hard to do a worse job than what happened. So fill his mind with more progressive, humanist beliefs and see what that charisma does to history.

If I knew I was about to get teleported back to my time, though, and I have only a few seconds left, sure, I'd kill him. I don't think it'd prevent Nazism, but perhaps with a less charismatic leader it might be less successful, and I don't have to live with the consequences of killing a baby.

Depends on the mechanics of the time travel. If I killed Hitler I would certainly not be alive to go back and kill him, sort of an indirect grandfather paradox so it depends on how that would be resolved in this hypothetical scenario.

the truth is though most people would try something else like in the hospital switch babies. However due to time travel paradoxes the baby you switch with Hitler would actually be the real Hitler we know. Honestly it depends on how the time travel works on if I kill him or not. If I'm creating an alternate timeline I don't come from then sure. If I can guarantee my existence after then maybe. If not I would probably just leave it be.

More than likely, if you kill Hitler, someone else like Hitler would have came up in Germany during that time. The political environment was there and the ideology didn’t originate from him.

The outcome could be a lot worse. Hitler wasn’t the most competant leader. He rarely listened to his generals. Did things that ultimately hurt his military. With another leader, it could have been much harder for the allies to be victorious.

A better idea would be to go back in time and convince Kaiser Wilhelm not to go through Belgium when they invaded France. If the Central Powers had won WW1, then, most likely, there wouldn’t have been a Nazi Germany.

Arguably the world might be a better place if Germany had won WW1. Communism may have never spread outside of Russia. The Middle East would most likely be a lot more stable. WW2 would have probably happened in the Pacific at least. After that, Korea, Vietnam, Bay of Pigs, Iraq and Afghanistan would probably be butterflied away.

Maybe if I had some proof that killing Baby Hitler would make the future turn out significantly better, then I’d do it. As of now, there’s no way to tell what long term effect, positive or negative, killing him would have.
