Yes. Putting John Goodman on your body is absolutely a good idea. You will never regret doing that.

Color tattoos are going to cost you a fortune and you would need to rather gifted artist to be able to draw that perfect on black and white.

Colour tattoos cost more? Both my sleeves are full colour, but then again since all mine are colour I can't compare with back and grey.

Depending on the size it could really make or break this as a tattoo. With time the lines will thicken and if it's quite small they may blur, you may lose things like the chain on his neck as details become harder to implement with smaller size. Not to mention with portraits it's usually a likeness not an exact replica. A competent artist helps a lot.

Depending on how you feel about it, and why you want it can be the only thing that determines if it's a good idea or not.

It'd have to be on my stomach or back. I have to be able to cover them "just in case" & my chest & upper arms are more or less full.

To get any sense of detail it would have to be huge and thus expensive. Think thousands of dollars. Not worth it imho.
