Why is United States the most prominent proponent of Climate Change Denial?

I think it is safe for me to conclude that it goes beyond any reasonable doubt that climate change is a real phenomenon (As scientific consensus had indicated).

I would just like to ask why among all countries, the United States is the only country which is the most prominent proponent in denying climate change?

Unlike the creation-evolution "controversy", there don't seem to be any religious reasoning behind this denial.

Anyone able to explain the background behind this? I am curious. Thanks.

@germanx: Mainly because the USA is asked to shell out so much money for fixing the climate while so many other countries are doing literally nothing that some people start to think it is a scam

Pretty interesting article I read earlier specifically dealing with sea levels.

Because so many of our politicians get their campaign funding from oil companies.

Largely and/or likely because the government in the United States allows for greater freedom of expression and more diversity of opinion. People can freely find counter information, debate, and be heard and taken seriously, when someone thinks it's warranted.

Because we're stubborn or the Democratic Party have horrible Environmental plans. It's better to just give up at this point, if the USA is this bad at admitting that climate change is indeed real then there's no hope. Sorry future.

Hey at least they have the balls to admit that they wont shell out money for it unlike the cucks here that pretend they are doing stuff to help the environment (in Canada they aren't) so they can tax you out the ass while using the money to fund the importation of muslims to fill their diversity quotas

1) Trump may or may not be an idiot

2) The proposed plans are not that good and might add cost to the budget

3) Some other countries are sure as hell not going to stick with the plan.

Because at some point in America, stuff like science or a scientific consensus on something became an opinion rather than a fact, it became the norm for large groups of people to simply pick the version of science they preferred. And what's worse for it was that Climate Change became politicised, one side believed it, the other did not, and as such it became easy to dismiss as simply another political talking point. Which brings us up to where we are today, with an idiot in the White House who doesn't know the difference between weather and climate.

Meanwhile the Atlantic coastline and the Gulf of Mexico are awaiting the next '100 year storm' and California is just emerging from the worst wildfire ever.

Because 'Climate Change' has become a political buzzword rather than a valid scientific talking point, where extreme views have planted themselves to the point of obsurdity.

While there is genuine, deserved concern about humanity treating the planet like a cheap prostitute, there's the eye rolling alternative of the 'climate change' banner being waved as the cause of terrorism and blaming humans for the polar ice caps receding from Minnesota and making the earth wobble more.

PS. California wildfires are a natural occurrence. The plantlife has developed the means to not only handle it, but require regular burning. Some plant life even secrete oils to intensify these fires.

California wildfires aren't a problem because of climate, but because humans are an invasive species that builds immovable homes in the burn areas, and try to stop them, resulting in build ups of flammable materials, and turn what would normally be a series of small fires into a single giant conflagration.

Okay, so based on my understanding its both a cost issue and political issue which one side had been influenced by companies which had a stake in environmental related issues.

Politicians don't admit it's real because it would touch their money, and other Republican citizens believe it because they believe whatever their politicians say.

Because the US has a huge inequality in education leading to one of the most ignorant people in the developed world, the great majority of US politicians is also paid by oil companies, who don't want their bottomline threatened just because of all the catastrophys.
