Why do veteran posters on this forum like to assume that new users are alts of existing users?

They are always cynical of any new poster and accuse them of being an "alt" or "troll account". As if its a comicvine's version of hazing.

Sometimes it's rather obvious.

This is done when the user posts in a manner that is far too similar to a previous user the accuser is familiar with. I dunno how you can conflate that with hazing.

Because there are a lot of them, people who make new accounts despite being banned for breaking the rules. Can’t get rid of them and thier is no point in entertaining any of them in conversation because they will troll you with no regard for the safety of thier account.

Because it's common for users to have an alternate account to use for dubious purposes, and sometimes it's easy to tell who's who.
