Both are good choices in a best-case scenario, if Marvel and DC aren't just buying for the sake of monopolizing the industry and for mainly the sake of putting out quality content.
Dc has more acclaimed series than marvel ever had marvel does have some hits but nowhere near the same level of dc
That being said in more recent times indie comics are pound for pound some of the best books the industry had to offer period, most people just never heard of most of them
