Which characters from christian mythology you are glad were invented because they are used in other fiction stories?

Like nowadays, some apocalyptical stories are quite enjoyable, and angels vs demons stories

This pulls off its double duty excellently.

Anyway, Lucifer and by extension Michael.

All biblical stories come from older mythologies.

@zetsu-san: Rather, the biblical events occurred first, and then were copied by others. As in the Epic of Gilgamesh and Noah's Flood. The actual flood occurred earlier than the epic was written.

@johnnyz256: I’m sorry, what? Are you saying texts that predate the bible somehow “copied” the bible, because they wrote about supposedly real events?

God. Not I think any adaption is better than the one from the Bible but when a character obtain "Godhood", the Abrahamic God is basically the one most writers use as a reference/comparison. The philosophical debates from these stories are interesting.

This is a good, albeit oddly specific question. And I do think there are a lot of characters from Christian mythology that have been really well implemented in other fiction. Just look at the characters in Good Omens, many of them are angels and demons lifted from Christian mythology, and it makes for a bloody good laugh.

Behemoth, Leviathan, and Ziz.

Though I'm sure there are several mythologies that have their own versions of the Kings of the Land, Sea, and Sky.

@kinglouie

I hope you don't take offense to the idea that many people here may be of other religious beliefs?

From all points of view Abrahmic religions are as much a mythology as Hellenistic, Norse, Egyptian, or Roman myth... Hell Star Wars and the very comic books this website is made for could be considered mythologies.

Just to drive my point across lets google the definition of mythology

my·thol·o·gy/məˈTHäləjē/ noun

"a collection of myths, especially one belonging to a particular religious or cultural tradition.

"a book discussing Jewish and Christian mythologies""
