I forgot stamina, can't be getting tanked too early in a fight.

There isn't really one, if their were, that'd make things a whole lot easier and simpler for people who plan on being in fights. For each person, they are going to have natural strengths and weaknesses, and with training, you can have a general goal on improving strengths and eliminating weaknesses, and then you can get into more specifics. So it really depends.

The above qualities, well it also depends, whether we are speaking of a person possessing them at average for a fighter, but they will excel at one, or whether its a person who has them but not in an advanced way, very minimally and they have one thats higher/decent, since the higher their general competency, the less one matter, depending... basically it depends.

The responses in this thread are great. Some well written, thought provoking responses.

But the answer to the question is muscle mass. That is the MOST important quality, and all these other qualities are just ways of catching up.

As people have already said it's lots of things, but if it had to only be one... realistically speed and reflexes don't amount to jack if you're fighting someone who's twice your size and weight imho (assuming no weapons or anything like that).

Speed and reflexes especially matter against bigger and stronger people bro, unless they go in for a grab/tackle or something to overpower you.

@batmanplusjay: Idk man weight classes exist in competative fighting sports for a reason. Mayweather is a beast boxer but he still never attempted to take on anyone higher than welterweight. Things like a longer reach and having more weight behind your punches and being harder to stagger just add up to a massive advantage very quickly.

Still yeah if the two fighters are fairly evenly matched I'd agree the slightly faster one would take the slightly bigger one, but the bigger the size difference the less that's true, imho at least.

Fights, unless measured and contained by a cage and rules, can go either way. Though if I had to leave it up to one thing, it'd probably be the willingness to cross a line the other person won't.

You're right. It's just that speed and reflexes do matter when fighting way bigger and stronger opponents. There's different weight classes because of course size matters, but in a situation where you're fighting someone much bigger and stronger than you, you will need speed and reflexes so you won't get laid tf out. Imagine fighting someone bigger and stronger than you but you're just as slow as he is and have garbage reaction time?

Remaining clear headed with the proper background.

Stay focused and trust your training and instincts. Muscle memory will handle the rest.

In a street fight.

All the size and speed in the world won’t do you any good if you are just an arm flailing mess who is just loses control.

In a cage or ring, most important would be making them fight your fight not being forced into theirs.

Wouldn't Dexterity and/or Reflexes cover timing or I'm I using the term Dexterity wrong?

@insomnimaniac: Sorta, but no. Reflexes are probably close, but this involves offense as well as defense.

It's basically knowing when to punch.

So Dexterity would just be more like hand eye coordination?

What? Have you ever been in a fight before? Your state of mind is literally half the battle. If you can't think straight, if you're too afraid to move, if you already doubt yourself and think you'll lose, it literally direcrly hinders your physical performance because you won't fight at 100%.

You can't expect to win a fight if you dont have the confidence to believe you can. Sure you can get lucky, there's exceptions to every rule.

Yes, and confidence is not the most important factor. Having a capable body is. I don't think you understand what you are saying. How does mindset TRUMP the very tool you'll need to fight? That's like saying accuracy is more important than AMMUNITION in a gun fight. Like confidence, accuracy is supplementary. It enhances the effectiveness of what is ALREADY there. Its essential, but it is not more important than the tool.

Otherwise your cocky ass is getting the ass whooping of your life.

How would confidence matter at all without the necessary tools to fight? If you're built like a toothpick and move like child, how on earth are you winning a fight with or without confidence?

It's possible with that feather light frame if she knew how to negate a strike but yeah I see little offensive capabilities in this particular skeleton girl.

This is a pretty extreme case & just not normal but maybe you got me on this one.

The rest you can work on but without these you're doomed.
