What would John Wayne think of today's society?
He would be confused and perplexed by modern technology and begin poking it while making grunting sounds and this face >> O.o
@bella_blackstar: Exactly.
Um... why him? did you do some sort of random celebrity generator type thing and pick him?
is there anything from today's society that would be of particular interest to him?
We need more John Waynes in modern times.
Who cares ?
Who cares ?
Obviously the OP or he wouldn't have asked.

"A rhetorical question is a figure of speech in the form of a question that is asked to make a point rather than to elicit an answer."

Obviously, but what you're not getting is I was making my own point by answering.

Good news then!
The news that researchers have used cloning to make human embryos for the purpose of producing stem cells may have some people wondering if it would ever be possible to clone a person. Although it would be unethical, experts say it is likely biologically possible to clone a human being.
@dernman:plz stup
@black_wreath: We were waiting for you.
@sprior93: I would but I'm afraid I might injure someone. >.>
@black_wreath: oh lordy...
@black_wreath: oh lordy...
Don't worry. The eyes strain in trying to see it is easily avoided with a magnifying glass.

You joke now but that magnifying glass might just save your eye. <.<

That's what I said. A magnifying glass will save you your eyes from the dangers of eye strain.
Easy. Look at Clint Eastwood. An that'll be pretty much as close if not the general idea of what John Wayne (if he were alive today) would think of things.
@black_wreath: I can only imagine the first clone would have to be Jon Wayne. Until we go to far and clone an army of Jon Waynes who take over the universe.
Who cares ?
Considering he was a racist, he'd probably be disgusted at all the equality and such.
I don't think he was a racist; misguided, most certainly. His views on Native Americans was definitely obscure, but even then (from what i have seen) he didn't hold any ill will or animosity to any group of people.
This quote is in response to Playboy’s question of whether Wayne felt any empathy for Native American for subordinate roles in Westerns:
“I don’t feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them, if that’s what you’re asking. Our so-called stealing of this country from them was just a matter of survival. There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves.”
When asked about his own hiring practices, Wayne said that while he did not discriminate against black actors or crew members, he didn’t seek them out either:
“I’ve directed two pictures, and I gave the blacks their proper position. I had a black slave in The Alamo, and I had a correct number of blacks in The Green Berets. If it’s supposed to be a black character, naturally I use a black actor. But I don’t go so far as hunting for positions for them. I think the Hollywood studios are carrying their tokenism a little too far. …”
Now, this stuff is definitely cringe worthy, but hate speech? meh, i don't really see any hate in it. You wouldn't say a holocaust denier is anti-simetic, right? Their just ill informed/misguided, much like his views. but ignorance=/=racism
either way he prolly wouldn't like how things have turned out
"Oh Dear God, Italians are still making a comics of a character modelled on me? As their first seller? In the 2017???" [ see Tex Willer ]
And then, hopefully, he will shot anyone at the Bonelli Publisher... [oh, sorry, that only the complain of an Italian reader that dosen't understand...]
I mean I could ask the same question about a person from the opposite end of the political views spectrum, let's say John Lennon. That doesn't put him on any higher of a moral high ground.
True Americans are trump supporters which he would be. (My opinion)
I find you incredibly wrong with this statement about the "True Americans" part, but you are free to think that. However I can picture John Wayne as a Trump supporter as well.
@kotetsu454: Trump supporters are always "right". Aka republicans.
True Americans are trump supporters which he would be. (My opinion)
Not to derail the thread, but how are some Americans "truer" than others?
True Russians are Trump supporters which he would be. (My opinion)
Fixed that.
@sineyaprime: For me to answer would derail the thread.
