What Religion do you believe in?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
@spareheadone: And what exactly is that?
I am a Christian, orthodox one. I was christened as a child and as much as I have grown and read much on religion and I have made myself an opinion on religion in general I would still say that I am Christian. Even though, I might be more of a believer that religion is just a means for dispute and war.
@babyholdmyhand: Even though I'm not religious, I say amen to that, brother. I believe in a creational source but many religious scriptures are man-made, I don't trust the words of primitive men nor have I any interests in reading the Bible, the Quran or the Torah.
I have my own theories. To the eyes of people from millenniums ago, is advanced technology any different to magic and miracles? I'm an alien freak so I like to theorise alien involvement in the creation of many religions.
@spareheadone: I'm of the belief any divinity, should it exist, would have to be completely independent from nature. That might be the former Catholic in me speaking, but a divinity bound to the laws of nature (or even embodied in the laws of nature) wouldn't seem divine to me.
Well I qualify my pantheism which means all is God, with the fact that I am also a panentheist which means that all is in God.
So while our universe is God experiencing the laws of nature, God is also much more and far above nature.
@babyholdmyhand: And who is that God?
@babyholdmyhand: And who is that God?
I, you, everyone, and none of us. God’s is everything, and nothing, otherwise, God isn't Omni. In primitive perspective someone would refer to him/her as God. Have you heard the famous quote from Lex Luthor from BVS? What he is trying to say is that God is both Good and Evil. Satan, and Lucifer don't exist. If they do, they were still be God and not him at the same time. If you balance God to one side of the scale then he truly isn't an omnipotent being because God is everyone and everything and the same time he is none existence, thus, free will.
So is god personable and distinct from his creation?
@babyholdmyhand: Sorry, you've lost me.
@ghostodoofus2: Basically just "God is everything and there is nothing outside God".
You and I are manifestations of God. The dove that appeared at Jesus Baptism was a manifestation of God. However God does have an ultimate manifestation or two.
So in the same way that you are other than me, we are other than the ultimate manifestation of God.
I'm Apatheistic, meaning, I don't care if there is or isn't a God/Gods, if there is or isn't proof that they exist or don't exist, and therefore, religion has no weight on my life in any way, shape, or form.

This for me as well. I just don't care.
@spareheadone: Yes. I pray a Rosary everyday, and on Sundays and Wednesdays, I reflect on the Glorious Mysteries which includes the Assumption of Mary.
Also, Catholics celebrate the Assumption of Mary (August 15th) by going to Mass. It's considered a Holy Day of Obligation which means it's a day we must go to Mass besides the usual weekly Sunday Mass.
I find it very interesting that she was asleep when she went up. This parallels with my belief in the idea that Mother Nature is sleeping.
@babyholdmyhand: I do believe that God embodies all things but he does have his own idea.
Many think Mary died, was resurrected, and then taken up into heaven by God.
I think she chose to die in order to conform herself to her son Jesus who chose to die for our salvation.
I've been listening to the Dr. Taylor Marshall podcast lately, and I started listening to an episode regarding the Assumption. I only heard some of it, but you might find it interesting:

Hopefully, it's a good one. It's become one of my favorite Youtube channels.
I'm currently not a religious person, I'm a person who doesn't discard the existence of God, neither that he exists, so, I'm agnostic.
However, I'm will possibly convert into a Heathen or give it a try.
@spareheadone: You're very welcome. I really appreciate it that you checked it out. Thanks!
@michaelbn: That depends. If you think that particular god doesn't intervene directly in this universe (as in, they created it and that was that), deist. Otherwise, just plain ol' theism.
@jonjizz: Wubba lubba dub dub.
Agnostic is not a position on belief, but of knowledge and so shouldn't be an option.
Also, I'm amazed to see atheist/agnostic collectively is still a minority, that's a little sad

that's nothing to do with your beliefs though. Whether or not you care about that belief has no impact on the belief itself
@aka_aka_aka_ak: The title of this thread is, "What religion do you believe in?" My response notes my lack of belief and where I stand on religion. So, it has everything to do with my belief, because I don't have any. In order to have belief, however, you need to care about what you want to believe in. Otherwise, it's not a belief.
Accidentally clicked Judaism, but I am a Christian. I came to Christ through studying the Bible for its alleged inconsistencies, attempting to document them for myself. Which failed, as well as my attempt to refute the science behind creationism. Overwhelming evidence studied over many years helped warm me up to the Bible, but ultimately it was God's conviction that turned my heart to Him. Praise the Lord for the mercy and love I will never deserve.

What nonsense. I believe that the grass on the lawn of my left neighbour is longer than the grass on the lawn of my right neighbour, but I absolutely don't care about that belief in any way whatsoever. In order to believe something you simply need to find the claim convincing. That's it. Nowhere does that necessitate caring about it.
@lord_tenebrous "science behind creationism" obvious troll attempt.
God exists. The creator. He/She isn’t what humans invented here on Earth to keep the population in check with “Hell exists so don’t go doing bad things”. We created that concept to keep everyone from doing what they want. “Eternal suffering” that would spook anyone, right?
