What Religion do you believe in?

I still don't see Scientology as an actual religion, more of a scam to bilk money out of celebrities and other self centered rich people.
@joshmightbe: "insert athiest zing saying that's all religion"
Hitchensism -The cult of the supreme being Christopher... Sticking it to atheists by deifying one of their most elloquatious figures. Nyahahahahahaha!
@saint_rog_el: I'm not an atheist, I just don't believe a weird cult started by a drugged up, mediocre Sci-Fi writer should be considered an actual religion.
@joshmightbe: not saying you are but that the joke is bound to happen.
@saint_rog_el: I'm surprised it hasn't already.
@wolverine08: especially on youtube.
@saint_rog_el: their too cheap. *joke* haha.
I am the Hindu that perpetrates blasphemy by consuming unholy amounts of alcohol and beef. :/
My Grandma's gonna kill me.
@saint_rog_el: their too cheap. *joke* haha.
I am a scientologist, i am offended that people are saying it isn't a religion!!
Not really, but it is mean nonetheless.

This statement is contradictory... Every religion is a weird cult.

Islam was written by a analphabet. The bible was wrote by people 300 years after the death of Jesus. The catholic church has earned a lot of money on indulgence which could also be describe as a scam.
I'm a fully ordained Dudist priest. "F*** it" is our mantra, White Russians our sacrament.
I kinda dig that, where do I sign up?
Here.
@tupiaz: Those religions were founded on principals where as Scientology was founded by a hypocritical drug addict who was trying to sell books. Regardless of where Islam and Christianity ended up at least they were started on honest ground.
Man, I'm not messing with anyone who uses Deathstroke as his avatar. I am curious, though, if there are different ethos, philosophies, whatevs within Scientology, or if its adherents share the same beliefs across the board. Also, have you ever noticed that peeps shy away from Christian rock and things like Left Behind, but scramble for movies starring self-described Scientologists? Do these actors have legitimacy within your faith or are they perceived as riding the coattails, as it were?

actually Scientology has it's principles too. All religions do. And no religion is started on "honest" ground. Let's be real here.
@extremis: What about Buddhism?
@extremis: What about Buddhism?
It is hard to prove or disprove honesty. Buddhism can have many good values that doesn't mean it is honest. A Buddhist munch is not allow to cook. Maybe it was created by someone who didn't wanted to cook but still wanted to eat.
Athiesm is a religion?
It is a thought about religion and is therefore a valid viewpoint when the discussion is about religions.
@tupiaz: yes but how can we tell how honest something is if we cannot prove it to be real or fake?
@tupiaz: yes but how can we tell how honest something is if we cannot prove it to be real or fake?
Does it have to be real to be honest if the people who started it truly believed?
@tupiaz: yes but how can we tell how honest something is if we cannot prove it to be real or fake?
Doesn't matter if the it is real or fake but if the people preach it did believe it or not. If the people that first preached the religion believed the religion was the truth then the religion is honest if not then it is dishonest. However that is practical not possible to do with a religion that has several thousand years of history because the proves (if there ever was one) is most likely gone.
@cable_extreme: any religion that preaches unfounded nonsense isn't founded on "honesty". Religion in general isn't founded on truths so why would you think Buddhism is exempt from that?
The term honest in a world left with no answers is merely relative to the individual. What some people find as "unfounded nonsense" could be what other people honestly believe. Me personally, I am a self defined Agnostic, though technically speaking I would be an agnostic atheist. I do not think that making claims like "Religion in general isn't founded on truths so why would you think Buddhism is exempt from that?" is honest either. There is no way to determine truth except by science, and even then, it could drastically change when a groundbreaking theory comes along to explain everything better. And to reply to Dernman who said "Does it have to be real to be honest if the people who started it truly believed?" This is precisely my point.
Could someone explain in full detail what scientology is?, i've tried to research it myself but its one of those things that dont have straight forward answers. Do they believe in a god or what?
South Part pretty much covered it.

So... every religion?
Athiesm is a religion?
No, but stupid is as stupid does.
@cable_extreme: people can believe what they want. But just because people "honestly" believed something thousands of years ago and made a religion (or even more recently with Scientology) doesn't make it true. They're all equally "likely" possibilities in that they're all equally unlikely considering all we now know.
My point is someone bashing one specific religion for reasons already mentioned is hypocritical. They're all silly.
And as for a theory "coming along" we already have a pretty great one to explain things, it's called the Big Bang.
Deist.
There is a God or supreme deity that created the universe. But said God does not interfere or may not even be aware their is a universe.

Then, what's the point of its existence and/or believing in one?
I voted Scientology because I like the idea of alien souls living in me and being super broke.
Christianity isn't a religion. It is a relationship.
A relationship, eh? Does that mean those megachurches can start paying taxes now?
I'll be here all week.
Wait...
That wasn't even funny at all.

I think a small part of me can't let go of the fact that there is no God. I was formerly a Christian before, maybe that's why.
Also their is really nothing wrong with believing in this kind of God since it's really no faith or all that jazz involved. I don't have to pay 10% of everything I make or any of that stuff. It's something I believe and it really can't be proven or disproved.
Call my line of reasoning fallacious, flawed or erroneous if you want, but that just how I feel at this point of my life.
