My thoughts... warning i'm a techie so i go for really, really high spec stuff...

firstly upgrade your RAM... if your wanting 3D imaging you want 4GB RAM minumum, i'm on 8GB

motherboards good

operating system, go for Vista Ultimate... it's worth that bit extra... also, if your running Vista you definitely want more than 2GB RAM

Motherboard - I can't stress this enough... GET SLI COMPATIBLE

Hard Drive - 320GB? bit small, but i suppose you can use externals if you need it... personally i'd go for 500GB upwards, but i'm on TB now...

get rid of Lightscribe on the DVD drive, it's expensive and not that useful...

Graphics card... if your using image editing you want the best... GForce 7900GT 1GB onboard dedicated graphics memory... SLI

networking... meh lol

case... meh

power supply - Danger will robinson, Danger!!! you want at least 650, possibly more for todays high spec stuff

processor cooling - looks good, but if your really after silent running go for a liquid coolant system

are you on crack? there's no such this as a terabite ram computer, not yet anyway... the closest you can come is 12GB of ram currently M"

Supercomputers have that level of RAM. But that's why they're called super.

I think I confused kernal memory for ram memory.

either way... we are only just starting to go into Terrabytes in Hard Drive storage, it'll be a long time until we see Terrabyte RAM

the only way to get that much RAM is to use NODES like CRAY systems do, Binary computers cant physically hold that much RAM

Maybe Quantum computers can. Though I wonder how having data bieng both a 1 and a 0 at the same time's going to help.

And possibly the totaly unusual DNA computers. Which I bet will lead to people's personalities and memories bieng downloaded into a computer. Thus cheating death.

Quantum computing is a long way off as well... yes, being able to have 1, 0 and 1 & 0 is a major bonus for speed, but that isn't going to do much for the RAM, only the processing speed.

at the moment we are stuck because of the physical limitation of RAM chips

I had music videos on my computer, but deleted them as space became an issue. Still, I have about 16GB free. A new computer is definitely on my todo list.

Honestly, the best option for a graphic designer is a mac.

And this is coming from a PC user.

But diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.
