Music, once admitted to the soul, becomes a sort of spirit, and never dies.” - Edward Bulwer-Lytton.

Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.” - Maya Angelou.

Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.” - Victor Hugo.

If you can sum up yourself OR your life with just one piece of music, what will it be?

For all the music lovers out there, I invite you to share one piece of music that you feel either-- sum up who you are, what you are, how you were, what you inspire to be, or just a representation of your state of being. It can be a piece of instrumental music, or a song, a hymn, a melody, a chant or else. It can be from mainstream, from alternative, from games, from films, from real world, from personal creation or else. The only conditions are, you can only post one and it has to be true to your soul (relatively, since it is pure objective and personal), the essence of your being, so choose wisely, my fellow worldlings :-)

Oh, and one more thing, if you do decide to participate, do please share a link if possible, or post the song/music title and name of artists, so others can look it up and (hopefully) enjoy it even if the music link doesn't work in their region/country. :-)

.

.

.

now with that out of the way, my personal pick:

I Was Born for This

@limitless82: When it comes to Zep, it changes for me. One day I’m “The Rain Song” mentality, the next month I’m in “Dazed and Confused“ mode. But at the moment, “Thank You” is where I’m at.

Found on Led Zeppelin III, but the 01/04/1971 BBC sessions is my favorite version of the song. Jimmy Page just rips the solo from the depths of his soul ..ZoSo ?

@mazahs117: Thank you for sharing :-) And of course, our mood changes with the minutes and our experiences change with the life, it is impossible to remain unchanged from beginning to end, as long as it speaks for you now, this song and this moment is what truly counts, even if it is just for now :-)

@valorknight: A singular song my friend, you can pick just one, not the one you like the most, but the one song/music that you feel speaks the most about yourself or your life or your current state of mind/being. :-) feel free to post the MV or link here so we can all appreciate and sneak a peek into each other's soul :-P

Honestly I can't pick a single song or music piece that soothes my soul. Almost all of the songs on my phone are my favorites and I can't pick one.

As a music lover, my music taste was very diverse. I listen to almost all music genres as long as it's good except for some genres that is bad like Mumble rap. From Madonna to Rage Against The Machine to Benny Goodman.

@yassassin: heh worry not my friend, I did say you can use a tune from your personal creation too. Most of us are not talented enough to make our own music, but if you are, more power to you and I suppose, your own composition would speak the most about yourself indeed, so feel free to share away :-)

Not that song in particular, but Elliott Smith's Miss Misery, most known as the closing song to Good Will Hunting, was nominated as Best Original Song.

@limitless82: I think Earth Song by Michael Jackson soothes my soul the most because of the song's message.

The lyrics were about the mother Earth's natural resources getting destroyed which is true and still relevant today.

I would say at this point in my life jazz is the music of my soul. I could never pick just one, but I'll attach the classic jazz standard, Caravan written by Duke Ellington and Juan Tizol in 1936 as an example. This version is by one of the all-time great jazz guitarists, Wes Montgomery.

@limitless82: Yes that one. What you said is true. It's more relevant today. And I also love Heal The World and You Are Not Alone. I can listen to all MJ songs because I love them and it makes me wanna dance except for his ballads or gospel songs ofc. Lol

The genre of music that I listen to really depends on my mood. I gotta admit that I even like some of the bad music that is put out today because it's catchy but I hate most music that is put out today.

It's not necessarily the type of music I typically listen to but it's probably the song that speaks to me the most, musically and lyrically.

Ahhh that sounds relaxing even just thinking about it.... which country song slows the world down and lift you above it? :-)
