Pariah Lafferty's pistol of choice is the Walker Colt .45. I know the average comic book nerd is more likely an expert on medieval weapons than firearms, so here's a little rundown on this relic of the wild west.
At four and a half pounds, it isn't a light pistol and hers is likely closer to four and three quarters given the extended barrel. It holds five .45 LC (Long Colt) bullets that are each 250 grains with 40 grains of powder per for an incredible punch, especially by today's standards. This weapon was designed to be as lethal to a criminal as the horse he's riding, if necessary it could even stop a buffalo with a head shot.
This weapon was designed in 1846 specifically for the Texas Rangers by the legendary gunsmith Samuel Colt himself with assistance from Captain Samuel Walker, a Texas Ranger. He wanted a special weapon for the then extremely dangerous Texas frontier, one that was especially deadly at close range. He got it in a weapon named for him, and he carried two of them into the Mexican-American War where he represented his state with distinction.
This pistol is one of the most successful designs of all time in terms of reliability, accuracy, and power. Its biggest shortcomings are its weight and low ammo capacity at five shots. Probably its most famous portrayal in modern media was in the film The Outlaw Josey Wales, where Clint Eastwood dual wielded them throughout the movie.
