Actually I saw a doc on 20/20 that showed that people were letting kids into College (no matter how smart they are) because professeurs got payed by how many students they teach and the college loves getting payed.Also, if people play vids they dont study as much, I also love how they don't mention pot or any other narcotics or booze

Videogames are pretty much the reason for my abnormally large vocabulary. You learn facts from videogames. I've been playing since I was 2. Like EC said, you'd have to already be an idiot to have a game rot your brain. Eyeballs, however is another thing.......16 hours straight, every day of 4-player X-Men Legends is brutal.

Acually I saw a news show I forget wich one mabye evem daily planet and they said that it improves your ability to spot thing. Because u are used to looking for thing in video games and checking out new areas and stuff.

Videogames can rot the brain but they can also help with some cognitive skills, like working out puzzles. The puzzles you have to do to get to the Gym Leaders in Pokemon are fun stuff. Yes, there is the danger of addiction to videogames though, yes I've been there. It is better to hang around more with the family and to go outside when the weather is good. I remember sometimes just staring at the TV while watching programmes and staring at the TV while playing videogames while my dad was calling me but because I was so glued and addicted to the telly I didn't notice my parents calling...so yeah, it can be bad...I think there are many people who have experienced similar things when it comes to videogames. Also, I used to get angry when the videogame didn't work or when I lost. For example, in Formula 1 1999 on PS1, my car didn't start properly for the race so I threw my pen on the floor in anger and shouted a bit, this was perhaps my first experience of game rage. When I beat Venom in GameCube's Ultimate Spider-Man, the completion sequence didn't work and stopped midway so I got frustrated, angry and annoyed. There are Chess videogames which make people less angry and can help thinking skills in a positive way. Some videogames can be too violent and can lead to bad thoughts...like GTA and Manhunt...but usually people who commit crimes based on violent games already have a serious underlying mental health issue. Most people who play violent videogames don't copy the game and use the stuff into real life. I think things like solving puzzles and educational stuff in videogames...things that are harmless and require thinking...are good. But there are also a lot of unnecessary and useless stuff in videogames that are not for any productive member of society.

Too much of anything is bad for you and a quick Google search will tell you that for playing video games or even leisure activities like browsing the web. I'd argue "violent" games "rot" the brain much more than nonviolent games, which is an obvious one.

In small amounts though I'd say most games are not bad for you if balanced out with other "smart" activities that activate various parts of the brain. It's much easier to give this advice than to do it though in my experience (and I'm sure a lot of people would agree).
