Werewolves are way cooler than Vampires, so lycans.
Vampire or Lycan?

Got it. What made you change your answer from vamp to wolf?

Vampire.
Just el curious, have there been any actual female Lycans? Other than the hybrid sort, of course.

No.

Also Lycans just seem more worth it. It's like everything a vampire is and more without the easily obtainable weaknesses. Not many people I know carrying around silver bullets, knives, and throwing stars.
Didn't Michael try to eat human food and almost die from it?
@god_spawn said:
@majestic99: Yup. He pretty much had a massive seizure IIRC. I think I mentioned it in this thread or some other lycan or vampire one.
I have to give up food and the sun? Well in that case,
Lycan all the way.
Well, I assume, as is the case in most vampire lore, that blood tastes better than any food you will ever have, and you won't get tired of it, so the giving up food, not a big deal..however the sun thing...that's tough...but I pick Vampire simply because turning into a Werewolf looks painful, in the movie, literally every bone in Michael's body shifted and changed when he was transforming...wasn't pretty.

When was this stated in Underworld?

In Underworld Vampires healed quicker and became stronger once they drank blood (Both Viktor and Marcus did this once they first awoke) As for the ecstasy part, vampires of all media usually describe blood as life essence and describe it as delicious and quenches their thirst like nothing else.

@majestic99: Underworld lycans because they are also immortal and can strut around in the day without combusting.
Didn't Lucian heal from silver bullets in the first film?
If so, doesn't that mean he's immune to silver?
@god_spawn said:
@majestic99: He pushed the regular silver bullets out. The bullets that contained the silver nitrate? that got pumped into his system ended up killing him or damaging him enough for Kraven to shoot him more.
So no. He just has a high resistance.
@The Stegman said:
@majestic99: He managed to force the silver rounds out, although it may have been due to his age, as silver bullets killed many other lycans, also, he had to succumb to the silver nitrate rounds, which killed him.
Okay, thanks for the info.
Idk I'm really not all to into lycans, but I like them, Vamps are on the wrong side of this poll, I understand, pop culture is over saturated with them, yet i like them
I rather be a Zombie
yet for this
Vamp.

You mean because most movies are pro vampire?
Then you're correct. Vampires are overrated.

I hate to be that guy, but how exactly are they overrated? Pop culture being over saturated I'd agree with at least at the moment, but how exactly are they overrated when the bare concept of the vampire is so loose and vague as to leave infinite design possibilities that can be as far removed from one another as a Harpy Eagle is from a Bluejay. And that's just the concept of conventional vampires.
When you get more exotic with the concept physically of the vampire or with vampirism as a concept it fits together more like an orange and a shoe.
Of the versions offered, I'd go with Lycan. And I know I'm biased, because to me the Underworld concept of vampires really didn't have much to offer to balance out the cons inherent to the condition in my opinion.
@Soulstealer:
In Underworld, the lycans were enslaved, the lycans had a weakness that was more common than Superman's weakness to kryptonite, the lycans died easy.
Finally, the vampires were shown as aristocratic(they had a organized government and advanced weapons) where the lycans were shown as barbarians(exterminated like cockroaches).
@majestic99: Nope, not overrated, just a lot in this day in age, so of course there is a counter culture
and nope, Vamps aren't real so they can be anything from Twilight to 30 day's of night or those things

They were enslaved because they were created (as a race anyway) by their master race and had to rebel to gain freedom in the first place . Also I'd say sunlight is a lot more common than silver, but that's just me. The stronger Lycans were capable of purging silver so long as it was solid, that would be why they had liquid rounds for Lucian in the end. Vampires and Lycans are susceptible to the same sort of deaths outside of their weaknesses and Lycans in wolf form are always more durable, they give up speed for durability, but Lucian made it pretty obvious that they aren't base stats in human form either.
The vampires didn't really have anything as far as society goes. Their whole society pretty much existed as a kingdom, Marcus showed up and turned them all, and things went on as before. As for their technology, they used it. The Lycans did as well or did you forget about the UV rounds? As for exotic weapons, the vampires needed them, the Lycans not so much because of their natural weapons, strength, and physical presence.
Vamps may have been living in luxury, but then they weren't the ones being hunted, and plus the Lycans as a whole didn't seem to care for luxury or even humanity for that matter because unlike the vamps they aren't dependent on them as a food source.
@Soulstealer:
1. The lycans were still enslaved
2. Nothing you have said changes the fact that the vampires were shown as aristocratic where as the lycans were shown as barbaric.

1. What does it matter? They were created as slaves. It hardly makes them inferior to their captors in any regard.
2. They were aristocrats before they ever became vampires, so again what does it matter? Likewise, the Lycans chose to live as they do. So I ask, what point are you trying to make?
@Soulstealer:
I'm saying the lycans shouldn't be shown as slaves, they should be shown to be as aristocratic as vampires are.

They weren't shown as slaves, they were literally enslaved as a people. It doesn't matter if you think it unjust, it happened. It no doubt affects the psychology of a few of them, but it has no baring on how they choose to live their lives.
What has more baring in my opinion, is being hunted by another supernatural race. Though I'm not sure if the writers ever considered it, but one would think that the hunt goes both ways and living the high life seems counter productive.
@Soulstealer:
The lycans were exterminated like cockroaches by the aristocratic vampires.
Why is that?
Why can't it ever be the other way around?

Exterminated? Really? They were at war. In the first Underworld the only really competent Deathdealer we see is Selene. We see plenty of Lycans kill vamps, heck they even kill that female elder though that's slightly plot driven given that Lucian has a mole, but still smart move on his part and one that I didn't see the vamps capable of duplicating which I guess says something about Lycan loyalty. So sure they're being hunted, but it's hardly a one-sided battle. And the only really dangerous people either side tends to have are main characters.
Plot driven craziness aside, the Lycans were smarter about how they fought the war and I'd say their guerrilla tactics were causing the vamps more problems than the vamps' search and destroy strategy was causing them.
As for why it can't be the other way around, the vamps were already wealthy as a kingdom before the war and they were still wealthy during it and are also immortals. So in short they're wealthy and capable of accruing more and more wealth, probably almost indefinitely.
The opposition were surfs and common people before being forced into slavery and changed into Lycans. As a whole this group of people already knew nothing about wealth and obviously didn't care about wealth at all under Lucian's rule as they have decided to use tactics and trickery to their advantage and were doing a pretty good job of it.
Lycan. (mainly because Vampires can't go into sunlight. That is bull)

Doesn't blood taste 10,000 times better than your favorite food and drink combined and you never get tired of it?
