UK Music Thread
"Howdy y'all". From this phrase you might think i'm from Southern USA, but you'd be mistaken. Actually i'm from the UK. In any case, i was curious to see what the Viner's thought about UK music. Every so often i will post up a track or two and get you to review it/them.
UK music has several genres but the main ones i'll be showcasing here will be: Grime/UKhiphop/Electro/Bassline/UKGarage/ and a bit of RnB.
When critically analysing/reviewing a track this should be the format:
1-Beat out of 10
2-Flow/Melody out of 10
3-Content out of 10
4-Replayability out of 10
Hopefully this little exercise will inspire some of u to seek out some of these tracks and look into some of the UK's music artists.
Let the songs begin.
@omdway:
1-Beat 7 of 10
2-Flow/Melody 8 of 10
3-Content out 9 of 10
4-Replayability 8 of 10
True say that good UK rapper are hard to find
Long Live Palestine
Rah safe for takin the time to do this. I'll give your track a look over in a few days. My comp has sound issues atm. But Ive heard a lot about Lowkey. He did a feature with Doc Brown on the 'Mad World' beat; so i kno LowKey speaks sense.
LoL at ur username. Thats some macabre sh*t dude. LoL.
Will hit u up on here so keep ur fingaz peeled.
SAFE
what we need know is another brit-pop scene so we can forget all american RnB and rap shit and get back to the days of the stone roses and oasis, bands that actually speak to you not just go on about money and shaggin paris hilton.
True tinchy was the guy back in the days. I never cared about chipmuck and as for N-Dubz, once you hear their first two songs, you realise how uncreative they are.
" @Death Certificate: I disagree, good UK hip hop is easy to come by if you know were to look. "im not calling hip hop shit im just saying that if you look back at the 90's everyone was looking to england for the next big thing now every thing comes from the USA and its all wank, boring and it all sounds the same and its not about the music either i mean lady gaga has a new single every week. i wish i was the age i am now in the 90's :(
Even alot of good things came from the 90's lets forget we also made the spice girls but, to be honset I rather listen them than anything that comes on tv these days.
OMD that Lowkey track blew me away. Thats is deep bizzel son. This is wat rappers COULD be talking about but they chat bout commercial bs instead.
Ok to the review:
1-Beat 8 of 10 (I luv beat with a violin since i used to play, slight bias)
2-Flow/Melody 7 of 10
3-Content out 9 of 10
4-Replayability 8 of 10
That track is UP THERE boy.
Soz bout the delay...tbh wasnt sure if i cud find a track to match urs but here goes...
"Do we really need a UK music thread? Sorry all music is music no matter where you're from. "
@geraldthesloth:
If u've heard or scene a single one of these tracks on MAINSTREAM media b4 u heard them on here then u'd be right. But the fact that this music is of critical acclaim and is still underground has inspired me to try and raise awareness of the wealth of talent that never sees the light of day.
I'm not attcking u personally but u must admit there is a glut of mainstream american music which stifles some really talented artists.
Not really feeling the tune to but it decent at least
1-Beat 5 of 10
2-Flow/Melody 6 of 10
3-Content 7 of 10
4-Replayability 3 of 10
Here's Black tha ripper
Nice I like BTR he's smart and he keeps it real. This is a good track but i listened to it while i was in the mood for funky house (still i factored this in)
Hence:
1-Beat 7 of 10
2-Flow/Melody 8 of 10
3-Content 9 of 10
4-Replayability 7 of 10
Overall v. Good track.
I just realised all the tracks so far have been pretty rap orientated i totally forgot to do the FUNKY HOUSE, Bassline and Garage so ...here we go.
