UFC signs Valentina Shevchenko

I want to start making blogs about new fighters that are potentially marketable threats so this is my first. Just as I thought the women's bantamweight division wouldn't get interesting then UFC decides to do this. This girl is a killer in the striking department. I have watch her in action and it is scary. She is literally JJ at 135. Her vs Holly Holm is going to be a all out war when that day comes. She is a 3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo. She is 60-1 in Kickboxing/Muay Thai and 2-0 in Pro-Boxing. Her current MMA record is 9-1 which isn't bad.

She will make her debut at Dos Anjos vs Cerrone 2 and I believe you guys will be in for a treat. Her opponent is Sarah Kaufman. Dana White might turn her in to another one of his cash cows.

Looks like she relies on her Muy Thai prowess, rather than boxing. A lot of her recent wins have been controversial. Plus, she's tiny, height wise. I don't think she'll win against Kaufman.

@ms-lola: You're probably right. Kaufman isn't as good as she used to be but she could possibly ko her. I hate how UFC sign new fighters and automatically put them against top tier fighters. That is ludicrous.

@somayareece: That's scary, I agree. I found this on her, and it says she's been prematurely placed in fights her opponents felt she shouldn't have. This upcoming fight is as a replacement, but she was due for the same tier level match up in January, so we'll see.

@ms-lola: It is very risky and puts them in danger. I respect her eagerness to take these fights but it won't look good on her record. She was suppose to fight for the Legacy FC belt in January. The same belt that Holly Holm won and vacated before joining UFC.

I think they need a woman's flyweight division, first and foremost.

And Chris Weidman was gonna beat Luke Rockhold. Look at how that turned out.

Miesha has huge holes in her game.

@comicstooge: Styles makes fights. No one can beat her on the ground except Ronda. She usually win all of her fights by wrestling her opponents to death. The flyweight division is shallow. Barb Honchak is the #1 flyweight and you will be crazy to think she can beat Miesha.

Women will move up from 115 and down from 135 to fill the division. You can't tell me 115 isn't a pretty strong division right now.

What are peoples thoughts on Angela lee?

JDS/Overeem and Diaz/Johnson are gonna be good fights too.

@ms-lola: Wow, Valentina actually won. That is a impressive debut for her.

@somayareece: I'm surprised. Really surprised. Her style of dirty boxing seems to work for her, although it would have been better to have seen a more decisive score. Her next bout should be interesting, whatever that will be and with whom.

@ms-lola: Yeah, she beat Joanna three times in Kickboxing. Joanna is dominating the Strawweight division so it isn't much of a suprise. Kaufman looked pretty disappointed after the fight. I see great things for Valentina coming.
