Tokusatsu thread

Figured since there's a few Anime/Manga threads and a gaming thread maybe one of these could work out too. Tokusatsu's basically an umbrella term for Japanese superhero shows. The two most popular examples are Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, though lesser-known examples like GARO are out there.

The current KR and SS are Kamen Rider Gaim (a fruit-themed Rider show) and Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger (one of many dinosaur-themed Sentai), which is set to end soon. However, Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger (train-themed Sentai) is set to debut mid-February.

So yeah, dunno how many Toku fans there are on the forums, but I was bored enough to make it, lol.

I'm way behind on Gaim. Definitely gonna catch up in time for the Genesis Riders. Still not entirely sure how I feel about Tokkyuger, lmao.

Train themed superheros? That does not seem practical.

So, dunno how many other toku fans there are out here, but we got our new Rider series. After Gaim ends, we're gonna get Kamen Rider Drive. Car-themed. Instead of driving a bike like most Riders, Drive will be.. well, driving a car called the Trideron. Riku Sanjo is head writer (mostly known for his work on W/Double, but he did work on Kyoryuger recently), with Keiichi Hasegawa as secondary writer (also worked on W, as well as Fourze. Known for his Ultraman work, too). It's gonna have a police setting, with the main character Shinnosuke Tomari (played by Ryoma Takeuchi) part of a special police division.

All in all, it's sounding good, despite some connections to the very mediocre Kyoryuger. Good source for info/news is here. They've been posting updates as we get them.
