To be a fanboy

Ok I just got to thinking and wanted to see what everyone's responees would be.

1) What is it that make's someone a fanboy?

2) Is it ok to be a fanboy?

3) Why is it ok to admit to yourself your a fanboy?

4) Why when someoneelse calls you a faboy it is offensive?

IM A FANGURL AND I DONT GIVE A F@CK....why have a fav if u aint gonna stick up for them??

1)That you give extra credit to one character that you really like

2)Tecnically we're all fanboys

3)It makes life a lot easier lol

4)it depends the context in which is written

i 'am a fanboy and i'am ok with it

1.loving a character more then others

3.because there is nothing wrong with having a favorite

On here, when or if someone calls you a fanboy, there basically saying you cant, wont, or refuse to engage topics involving your favorite character with an open mind. There basically telling you that your irrational.

You wanna see an example of what a fanboy is? Go to anyone of the DBZ threads and bare witness.

1. You are overly obessed(spelling?) with a character or object in comics, etc.

2. Sure, though it can get annoying for others if you don't control yourself.

3. Cause everyone here is a Fanboy or girl.

4. Cause its used in a negative way when someone calls you it.

1) To me a fanboy is someone who may not know EVERYTHING about the character but will do and say whatever it takes for thier character to be on the top.

2) I think it is ok to be a fanboy as long as it is not taken to the extreme. Some seneabilit needs to be there.

3) Your more comfortable with yourself, and if your ok wih it you do not mind so much that others know it.

4) Heres the tricky one. People often take it as an insult, but is it really? If you are a fan of the character/subject why not embrace it?

Godzilla, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Transformers, Halo, there's a lot of them.

Those are my primary ones.

5) Can you be anti-fanboy? and is that bad?

For example not like a certain character or genre just because of its fans?

Thats something I've noticed here too. But to the VINE's defense I have noticed it pretty much everywhere.

Same here, except it was Godzilla and Transformers.

I was on debates and stuff. You can judge my judgements on the debate if you want. But I don't think I was unreasonable, but you can judge. I posted spome battle threads, people came out calling me a fanboy, probably thinking I had no idea of the characters.

Every character has bad fanboys.

They are really no different or better than others.

I tend to delineate "fanboys" as those fans of particular characters that take any criticism of said character as a personal affront and also lack the ability discuss the character rationally, such as in a Vs. debate.

"ZOMG, Magneto can so totally whip Galactus @ss!!!! And if u don't think so, ur stoopid!!!!" would be an example of fanboy-ism.

2) Is it ok to be a fanboy?

As I said, there are fans and there are fanboys. Fans are great, fanboys are a pain in the @ss. The instant one takes criticism of a character so much to heart they start attacking posters personally, they've crossed the line into obnoxiousness.

3) Why is it ok to admit to yourself your a fanboy?

It wouldn't be. I think it would be great if people could enter character discussions with "I'm a fan of...so I'm biased." That would be o.k.

4) Why when someone else calls you a fanboy it is offensive?

No, because it's usually trotted out by fanboys when they can't win a debate.

Odds are there will always be a bad fanboy. One person can pretty much ruin it for others.
