The Worst "Halftime Show' in History

Okay, so I actually watched the Super Bowl when it came on.

And it completely sucked. The Patriots won for the millionth time, barely anyone scored and I was bored out of my mind. But the game isn't what I'm talking about. I'm talking about that...THING that happened in between the second and third quarter.

So, when I first heard that Maroon 5, the Comic Sans of music, was playing the halftime show, I was pissed but not surprised. Thankfully, they got some Atlanta-based rappers (I live near Atlanta, so I was passionate that the rich hip-hop culture was represented) to spice things up. Then, after Stephen Hillenburg died, a petition was made that got hundreds of thousands of signatures to have "Sweet Victory", one of the most memorable "Spongebob" songs played at the show. And before the game, the NFL announced that was going to happen.

If only.

Instead of getting Sweet Victory, we got a 3-second clip of Spongebob that led into Travis Scott's "Sicko Mode", which is a song that I used to like, but now hate due to it being used to spit on Stephen Hillenburg's grave. And if that wasn't enough, we got Maroon 5 playing the same old bubblegum pop songs and Adam Levine re-enacting Magic Mike for all to see. Therefore, we officially got the "YouTube Rewind 2018" of Halftime shows; a "concert" that showed just how much the elites that control the music industry look down on the common person while making Madonna's Super Bowl XLVI performance look like Freddie Mercury at Live Aid by comparison. Now let's just forget this travesty ever happened and hope that next year's halftime show is at least 1% more tolerable.

The only reason I can think of as to why I would watch the Superbowl is for trailers / tv spots.

You have only yourself to blame. You should have switched channels to the puppy bowl for some joy.

Was it really that bad? Come on.

Never even heard of Sweet Victory...I have no idea what all this is about.

And even those were't that good this year. The only real standouts, imo, were for Endgame and The Twilight Zone.

This Superbowl makes Justin Timberlake's Superbowl performance look good. Thank God, I didn't watch it. I'm happy that you said this before I even thought of watching it.

@lunacyde: the song is the big one that everyone wanted to play at the halftime because Stephen Hillenburg (creator of the show) died in honor of him. Like, this was the biggest song ever in the show and possibly the only one where it felt everyone in the Bikini Bottom were together. Meant a lot for the fans, show, etc. but it was just used for the usual repetitive hip hop song of the season.

TV show actually. And I would normally agree with you, except it's being produced by Jordan Peele, the guy who directed Get Out. If anyone can make revamp The Twilight Zone, it's him.

I was the worst pile of whining drivel it has ever been my misfortune to hear. I'd rather listen to a constipated banshee with laryngitis than listen to that ridiculous halftime show again. Honestly it was like someone was throwing animals in a large factory blender that was on super slow. I wanted to drive spikes into my ears.

I stopped watching the Superbowl.

Super Bowl 9 was notably worse. At this point it's just circlejerk. We get it, they didn't play the song. It's now devolved into "maroon 5 bad gib updoot".

I dont even like football.

It was embarrassingly bad.

I mean realistically... Travis Scott is one of the best performers in recent memory (like the last 6-7 years) , but he is limited to one song; Sicko Mode , due to the demographic of fans who watch the Superbowl lol , he cant perform his better songs like Pick Up the Phone , Yosemite, Apple Pie , etc. due the demographic & most people dont even know who Big Boi is sadly (one of the greatest rappers of our generation) , the Halftime show was a congested mess that tried to Mix Maroon 5 (everybody knows them) , Travis Scott (white kids love Sicko Mode for some odd reason) & Big Boi (an ATL legend) & didnt realize they put 3 different types of music on stage .... whoever was in charge needs to be FIRED & they need a creative team lf younger individuals of ALL demographics

It was a travesty.

Side-note: I haven't cared about the NFL since Kaepernick was ostracized. Yes, I'm that guy.
