Okay since throwing rip off around has become so popular around here I decided to make a thread to point out all of them so as part of this you can either point them out your selves or @reply me with a character that you think is 100% original and I will personally research them and prove you wrong.
The official outting rip offs thread
@joshmightbe: This thread is a rip off!
ALSO "rip off" is the new "overrated"
@squalleon: Kind of the actual point of the thread, I just want to show people that even what they think of as the most original character was more than likely at the very least inspired by something else.
@joshmightbe: i was joking :-)
@rulerofthisuniverse: Zorro, give me a challenge.
@joshmightbe: What about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?
@night_thrasher: What are those things?
@rulerofthisuniverse: Samurai Pizza Cats. They became popular after the first TMNT cartoon
@night_thrasher: yep, that's a rip off. How about Hawkman?
@night_thrasher: @rulerofthisuniverse: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was originally intended as a parody of the darker comics of the era, The turtles themselves are a hodgepodge of different influences. The Foot clan is a pretty direct rip off of The Hand from Marvel. and NightThrasher was showing the Samurai Pizza Cats who actually came after TMNT along with the whole slew of TMNT rip offs that showed up in the early 90s such as Street Sharks and Biker Mice from Mars.
@joshmightbe: Thanks! My one about Hawkman still stands.
@joshmightbe: The TMNT actually were inspired by Daredevil, example, both got their powers through hazardous chemicals.
@joshmightbe: You are on fire.
Answer me this.Wolverine
@rulerofthisuniverse: Hawkman was pretty heavily influenced by Egyptian mythology particularly the Hawk headed god Horus.
@joshmightbe: Oh. In retrospect that one was kind of obvious. Spider-Man?
@wolverine08: The kid who was carrying their bowl when they fell into the sewer was meant to be Matt Murdoch.
@squalleon: Actually Wolverine has a funny origin, his creator only named him Wolverine because he was a huge fan of Michigan State Football and was originally intended to be an actual mutated Wolverine but most of his personality was ripped off from Clint Eastwood's character in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

MIND BLOWN. I didn't even know this, and Wolverine is my favorite hero!
@wolverine08: The Michigan State thing is also why his original uniform was blue and gold.
@joshmightbe: That Wolverine info is really cool! I never knew any of that!
@rulerofthisuniverse: Spider-man is a bit tricky though I can point out that Spiders as heroes is actually a highly common thing among some forms of mythology, this one will take a bit more research but I can point out that the version from Spider-Man Noir was loosely inspired by an old hero from Pulp Fiction known as the Spider.
@rulerofthisuniverse: And no I don't mean the Tarantino movie I mean Pulp novels.
@joshmightbe: You left me speechless.Great work.I think i will really enjoy this thread.
@joshmightbe: Cool! I didn't know that part about spiders in mythology. He's probably just a guy they gave the abilities of a spider and the classic superhero enhanced strength and senses, so it might not be a rip off (unless you count that as a ripoff of a spider).
@squalleon: Also Punisher has a Clint Eastwood connection as well, the movies Dirty Harry and Taxi Driver were the primary inspirations for the Punisher.
@rulerofthisuniverse: Well Spiders are a big part of most types of mythology, Anansi the spider is possibly the most famous non egyptian mythological figure from Africa.
@rulerofthisuniverse: Zorro was pretty much just the Mexican version of Robin Hood with a few things altered and added.
@wolverine08: Also he debuted as a Hulk enemy and the claws were originally intended to be part of his gloves. They didn't become part of his body until he joined the X-Men.
@joshmightbe: Cool. What about Atom?
@rulerofthisuniverse: which one, the original Atom had no powers and got his name because he was short, Ray Palmer (And Ant-Man) were based off the main character form a 1950s sci-fi movie called the Incredible Shrinking Man.
@joshmightbe: My two coppers. Spiders in myth are usually trickster gods. Spidey seems to get off at his wit. And Punisher was also based some on Mack Bolan the Executioner. Finally TMNT you forgot to mention the X-Men being another inspiration.
Cool about the Good the Bad and the Ugly nod for Wolverine. I see it, and at one time would have liked a Clint based Wolvie on the big screen. But I never knew it was official. Cool as hell thread btw.
@joshmightbe: Ray Palmer, and that's really cool. This thread is quite interesting.
@mynamewasdeleted: Well since Gilgamesh is a character that predates the written word so he might be a rip off of some story a cave man told but there is really no way to know there.
@glitch_spawn: Well stories of people entering the minds of other people have been around for thousands of years. And the idea of people possessing the minds and bodies of others predates most religions.
@risingbean: Trickster gods were considered amongst the most important gods in many forms of mythology, they were often considered key components in many creation myths, as well as being responsible for many stories happening at all. Did you know that in Norse Mythology Loki commissioned the creation of Thor's hammer and gave it to him as a gift, same with Odin's spear.
