Think about it Zeus and Poseidon were confirmed rapists, Hades was a kidnapper who was willing to let the whole world die so he could get laid, Demeter was willing to kill the world because she couldn't find her kid, Athena turned a woman into one of the most famous and horrible monsters in Mythology in order to punish her for being raped (That's how Medusa came to be), Hera tried to kill babies, Aphrodite was pretty much the biggest slut in the universe and Apollo had a dude skinned for playing a lyre better than him.
The Greek Gods were evil

I get why you bring up the other things, but is this really evil? That seems a bit harsh.
Back in those days all those activities simply meant you were awesome......just like how drugs in the seventies are now considered bad.
@v_scarlotte_rose: Well she did cheat on her husband a lot but really I couldn't really find much on her that wasn't sex related but figured she should be included
They were immoral mortals with Demi god like powers who superciliously gave themselves the title of gods.
@wolverine08: They weren't real at all.
@wolverine08: But in the context they were considered gods and were born as such in the stories.
True. But in actuality, they were too immoral to be truly gods. But I understand that they were born as gods and such in the stories.
@wolverine08: Gods was more of a racial description back then so morality really doesn't factor into it.
If you study the religious structure of Greece, it makes sense that they weren't all angels. They were to be APPEASED so shit like that didn't happen to you, a tiny insignificant piece of gum on their sandals. Though I will say they were assholes. And it wasn't just the gods, the heroes too. Achilles was a rapist and possibly child molester, Theseus and his best buddy tried to kidnap a goddess to rape her (they got their asses handed to them, literally. Theseus had no butt by the time he died). Odysseus constantly cheated on his wife who waited faithfully for him for not 1, not 10 but 20 years. TWENTY. Don't even get me started on Heracles. Perseus was really the only one worth anything.
Good and evil are concepts invented by mortals, in an attempt to understand matters and beings beyond their ability to truly comprehend.
You can say that about any "God". The Abrahamic "God"(Jews, Christians, Muslims) ordered mass genocides, murders, human sacrifices, and even punished the faithful for no other reason but to prove a point to its rival. That sounds pretty evil. The Norse gods murdered their own and were known to rape humans. Same goes with Hindu gods, Roman gods, etc
@mrdecepticonleader: Well Buddha is generally pretty laid back but I don't know if he counts as a god or not
@biggkeem89: I'd say at least the Abramic God didn't punish people for no reason, but then I remember Job
@mrdecepticonleader: Well Buddha is generally pretty laid back but I don't know if he counts as a god or not
Not sure if he is or not.
Pretty much most gods are evil or quite nasty. Look at the ones people still worship today.
How many times has Thor saved Earth? Show some gratitude.

@mrdecepticonleader: There does seem to be a bit of confusion (at least in the Western world) as to whether or not Buddhism is even a full on religion or just a branch of Hinduism. I was under the impression it was similar to the relationship between Judaism and Christianity.

It seems like a religion to me.

@joshmightbe: Ah but there's the argument that God was testing Job
@akindoodle: Yea he was testing whether he could ruin his life and have Job still worship him to settle a bet. He killed his family and took everything away from him and would have damned him to hell for all eternity if Job happened to completely justifiably think God was cruel for a second.
"That life is chaotic, unjust and apparently blind and without reason or direction, anyone can see..."

she created Medusa .
@avenging_x_bolt: Athena created Medusa, it was a punishment she placed on a woman for having the nerve to be raped by Poseidon

yeah my bad. i just got done watching Clash of The Titans where they said it was Aphrodite and Medusa was seduced. we just cant seem to get it right these days.

she had the absolute most loving, gentle and loyal husband there is and she cheated on him hundreds of times without remorse. that is evil.
@avenging_x_bolt: Yeah, but he was uuugly :P
Hermes never done anything did he?
He was the God of Theives
@joshmightbe: Oh, but he never really did anything to bad himself did he?
@avenging_x_bolt: Yeah, but he was uuugly :P
than she never should have married him.
@joewell: Hephaestus was probably the least psychotic of the bunch but no he wasn't totally innocent.
@avenging_x_bolt: She did it so she could cheat, cuz he's always in the forges
@joewell: Hermes seemed to focus much of his theft and mischief on other gods so I guess he would technically be considered okay by human standards
@avenging_x_bolt: She did it so she could cheat, cuz he's always in the forges
she couldnt just stay single?
@avenging_x_bolt: I think she had to marry one of the gods
@joewell: Zeus did force her to marry to avoid the male gods going to war over her. Basically Hephaestus just happened to be there when he made the decree.
@joshmightbe: Though So
( not justifying anything she done btw )
