This thread is to discuss the drinking and history of tea, AKA the greatest non-alcoholic beverage of all time.
Facts about Tea
- Tea is the most consumed beverage in the world aside from water
- There are four major types of tea. Black, green, oolong and white. They all come from the same plant and the only differences is how the leaf is treated/processed
- Tea has majorly affected the history of the world. Will expand on this later
- Herbal tea isn't technically a tea, as herbal teas do not include parts from the plant Camellia sinensis. Instead they are technically infusions made from the leaves, roots, flowers or occasionally fruits/seeds of various other plants
- Tea has several beneficial health effects, and does not cause a caffeine crash like coffee or energy drinks. Tea and some herbal teas have medicinal values, including soothing the digestive system. Tea contains antioxidants and is calorie free
