Of course the answer is taller guys regardless of the "feel good" lies you get fed to by society. If you ain't tall, dark and handsome, the amount of hoops you have to jump through is insane and the reward isn't that great at the end

It's extremely easy to compensate for average, or slightly below average height. Most girls are shorter than that, so they won't care. Even if the girl is taller than you, that's not the end all be all for most people. You can still look good as a shorter guy. And if you also have personality, and plans for the future, height won't make any difference at all.

I guess anything over 5 feet

Guy here and I've never known a girl who wants a shorter guy. I'd prefer my girlfriend to be at least 5'3" though.

Guys are like girls in that they prefer tall women. Short women choose tall guys and the guys accept it but that doesn't mean they don't prefer a woman that's taller. But hypergamy kind of ruins actually choosing for guys, they have to settle for whoever bites the bait or jumps into his boat

Even in the 1920s-60s, the ideal woman isn't short compared to the average height back then (5'4"). Marilyn Monroe was 5'5", in an age where men were 5'7" on average. Audrey Hepburn was 5'7", and she was the ideal woman for pretty much forever. Of course, in middle east and Asian they prefer their little girls (easier to dominate) but in America we love our full grown adult women

Personally, speaking from a guy's perspective, when I was younger, I typically dated girls shorter than me, since that's the social norm and general expectation/comfort zone. But as I got older and more confident (and give less of a F to others' unwarranted opinions lol), I have dated one that was a couple of inches taller than me and you know what? It was fine too, neither of us felt awkward or weird or bothered by the occasional odd glances (F them, who cares), the chemistry felt right between us and that was all that matters. It didn't work out in the end due to personality differences but as far as the height goes, it was a non-issue.
