For relationship duly recognize by the law, where all parties have legal responsibilities to fulfill (ie: employer-employee trade/business partnerships, teacher-student, marriage, guardianship, etc), yes and there are already laws that recognize these issues.

Non-compliance to your contract conditions (contract that is legal and recognized by the law) are usually considered as illegal in many territories.

However not all types of human "relationships" are recognized by the law.

For example: certain relationship with individuals that are not of legal age are usually not recognize by the law. We usually have their guardian approve of them first.

"Business" relationship that involves unlawful activities are also not recognize by the law as binding (ie: loan sharking, racketeering, kill for hire businesses)

It shouldn’t be illegal, but it’s still a crappy and hurtful thing to do nonetheless.

Cheating is pretty hard to prove. But if you cheat in marriage, I feel like there should be a penalty.

It's wild tho, because in some instances when a chick cheats on a guy and then they separate, the guy still has to pay the chick a bunch of money just because she was at home vibing while he was working.

Like imagine this: you're a dude, you meet a girl that you love and wanna settle down with. You get a job to financially support the two of you. You work hard at the office for 5 whole years and then come home one day to surprise your wife with flowers. But when you get home, you see your wife doing the devil's tango with some random dude named "Brad" or something. You're heartbroken and you never wanna see her again so you get a divorce. But then the government calls you up and tells you that just because you made the mistake of marrying that chick, you now have to pay her HALF of everything you worked hard for. So now you get depressed, you end up moving out of the house YOU paid for and go live in a small, dirty apartment because that's the only thing you can afford after getting your soul drained out by your ex wife. Then one day you go to the house to get something your forgot. You ask permission to get into your own house and see that freaking BRAD IS NOW LIVING WITH YOUR EX WIFE. IN THE HOUSE THAT YOU PAID FOR.

So you go home and shoot yourself in the head. But guess what, you somehow couldn't even do that right. So now you have to live in a wheel chair for the rest of your life, with half your brain working, while brad over there gets to live off your hard work. Life is unfair.

For the OT: Idk man I don't really have any strong opinions on it.

No. It will scare even more people from dating, and it will cause people to stay in abusive relationships because they are afraid of getting accused.

Guys already didn't want to date because of fake #MeToo Accusations.

Why is there a need for a law? What is the underlying reason? Another quick observation is that over 50% of male gay and bisexual relationships have cheated while in a committed relationship or marriage. Are you going to put all those gay men in jail?

Cheating is wrong, but we don't want to open that pandora's box.

Also, LOL at the OP. There can be consequences, and often are, they just aren't criminal consequences.

In relationships? Like, not even in marriage, just BF/GF?

Lol no, that would be insane.

Regardless, there should be no legal consequences for adultery. People can do what they want.

If you hurt your spouse for cheating, then it becomes a case of abuse, for which there are legal penalties.

I think there are consequences in fault states. It affects the settlement in the divorce. Not sure how much if affects though. Well at least they used too.

Yeah you said it. Being illegal is going too far but there should be consequences and there is a history for it.. I'm not sure how much it factors in these days though. Very little I think. We have 12 no fault states but personally I think nobody really puts much weight cheating when the settlement comes into play. I could be wrong.

I think no fault was routed in rich men keeping their money when they divorced their wives but that's just me.

I dislike spreading negativity. But, I have to agree with you, papi...

Dude, if you put every philanderer in front of a judge, the courts will never accomplish anything else. Also, already socially awkward teenagers are going to be more afraid of engaging in any kind of relationship with the opposite sex, and it opens the door for people jealous of their partners' friendships getting attention from their own toxic b.s.

This...
