This was supposed to be in offtopic, but it exist in gen dis too now ig
This started as a way to find new stuff to watch with my fam but now I see it could also could help other people see which movies are underrated, which movies to stay away from, and recommendations.
MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
Basic Plot and Genre
Score of 1-5
1=Stay away from this movie at all cost
2= Bad movie in my opinion but could be enjoyed based on preferences
3= Its alright, wouldn't watch again though
4= Good movie would recommend (and who would you recommend it to)
5= One of the best movies I've seen, masterpiece
Which age might it be appropriate/inappropriate for
Ex: Too many gen z jokes/ Nude scenes/ Extreme gore
Puss in boots has to find the wishing star to solve a crisis he is having, though new and old faces are trying to do the same thing.
Animated, family, wholesome
Score: 4
All ages.
It was a good movie in my opinion, kinda overrated by the media. Wasn't as funny or deep as I thought it was, though I almost cried at some parts (none involving puss) the side characters were very good and almost better than puss himself. I feel like the life lessons were so good but they didn't dive into them deep enough. Animation style and the fights were amazing though, kind of like spider verse. Would watch again but not in theaters.
Mostly all ages but they do cuss a few as well as one f bomb if I'm not mistaken.
Pretty good movie, wasn't super funny but it was something new. Will ferrel and ryan together are also entertaining to watch. Would watch again but only in the holidays.
Lots of colorful characters find themselves on a train fighting for their lives under entertaining circumstances.
Comedy, Action, Mystery.
Rated R but just for language. Kinda bloody but not that much.
Score: 5. Literally mind blowing and so colorful.
You have to watch it in theaters as the edited netflix version does not do it justice. Was very colorful and how all the stories came together was very well done. Same vibes as glass onion/six underground/baby driver except better.
Thinking that it was going to be a new CW tv series, I ended up watching my first movie since Marry Me by Jennifer Lopez, but, in quite some time, perhaps since X-Men; First Class, about a bounty hunter going after someone in South Africa who knew too much about a secret government experiment that resurrects someone from the dead for 24 hours; the bounty hunter fails at his job, gets killed, is resurrected, and then gets saved in the end by scientist who he spared; so much violence and gore is usually a turn off for me and still was, but, I borderline enjoyed this movie; it was more like one of the sci-fi shorts that I posted, as it was based on just that one theme and hardly deviated from it. Hustlers by Jennifer Lopez is being saved as a special treat. Shotgun Wedding by Jennifer Lopez is coming up this January 23rd.
The Man from Toronto (Kevin Hart, Woody Harrelson)
A loser and a pro assassin get confused together and have to team up.
3/5
Was pg-13 but has 1 f bomb and plenty of violence.
Was actually very enjoyable and funny and had plenty of good action in the beginning and middle... BUT the ending was so rushed and lame and fell so short that it took a lot of the enjoyment away.
For me, Scary movies that are genuinely creepy are hard to find. Nothing really frightens me anymore. But this film did pretty well despite it having a slow start. 4/5 saw it at 2am.
Don't get me wrong it was a good film, and enjoyable film, but nothing special until the final scene. I don't compare it with Chucky or another killer doll movie, but when it follows the same path as all the others, its nothing special. But again, let me explain. It was an enjoyable movie from beginning to end, when you watch it for what it is, and the doll did look real and creepy. And I give it a high score based off that alone. Definitely a movie I would suggest to all horror fans.
A cop in a future where there are bionic slaves must uncover a plot that may tear up society.
5/5
Rated R, lots of nudes and some violence and a few minor disturbing scenes
Very deep and amazing movie. One of the best I've seen and will leave you with questions about life, reality, society, and the future of mankind. How much are you willing to lie to yourself? What will become of mankind? What is sentience? All of these are questions you will be thinking about long after the viewing.
Avengers Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne and their families are accidentally transported to the quantum realm where they find dangers that could threaten the multiverse.
3/5
pg-13, some blood and not-too-violent fight scenes.
Sounds good on paper and the trailer for it was amazing but the execution wasn't as good as the hype. It Felt rushed (not the pacing but the development of the movie itself) and was littered with plot holes, subpar CGI and inconsistent feats. What really gave it the "good" points was the main villain whos background was mysterious enough to create interest but badass enough to have us worry for the protagonist. Was an alright introduction to the future villains of the MCU.
I give it 10/10 stars for the acting, directing, storylines, and character development. All in all, this is probably my favorite live-action Batman movie! Pattinson nails Batman and Bruce Wayne in his first outing and will likely improve in the subsequent two sequels. Penguin and Riddler (in particular) were entertaining antagonists. I admire this Batman film for being the darkest, most realistic, and most grounded. I also like Catwoman (Selina Kyle) portrayed in this film. I could relate to her motives and found her likable as a reluctant sidekick(ish) to Batman. Looking forward to the next Matt Reeves' Batman movie!!
A murder takes place on a train filled with lots of colorful characters, but little does the murderer know the greatest detective in the world, Hercule Poirot, is also on the train.
4/5
Pg-13 Some blood and tobacco use, mostly for all ages.
Pretty deep movie. The scenery was beautiful and underrated even though it was a murder mystery. A pretty good plot twist in my opinion though I'm not too sure if it was cliche or not since I just got into the murder mystery genre. The acting was on fire and the cast was great. A deep and emotional movie as well.
Basically what would happen if chucky was mixed with ultron
4/5
Pg-13, some sorta-scary scenes and blood and cussing.
Pretty good movie showing the capabilities of ai. scary thing is M3gan could be a real thing in the near future (not a murderous ai but a replacement for parents). Good movie for people who are new to horror or get scared easily.
@rawsos: LOL more or less a pretty accurate description of Chucky and Ultron though I was thinking more along the lines of Chucky and Skynet but similar concept of A.I. I suppose. The irony is M3GAN pretty much took the Child's Play 2019 remake concept but utilized it with different characters essentially. There is a Rated R cut on peacock if you're curious but nothing too insane, some F bombs, the kills are a little more bloody, violent otherwise nothing new sadly. There's rumors that Universal who holds the IP to both Chucky and M3GAN may crossover in the future but nothing concrete yet.
Anywho, a movie called Sidekicks from the early 90's with Chucky Norris and Johnathan Brandis.
Sidekicks
Pretty good movie even if it is a Karate Kid knockoff in some ways from having the older asian guy train the kid, deal with his daydreams to the typical bad karate bully kid and his crazy sensai, the general plot is very unique with a kid daydreaming constantly about being Chuck Norris' sidekick in various rescuing scenarios being the main theme for the film. A fun flick that ultimately pays off, the main bully and bad guy his karate master are literally ripped right out of Karate Kid bad guy territory but even more dramatic and over the top in a goofier way for his other challenge and he has asthma so there's that, with the typical teenage challenge of getting the girl he likes who feels bad for him. Definitely a 90's cheesy yet fun flick.
Overall I'd give it a 7/10 if you're into Karate Kid like inspired movies mixed with the over the top goofyness of 3 Ninjas, and you like Chucky Norris films then I'd recommend this movie.
Fun flick, not as good as the first but still a good movie more goofier, sillier than the first and less weapon fights but still compared to recent movie coming out from the looks of it I bet this movie will still be better than Mutant Mayhem. 7/10 overall. The Turtles act like the turtles, great choreography and the Shredder along with Tatsu and Tokka and Razar. All done well.
A band of unlikely heroes band together for their own individual purposes but must face epic foes and valuable life lessons on their journey.
5/5 One of the best movies I've seen in a while though the beginning was slow. Pg-13 I would recommend to new and old DnD fans and people who love Hp or Lord of the rings.
Pretty awesome and heartfelt movie with plenty of laughs, action, and heart. I enjoy the way all the characters interacted. I think we have a new franchise on our hands with potential sequels.
Watched Hush last night on netflix. decent film. about a deaf mute woman who gets attacked in her home by a killer. one of mike flanagan's early films.
PIS, Plot Armor, Subpar acting (aside from Asher and Joseph GL), Lame action scenes and laughable CGI. Three times I thought to myself "this looks like a CW special." Villains were lame and and completely unknown. Considering I loved the first one and was waiting for this one was a big letdown. Basically a more souped up episode of power rangers.
Masterminds-Great movie, saw it as a kid back in 97 and still love it. If you guys are into movies like diehard, 3 ninjas or violent night with the maturity of say in between 3 Ninjas and Diehard and Violent Night, then you'll love this movie. It's PG but does have some violence in it and a good plot, the main protagonist is a rather conflicted, yet noble delinquent who has to take on a school being hijacked essentially taking kids for ransom. Patrick Stewart is the bad guy which is newer for him being an antagonist since most of the time he's a good guy, but he does a great job in this. Also has a few other bigger names like Vincent Kartheiser(who is the the main kid) and Matt Kraven. Highly recommend, a fun time and criminally underrated movie honestly a fun time. 5/5
Very good movie, the plot isn't too deep but solid none the less and one of the original revenge movies long before Robocop, The Crow and every other revenge inspired story to make things right with the supernatural come back from the dead trope. What's cool and unique about this movie especially is the fact that the guy comes back in the form of well a Wraith with supernatural powers, and a badass otherworldly car that's pretty much invincible. He uses his car ironically to take out the baddies causing havoc in this little town a gang of street pirates that take people's cars racing even by cheating if need be. This one guy who he sees a threat gets killed by them, only for him to come back some how. Good movie with great music, highly underrated too. I'd love to see a proper remake of this movie to be honest. 4/5 Also stars a young Charlie Sheen and Clint Howard.
All I can say is, this guy is like the Michael Myers of action protagonists. The amount of stab and bullet wounds he just walked off are insane. Other than that, it's a solid 7/10.
Would have given it a 3/5 because of the the plot armor and donny yen's uber unrealistic character but holy cow that ending, plust the end action sequences.
I couldn't help smiling. My mouth literally dropped several times
Recommend to all action fans.
Not too bloody either, just one sorta gross scene with a hand.
Alita Battle Angel. Watched this movie without knowing anything of the manga it was based off.Heard a lot of good things about it so decided to watch it. Glad i did. Very enjoyable film. Good story with amazing action. 8.5/10 .
@sabracadabra: Yeah, I watched some of it and I enjoyed it from the stuff I saw :-) I saw it on a Film 4 television programme, I never saw it in the cinemas.
Pretty dumb but when it had its moments, it hits, and it hits hard. The movie showed that after 20 years these movies are still fast and furios, just don't expect a cinematic masterpiece.
4/5
Would recommend to action and car fans who are fine without a good plot or story.
4.5/5 Most visually stunning/aesthetic/satisfying animated film of all time. Great action scenes but story is kind of slow and meh. Hope the next one will be better but this is def better than the first one.
Would recommend to any animation or Spiderman/action fans.
Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan) never knew his famous father, boxing champion Apollo Creed, who died before Adonis was born. However, boxing is in his blood, so he seeks out Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and asks the retired champ to be his trainer. Rocky sees much of Apollo in Adonis, and agrees to mentor him, even as he battles an opponent deadlier than any in the ring. With Rocky's help, Adonis soon gets a title shot, but whether he has the true heart of a fighter remains to be seen.
Rating: 9.5/10. Sequel to the Rocky series, Creed was masterfully directed and the fight scenes masterfully choreographed, an exhilarating experience throughout the whole movie. The characters were written to perfection, and Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan embodying those characters to a tee with brilliant performances.
In 1985, Russian boxer Ivan Drago killed former U.S. champion Apollo Creed in a tragic match that stunned the world. Against the wishes of trainer Rocky Balboa, Apollo's son Adonis Creed accepts a challenge from Drago's son -- another dangerous fighter. Under guidance from Rocky, Adonis trains for the showdown of his life -- a date with destiny that soon becomes his obsession. Now, Creed and Balboa must confront their shared legacy as the past comes back to haunt each man.
Rating: 9.8/10. Sequel to the Rocky series and Creed I, Creed II was surprisingly even better. The movie delves further into Apollo‘s character and history, as the film reveals his killer to be Ivan Drago, who’s son, Victor Drago, now challenges Apollo’s son, Adonis Creed, for heavyweight champion of the world.
Capturing the emotional significance of the two sons’ tragic history which ultimately brought them together in the ring to absolute perfection, while making the antagonists feel relatable and unlike the general feel of a “villain,” also capturing their emotions and history to a tee. The concept of Rocky and Creed fighting their battles together (no spoilers) was written perfectly, and the directing of the movie was as masterful, if not even moreso, as the first installment.
Still dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed is thriving in his career and family life. When Damian, a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy resurfaces after serving time in prison, he's eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring. The face-off between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Damian -- a fighter who has nothing to lose.
Rating: 9.6/10. Sequel to the Rocky series and Creed II, I’d have to put it below Creed II but at the least on par with Creed I. This installment delves further into Adonis‘ past, introducing a new character named “Diamond” Damian Anderson, who shared a tragic history with Adonis.
The film captures the emotional significance and unfortunate tragedy of the two in every single one of their interactions and especially in the final fight. Again directed to near perfection and written excellently, although a few nit picks I had were in the interview (no spoilers) and in how the match was set up, as well as other similarly minor things.
Jonathan Majors’ performance was unbelievable, perfectly acting out Damian, each expression and interaction on point nearly every single time. Michael B. Jordan was excellent as always, and the two near-brothers interacting throughout the film in conjunction with the directing, emotional significance and exhilarating atmosphere puts it up there as one of the best films I’ve watched to date.
Emotional and funny, The Flash questions what it really means to be a hero.
3.9/5
Pretty good, not anything crazy but one of the best dc movies ever made. Good plot, Very funny and the action scenes were alright but the ps2 CGI was pretty laughable, also kind of rushed in the very end but the cameos were TRI-PPY.
Would recommend to fans of the CW flash show or flash in general, as well as dc fans.
Decent movie nothing special, lack the "spark" the old transformers had.
Would be 3/5 but THAT END CREDIT SCENE. Made it all worth it. 5/5 for the end credit scene alone gave me hope again.
Pretty decent movie all around, but with all the action movies out it felt normal now. There was nothing that made it special aside from the end credit scene. It was a normal fish in a sea of normal fish along with some awesome fish here and there.
I would recommend it though, just for the end credit scene and it wasn't terrible, just nothing special.
Would recommend to any transformers or hasbro fans.
Pretty fun movie, action packed, fun story and just crazy from like 10 mins in to finish more or less. The only issue is at this point the series is falling into Fast & Furious territory with starting off grounded to just being over the top comic book stuff execution with some of the scenes and such. The ending is was interesting but also felt open. Curious to see what they do and where they go with it from here on out.
