10/10

Manga and anime are what they are today because of him.

Never read his works, but I read about his contributions to the medium and that alone gives him a 10. If he only he lived a little longer.

8 based on nostalgia.

Astroboy is my first shounen anime and that two part episodes The Greatest Robot in the World defines what is shounen anime for me:

violent epic battles that no western cartoon (during that time) would dare show on tv.

The only time I experience such shounen epicness again was during Goku and Piccolo's fight against Raditz.

Really, many modern works wouldn't even exist without him. He deserves a 10, of course.

I think a better poll would be what his is best of his best? Buddha? Asto Boy? Black Jack? Phoenix? Kimba? The list keeps going too.

Phoenix is usually considered his best, though I haven't gotten around to it yet.

@billy_batson: I haven't read that one yet, but I'm watching the anime on Amazon. So far, I like the anime, but have a feeling the manga is better. I like Astro Boy and Buddha the most, out of what I read. Hard to say which is his best. He as something for everyone young and old. Wish some of the stuff was publish in English or back in print again. After reading a biography on him I want to read it all.
