You can't really compare these two tragedies since they're very different, but if I had to choose, I'd probably say murder.

Both are despicable, but (and I know this sounds awful) at least you are still alive after a R word. I honestly don't like how that sentence sounds as it sounds like im saying its ok or not a devastating experience as well, but I think I would rather be r'd than murdered.

Why did I laugh?

Definitely. If you feel that once you're gone, that's it, I'd certainly see why you'd view murder as worse since your entire being is ended once it's committed. Once you believe in things like afterlife, reincarnation, etc. though, it gets murkier. Some would probably actually feel that raping someone and leaving them to suffer that mentally for the rest of their life is worse than killing them and having them go to Heaven or just be reborn again.

I have always wondered why rape is considered so much worse. People are fine with villains mudering and torturing but when it comes to rape its like a whole different level of evil.

If i'm murdered, that most likely means somebody saw me as a threat in some way which is basically a compliment lol.......if i'm raped, it just means somebody saw me as subhuman basically, an object to get f*cked.

According to The Thin Red Line, killing a man is worse than rape.

While always wrong, people can have good reason for murder.

Ex. I do not know what state it was in, but a man's son was kidnapped, held captive for days and molested/raped repeatedly by his captor, we are talking lifetime of mental trauma for the child. When his captor was brought back on the plane the man was waiting and snuck up by cops and shot him dead in the middle of the airport, on life TV.

Murder is the worst thing you can do to another human being. Rape is horrible, but your alive the down side your emotionally scared maybe for life. But yea murder is the WORST.

@misterwhisper: Agreed. I think murder can be justified in some instances, whereas rape can never be. For example with gang violence, I do feel if people didn't have broken families they wouldn't join gangs and therefore commit murders.

Rape scars the victim for life and murder tears the hearts out of the victim's family. Both are deadening. Both should be dealt with harshly.
